After that, Kyer and I kept quiet as Sinda led the way. My stomach growled, but I ignored it. Beside us, the wall began to curve around to our left, and finally opened up onto another large platform, like the one we where we had jumped the turnstile. It felt good to spread out again. At this platform, there was no cage. Instead, the stairs led up at the far end of the platform, but they were covered with crumbled concrete and fallen debris, and harsh sunlight spilled onto them from a gaping hole in the ceiling. Though the pile of rubble rose high into the air, it fell short of the gap by a good twenty feet or so—the stairs literally led nowhere.
