Chapter 3: Letter

Chapter 3:

“Can’t you stop with your jokes, it’s not funny anymore.” I said as I walk towards our room.

“Well, Jayce find it amusing as much as I do.” He said and block me to the door. “So, tell me the reason why you don’t want to be sworn brothers?”

“There’s no particular reason, I just don’t want to.” I said and pushes him inside the room.

“Well, if there’s no reason then your protest is not accepted.” He said even if I didn’t look at him, I know that he’s sitting at the couch right now. “As a Prince I declare, from this day forth you, Jayce and I are sworn brothers.” I look at him with my non-amusing look say.

“You’re not the Prince right now, am I right?” I said and look at Jayce who’s about to laugh but trying to suppress it.

“You…” Luke was about to say something, but he didn’t because I already lock the door and that’s when Jayce started to laugh.

Why can’t I have a peaceful sleep? Can they stop these tests for just a day? I close my eyes and I saw a figure of a beautiful girl. She’s smiling at me while calling my name.

Meanwhile, Andrew is sleeping at their bedroom Luke and Jayce are still awake and is sitting at the couch while watching television.

“Why the sigh Luke?” Jayce ask him while watching the movie.

“I’m actually happy to be here at the academy but now that I’m here it feels different. It feels like I want to go back to the castle with my mother and my sister.” I said to him, he then turned off the T.V. and looked at me.

“Your just homesick Luke, we all get that feeling after all were not used to be apart from our family.” Jayce said to me and patted my shoulders.

“I wonder what will happen tomorrow?” I said and fix myself as I walk to our bed. “I’m gonna sleep now Jayce.”

“Goodnight Luke.” Jayce said to me. I looked at Andrew whose sleeping at the right side of the bed near the window. This room have three bed, I guess I will have the middle bed.

“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that if I have you guys then I will surely graduate alive.” I said to myself and drifted to dreamland.

I heard the loud ringing noise of the alarm clock I tried to reach it and turned it off. I woke up and tidy up my bed but to my surprise I saw Andrew bed cleanly fixed and him doing push up.

“What are you doing?” I asked him while cleaning my bed. He stopped midway and look at me.

“Can’t you see I’m doing my morning exercise.” He said and continue, it’s not like I don’t see it. I just want to talk to him, sometimes this guy is so slow.

“I know that Andrew.” I said as I walk towards him. “Where is Jayce?”

“Jayce is cooking our breakfast.” He answered and stood up. I think he’s already finish.  “Let’s go together.”

I can’t believe my eyes when I opened the door. I looked at Andrew but he doesn’t look like shock at all.

“W-Why are you here?” I asked him.

“Is that how you talk to your elder Prince Lucas?” He said while sipping a cup of coffee.

“Sorry for offending you Sir.” I sincerely said and slightly bowed my head.

“I came here for one reason only.” He said and put the cup to the table. “That is to see you all in person and up close.”

I’m quite awe for what he said, he just wants to see us then why come here in our room so early in the morning. I didn’t bath and we hadn’t cleaned the room.

“Why do you need to see us Sir. Principal?” Andrew said while looking at him blankly.

“Good question, Young Andrew.” He said as he keeps on pointing at Andrew. “I came here to pass the letter which your parents gave just this morning.”  

After he said those words, a set of letters appeared at the top of the table. I pick it up and saw our Kingdom seal in the letter, which means Father wrote me a letter.

“Now that my business here is done. I must bid my goodbye; I hope all of you survive the training.  Especially you Andrew.” After he said those words, he vanishes leaving no trace of his self.

I give them their letters and head inside our bedroom. As I sat at the bed. My hands were sweaty, I don’t know if I want to read these letters but I got no choice. I opened my Father letters and his face suddenly pop up. It’s like a projector.

“Hello, my son. How are you now? I hope your still well, your mother worries about you so I hope you pass a message to stop her worries. My son, I know at first that you didn’t want to go there but eventually agreed, I want you to know that you don’t have to achieve what I did in the past at the academy. I just want you to finish and come back to our kingdom well and strong to protect our people also the ones who’s dear to you. Don’t worry about the affairs here outside, just focus on your train. Take care my son, and always know that I’m proud of you.”

After I read the letter. The tears I’ve been holding back since the begging started to flow, how I wish that I never read this letter. Never did Father wrote or said these sweet words to me but now that I’m here, he said those words to me. It feels like I’m gonna die inside the academy.

JAYCE POV:

The letter inside this envelope, I know who wrote this and I just hope I’m right. I carefully opened it and read the letter.

“Dear Brother, I know your quite busy inside the academy. I just to tell you that mother can’t sleep thinking about you. Lucky, I told her that you are face and you wrote a letter saying you are safe though I know your always safe. Be safe not for yourself or mine but instead be safe for our mother sake. You know I can’t take mothers cry, by the way father said that he will visit you there but he didn’t say when so just be careful of yourself. Before I forgot your ex-girlfriend got married yesterday to a very ugly guy. You’re so lucky both of you broke up because she looks the ugliest when she wears the white gown, if you could see her, I know you would puke at her sight. While you’re inside the academy I just hope you also heal your broken heart and move on, there will always be a girl who will hurt and leave you but remember that not all girls are like that, you just encounter the wrong person. So, don’t be so down and move forward, one day your gonna meet her and I know it will be soon. By the way I heard that the son of General James entered the academy hope you meet him and please get an autograph for me before you graduate. You know he’s been my Idol. P.S. forget anything just don’t forget the autograph.”

