Prologue
Pastel pink hair was damp and shadowed under the gray looming skies. It was raining, as if the heavens were crying for the bearer's fate. The wind blew past the lady as she clasped the pendant of her necklace as if it meant everything to her. Sadness and longing were seen in her eyes but determination was with them, burning as fiercely as the sun which hid within the clouds. A dark and sinister laugh trembled the very earth she stood upon. Thunders roared, lightning striked, waves thrashed wildly, and the wind grew even stronger, uprooting bushes and trees from their land. A hurricane can be seen forming behind the unseemingly fazed lady. Countless bodies were scattered around the area, like a war had just taken place. Scarlet red liquid bathed the ground in its color and the air was filled with a metallic scent. The skies were dark and the clouds covered the moon shining so intensely from beyond as if symbolising a bad omen. The girl gritted her teeth and stood still, her hand slowly came upon the weapon she had on her. A quiver with one arrow was placed on her back. Her bow was a marble mixture of white, black and gold—the color of royalty. She stood straight, reached for the arrow, and slowly placed it in her bow with her hands down. Her hands were shaking and her heart pounded oh so loudly that you could hear it from a mile away if it weren't for the havoc that was happening around her. The pink-haired lady had yet to aim at her enemy. She narrowed her eyes and looked at the figure before her. A very familiar person stood there, one that she had spent most of her life with. It was ironic, she thought. That the day would come when the very person who swore to protect her and their people was the one who brought a terrible calamity upon them. The woman smiled bitterly while tears started to fall from her eyes. Her mind was filled with guilt-ridden thoughts. 'Why?' She asked herself. She didn't think it would end up like this. She wished everything would go back to normal. She had gone through several scenarios of 'What if?' in her mind, but she knew better than anyone that what has been done cannot be undone. She shook her head as if to throw away any negative thinking she had. She had to hold herself together or else everything that they worked hard for would be for naught. After all, she is the only one, the last remaining warrior left standing on this battlefield. She can't be emotional right now. She has to throw away any feelings lest she wants to doom every single one of them. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Her tears dropped on the arrow's head as she tried to control herself. As she lifted her head and opened her eyes, which held different kinds of emotions before, were now only filled with one. Her hands started to move as she aimed at her opponent. The shaking from earlier was not there anymore. Her heart now calm and steady. Determination rose from beyond her aura. An invisible force started pooling at the tip of her arrow's head and the thunders roared even more strongly. The mystery lady's pastel pink hair flew violently along with the wind. The person before her fell quiet and stared at her. Then the figure smiled a genuine smile as if that individual had been waiting for it the whole time. The woman who held her weapon still in her hands felt her heart ache to the point that she wanted to throw away her bow and arrow, and run towards the person before her. But she remained calm. She then returned the smile at her enemy. She mouthed inaudible words before releasing the tight grip she had on her bow string and the arrow shot fast and straight to the heart of her opponent. As if time slowed down, the girl could clearly see, hear and smell everything around her, it was as if she could view it from a 360-degree angle. She watched as the arrow pierced that person's chest and heard the words she'd been dreading to hear. "Thank you" As her beloved slowly fell to his knees, so did she. And when she saw his body land on the ground as blood pooled around him, she grasped at her chest where her heart resided. Rain started to fall again, but this time, it was much calmer, as if comforting her, trying to alleviate the overwhelming pain she felt at the moment. Then, as if a dam broke, a loud cry of anguish rang throughout the entire place.
