Chapter 1
CHLOE’S POV   “I swear to God if today doesn’t turn out as perfect as I want it to be, I’ll have you arrested! Well what are you waiting for standing there looking like a bag of chips, get to work and bring me my green tea!” I yelled at the pathetic maids.    Low Lives, the bunch of them.    A low life should only get instructions. Because I am aware that they are intended to assist the upper class.    I just wish they were a little bit smarter so I wouldn’t have to constantly shout until my throat hurt.    Why do I need my green tea again? My voice remains melodious because of its healing characteristics.    I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my outfit. My face was covered in a broad smile.    It was finally happening.    I couldn’t help but pinch myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream. The excitement and nerves building up inside of me were indescribable. I felt like I had been waiting for this day my whole life, and now that it was finally here, I couldn’t believe it.   The day I would marry my best friend, George. I had been planning for this since George and I first realized we had feelings for each other.   George and I had been friends for as long as I could remember. We grew up together in the same pack. His parents had taken an instant liking to me which was a good thing.    I had always harboured a crush on George, but I never had the courage to tell him. So, when he finally confessed his feelings for me, it was like a dream come true. We started dating, and it felt like we had known each other our whole lives, who am I kidding, we did know each other our whole lives.    My face began to hurt from how wide my smile was, I had gone from just a blush to a full blown grin as I reminisce about the amazing night I had. It had been so risky, but I couldn’t resist the temptation to sneak out of the house and go see my fiancé one last time before our wedding the next day.   Call me rebellious, but it was worth it.   We had initially agreed that it was best for us to get a good night’s rest and avoid any unnecessary stress before the big day. But our desire for each other was too strong to resist. I had waited for the rest of the household to go to sleep, then slipped out of my room and made my way to his.   When I arrived at his place, he was waiting for me, a smile on his face as he pulled me into his arms. We kissed hungrily, our passion for each other reigniting with each touch. I had missed him so much, and it felt amazing to be in his arms again as he hugged me.    As I walked down the aisle towards George, all eyes on me, I knew that he was lucky to have me and I was luckiest girl in the world about marry the love of her life.    But, my heart leapt to my throat when I heard an ear piecing scream. The type that screamed bloody murder.    The ground trembled beneath my feet, a low rumble that seemed to start from deep within the earth itself. I looked up and saw a horde of wolves charging towards us. This was it – the end has come.   Fierce battle cries echoed through the air, and I clenched my jaw, bracing myself for what was to come, heart beat faster as the wolves closed in on our pack.   I could see the terror in the eyes of our wolves, their fur bristling as they prepared to defend our territory.    My senses were on high alert, every muscle in my body tensed as I dodged a strike and countered with a swift kick.   I couldn’t believe what was happening – it was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, and now everything was ruined.   “Enough!” a voice thundered, forcing every fight to a stand still. “You’re clearly outnumbered, surrender now or die, every last one of you.” A bulky, greased hairy looking man said stepping out from behind a tree.    “Please, we don’t want any trouble.” My father said making me look at him questioning why he was so afraid.    “Father, we can still fight! We can win!” I tried to tell him, to wake him up from his cowardice.   “Silence. You speak when spoken to.” The man said.    “You’re the one on my land, I don’t have to listen to you!” I spat, my voice dipped in venom.    The man laughed for a few minutes, clenching his waist as he did so. “Oh, it’s always the loud mouths that get in trouble. You just don’t know when to shut up do you? Especially when men are talking!“   I glared at him and spat in his face. He wiped his face and his face turned vicious.    For a second my life flashed before my eyes and I regretted my words.    He turned to my father with a sinister smile plastered across his face. “We’ll leave your pack unharmed, if you sell your daughter to me.” He gripped my chin forcefully making look at him.    I held my head high, knowing my father would never agree to such an offer. Or so I thought.    I waited for my father to tell him off but I was met with silence.    “Well? What is going to be? Death or her?” the man sneered, his nose a little too close to my nose.    From the corner of my eyes I could she his men holding onto George, pinning him to the floor.    I tried to wiggle out of his hold but he was too strong. His grip had me in place like a paralyzed person.    Again I tried to look at my father, unrelenting in my struggle. When my eyes caught his, he had a regretful look in his eyes that made my stomach churn in the worst way.    His silence said everything without his lips moving. Not only was he considering the offer, he looked like he had agreed to it.    My father has agreed to sell me as a slave.    I stumbled back from the man, shocked and devastated by my father’s decision. The reality of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks. My own flesh and blood had agreed to sell me as a slave. I felt like a piece of property rather than his daughter.   Tears streamed down my face as I realized that I had no say in this matter. My father’s betrayal was too much to bear, the man who was supposed to protect and love me above all else, was selling me off like a piece of property.   I scoffed at his cowardice. He was a king for crying out loud. One strong enough to have taken the invaders if he wanted to.    For a moment I realized the possibility that he wanted me gone. But I was his daughter. If that was the case why would he hurt me this way? Was I wrong to be born a girl instead of a boy?    Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked around the pack, taking in the faces of every member. They all wore blank expressions, as if this were a normal occurrence. How could they be so callous? How could they just stand there as if nothing were wrong?   My mother approached me tentatively, her eyes filled with sympathy. “Chloe, please understand. Your father has no other choice.”    I pushed her away, unable to comprehend her words. “No other choice? You can’t be serious! I’m your daughter! How could you let this happen?”   “It’s either your life or many others. Your duty as a princess isn’t just to command but to serve when the time comes, and Chloe this is the time” my father said, trying to make me accept that this was something normal.    Who sells off their daughter? A princess for that matter.    “Enough family talks princess,” the buff man sneered “time to go learn some manners.” He said pushing me away.    I didn’t even get the chance to pack up a few things I was going to need. Some things were really important to me.    I whipped my head to see George still on the floor but released. He too hadn’t fought for me.
