~THE NEXT DAY~
"So you guys had a good time last night?" Mom asked during breakfast.
"Well, you could say that we 'bonded' just like you two wanted us to." Malcolm eyed me as he took a sip from his coffee.
"That's great!" Ed grinned from ear to ear.
Now I find it really awkward to make eye contact with Malcolm.
He's unpredictable I tell you. You never know what's inside that brilliant mind of his. Such a queer guy.
Landon keeps looking at me then his brother then back at me again.
He keeps on asking about what happened last night and wouldn’t give it a rest until I tell him.
The three of us sat quietly inside the car all the way to school.
Malcolm got off first and I was about to follow suit when Landon stopped me.
"Hey, Erin. I have to tell you something." He says.
"Shoot."
"It's probably best if no one in school knows that the three of us are related." Landon began.
"Why not?"
"Well... you're enemies with Levi, right?"
"How'd you know that?" I arched a brow.
"The whole school's sort of talking about you."
"So everyone knows me, huh?" That explains why people are steering clear from me.
"As Roosevelt High's ex-gang leader, yeah." Landon nodded.
"I see. Okay, I'll just pretend not to know you and Malcolm on campus for all of our sake." I decided.
"I mean, it's not like we're embarrassed of you or something. It's just that---"
"No need to explain, little bro. I get it."
"Little bro? Really? I'm taller than you, sis." He grinned.
"Sure you are."
Whoa. Making female friends in this school is going to be harder than I thought when everyone knows who you were.
******
I noticed that Jace, the blonde jock, doesn't dare talk to me anymore.
I bet pretty boy is afraid of me. They all are.
It was way better back at Roosevelt High. I was friends with everyone, not shunned like I have a disease or something.
I listened to 'All By Myself' again all throughout homeroom period.
It's pathetic, I know but I've never felt SO alone like this before and it's all my mom's fault.
I'm trying to consider her happiness before mine but does she even give a s**t about me?
When I wasn't looking, someone placed a piece of paper on my desk.
'Want a pen pal?' It said.
I scoffed at the ridiculous idea of writing secret messages to some doofus in this room but replied to it anyway.
That's how lonely and miserable I am.
'We should have a code name or something.' I left the piece of note under my desk before hurrying out of the room when the bell rang.
******
I scanned the cafeteria with my eyes to find a possible group of girls that I could fit into.
"Let's see... cheerleaders? I don't think so. Gothic girls? Nope. Nerds? Uh, possibly. I have glasses on but I don't think I could understand them blab about the universe and all that crap. Band geeks? I once smashed a guitar on a guy's head once but I don't think that counts. Where the hell are the normal girls at?" I sighed in exasperation.
Suddenly, the cafeteria door busted open and in came Levi and his posse, making an entrance like they own the place. Well, actually, Levi does own the place so whatever.
They're the bad guys, I guess that's why all eyes are on them but they're quite good-looking too so I guess there's that.
I thought Mason said Levi didn't do 'lunch' so why the hell is he here?
"Alright, listen up people! I have an announcement to make. If anyone dares to approach or even talk to that girl over there, you've got yourself a death wish from yours truly! That's all." Levi flashed me an evil smirk before exiting the premises.
What a jerk. This is what social cancer looks like. Just like in 'Mean Girls' except they're guys. They should make a movie out of this called, 'Mean Guys'.
Now how am I supposed to live as a normal teenage girl?!
I've been officially shunned, thanks to that white-haired bastard!
******
I was just tuning my guitar in the game room when Landon came in.
"You play?" He asked.
"Sometimes."
"Saw what happened at the cafeteria. You've got it rough, sis." He patted my back.
"Hey, how come I never see you there or Malcolm?" I got curious.
"Trust me, I'm just around the corner. I’m pretty good at blending in." He smiled.
"I want one of those." I stared at his lip ring.
"I know how to do piercing. I could do your lips if you like."
"I'm sorry, am I interrupting you guys?" Malcolm stood by the door.
He must've misunderstood but I don't really give a damn about what he thinks.
"Not at all." Landon shrugs.