After I read the letter, I laugh at the thought that my little brother idolizes Andrew. Well should I get an autograph or not?

I look at the flower inside our room thinking It was her favorite flower.

“So, you indeed married him, I just hope I was there to sincerely congratulate the both of you.”

Looking back at our memories together, I’m the only one who is in-love. I know that she was forced to be in a relationship with me, all this time I was hoping that even just a tiny bit she loved me too but all of it was just my hopeful plead. When I said that the both of us should end our relationship, I saw happiness in her eyes and I don’t need a power like empathy to feel it. I can clearly see it, after that day I saw her with him both of them hug while she is crying happily. I concluded that all this time I’m keeping her shackled with me, I thought she’s happy being with me and loving me for real but all of it was just a lie. I wish that this time she is indeed happy and that she would always smile genuinely.

I felt a pat at my shoulder and when I looked up, I saw Andrew.

“Want to go out and congratulate her in person?” He asked me though it sounded like a command rather than a question.

“You know we can’t do that.” I said to him and shook his hands, which question me who the hell did he know about her?

“How did you know?”

“I got my ways. You don’t have to worry about getting out today, so are you in or out?” He said while fixing his gloves. Whenever I see him wear that gloves it always reminds me that wear at war.

“I’m in.” I said to him then Luke came out beside him.

“I’m coming too. I want to see my cute little sister.” He said while smiling.

“We only got 3 hours to do what we want outside the academy so you better hurry and be back before the portal closes.” Andrew as a portal open right in front of us.

I don’t know who or where did this portal come from but I must thank whoever did this. After we entered the portal it led us out to the main capital of the kingdom but where at the dark alley.

“Now the countdown starts. At exactly 6 am where gonna meet here if I don’t see you here at that time don’t blame me for leaving you.” He said as he starts his timer.

“Don’t worry we will be here.” After Luke said that he run towards the castle.

Meanwhile I’m walking towards her house and luckily, I saw her walking towards it too. I walk towards her and called her name.

“Tessa!” She stops and look at me.

“Jayce what are you doing here?” I can feel that she’s shock base in her reaction and voice. I took the flower in front of her.

“For you.” She took the flower and look at me with a teary eye.

“I only came here to congratulate you on your wedding, I wish you everlasting happiness and love.” I came closer to her and wipe her tears then hug her tightly while whispering.

“I hope he will treasure and love more than I do.” I said to her and kiss her forehead.

When she opens her eyes, I was no longer in front of her. I can see her circling around trying to find me but I’m her hiding behind the fruit stand. I’m slowly watching her back walking to her new home and new love. Slowly watching her hug and kiss someone happily. I smiled bitterly and turned my back at her.

“Goodbye my youth full love and joy, Tessa.”  As I walk towards our meet up place, I saw Andrew standing while eating an ice cream.

“Your fast.” I said in amusement. As I grab the ice cream, he gives at me.

“Well, it finished earlier than expected.” He said and look at his watch. “So, how was your date?”

I choked at what he uttered and look at him.

“It’s not a date. It’s more like a farewell.” I said to him and look at the people walking pass by us.

“It’s gonna be okay, you’ll find someone better than her. Beside it’s good that you let go of someone who doesn’t love you rather than binding her in your love which will lead both of you to suffer.” He said and pat my shoulder.

I’m shocked to hear it from him, knowing that he never had any relationship before. Well, that’s what the gossip say that the son of the Great General James is a bachelor.

“Big word for someone who doesn’t been in a relationship.” I said to him and he just smiled.

“My friend.” He said as he held my shoulders with his two hands. “I may not be in any relationship but trust me when I say this that, in my entire life my mother taught me all about love while my father taught me how to protect that love.” He said and let go of me. He really looks serious as he said those words to me.

“That is why I may not know your pain but I do hope you find your fated one.” He said as he looked at the sky which filled with many stars.

“Yeah. I do hope for it to happen.” That’s all I can say to him.

“Well, what did I miss?” A voice talks to us at our back. I look back and saw Luke holding a basket of fruits.

“Your late.” That’s the only thing Andrew said as he opens the portal.

“You didn’t leave me so can I conclude that you’ve open up to me now Andrew?” Luke teasingly said to him as he gives me the basket.

“Here we go again.” I said in my thoughts while smiling.

Andrew POV:

I hurriedly go to our house. I clearly didn’t want to go here because it might stop me from going back to the academy but I really want to see how they are doing. As I walk to our house, I heard my mother laugh while my father is singing his best. I sneak a peek at the window and saw my family is laughing and not crying at all which is good because one of the things I’m worrying is my mother crying, but seeing her laughing with them makes me feel at ease. Knowing that they are okay I don’t have to worry and slowly walk away from our house.

