CHAPTER 3 Liam Chris The days were warm. This he knew. He had a heart and a brain. This he knew. He knew how to eat and how to wash. He knew how to walk and how to take care of his waste. He knew that he’d come a long way because, well, because he was no longer lost in the fog, standing outside himself, watching others do those things for him. He also knew the anger, the rage, the bloodlust that bubbled up inside, bloodlust that, were he not so blank and numb, he would have a difficult time suppressing. They traveled endlessly. He watched the trees as he rode along, first west, then south, then east. He liked to listen to the sounds of the horses, the clop of their hooves on the asphalt, their snorts and whinnies.