As Andrew walk slowly at their house, he didn’t know that his family knows that his going to check on them because Principal Kean called his father and say that Andrew might temp to go back home after receiving the letter which is true. So, his mother faking her laugh even though she wanted to hug him. They watched him walk away both her and his second son Jason cried as they look at his back.

“This is for the best sweety.” Andrew father said to his wife and hug her and his son.

Meanwhile at the castle; the queen and his husband the king is ready to sleep when a man suddenly showed up at their bed and it’s none other than their son, Lucas. The queen hurriedly hugs her son.

“My Queen you’re not properly dress.” The King said to his wife.

“I’m wearing my nightgown Jake beside this is our son it’s not like an outsider.” And shrugged him the King put a blanket at his Queen and pat his son shoulder.

“Father, sorry if I sneak at your sweet moments with mother but I just want to see the both of you and say that the academy is hell.” Lucas said to his parents and the King laugh so hard.

“You’ve only seen the tip of the ice berg my son, the upcoming days will be harder than you think.” The King said to him and the three of them sat at the bed.

“It’s already hard, father.” I commented to him, he only patted my back and stood up.

“You need to go son; a prince must not sneak out or leave his duty behind to seek his parents embrace. Soon you’re going to be the King of this kingdom you need to learn not to depend on us. Do you understand, Lukas?” His father said to him while looking seriously he just gulp, he’s about to say something when his mother cut him off.

“Jake, our son is not a king yet so don’t pressure him too much.” She said and look at her son face, she touches his cheeks carefully.

“Son, I’m glad you’ve come to our chamber but I won’t tolerate you sneaking out but for now I can let it slide for once. Okay.” She said with a smile on her face.

“Understood mother.” He replied and smiled back at her.

“Now, you must leave it getting late.” His mother said while pushing him towards the balcony.

“Good luck son and take good care of yourself.” His father said to him while waving. He then jumps out of the balcony; he was about to run when his mother called him and throw a bunch of fruits. He carefully catches each one of them.

“Thank you, mother.” He said while waving at her.

“Share it with your friends and I love you my son!” She shouted at his son running back. She didn’t know if his son heard her. She just hopes that her son will be alright after all no mother want their children to go in war.

While running Lukas drop a few fruits, he then stumbles an abandoned stall which has a basket. He took it without hesitation and put all the fruits that his mother gave and run again because his getting late.

As he’s getting near the meeting place, he saw Andrew and Jayce talking, he knew that his late and his relief that Andrew didn’t leave him behind.

“Your late.” Andrew said to him.

“Look at this guy, so poker face but deep inside is so kind.” He silently said to himself.

“You didn’t leave me so can I conclude that you’ve open up to me now Andrew?” I teasingly said to him as I gives him the basket full of fruits.

He didn’t say anything and walk inside the portal, he didn’t even take the basket luckily Jayce take it from my hands.

“Thank you, Jayce.” I said and walk alongside him while entering the portal.

“What’s wrong with him?” I ask Jayce as we got out of the portal and got back to our room.

“Nothing. Maybe he’s just tired.” Jayce answered and put the basket at the table.

“Jayce and Luke, freshen up yourself cause we’re going to scout the academy.” Andrew said to us as he entered the bathroom.

“Seriously this guy! How can he move so quickly? One thing his in front of us and the next his already half n***d and ready to enter the bath.” I said to myself but I think Jayce heard it because he laughs.

“You can’t blame the guy. He got super speed.” Jayce said while washing the fruits. While I’m finding what to wear at my wardrobe.

“A prince must always be look elegant and fresh.” I said to myself while copying the way how my mother talk to me always. I pick a light blue long sleeve shirt and black pants.

“This will make me look handsome.” I said while looking at the shirt.

“Who do you think will say your handsome, if were all guys here.” Andrew said while mocking me. I was shock when he suddenly talks behind my back which made my skin crawled.

“There’s one, and that’s YOU.” I said while emphasizing the you word. He didn’t answer back and focused on finding what to wear.

“Your well-toned for a guy who’s not yet 20.” I said while biting my lip. I saw his eyes grew big; I was about to laugh but I stop it. cause I really need to tease him again.

“Look dude your creeping me out.” He said while hugging his shirt.

I walk slowly towards him while his stepping back at me.

“What’s there to be creep about when were both guys. Besides, I like your toned body.” I said while teasing him and girlishly touch his hand.  He pushes me and hold both of my shoulder.

“Look, you’re a goddamn PRINCE. Don’t be like this your creeping me out. We can’t be together, were both guys and I’m not into men.” He said while looking at me and that’s the time when I laugh so hard. He really did emphasize the word PRINCE.

“Your so ease to tease Andrew.” I said while holding my stomach as I laugh. “Don’t worry cause I’m not into you too.” I said to reassure him cause he’s really still holding his shirt tightly away from me.

“You can joke anything just not this.”  He seriously said to me. I stop laughing and look at him with a serious face too.

“I can’t promise but I’ll try not to do this again.” I said to him and hurriedly walk out the bedroom.

“You’re tease him again.” Jayce said to me as he drying his hair.

“I can’t help it. His so easy to tease.” I said and entered the bathroom.
