CHAPTER 10
“Mia, you’re back!” Tatiana greeted when she saw Mia walked in the door.
“Yes, my lady. I am back, and I have finished the mission you gave me.” Mia walked closer to her and gave Tatiana an envelope.
Tatiana opened it and pulled a paper from it. The paper contains the list of names that participated in the knight’s exam in the South.
Tatiana went through the list and looked for Kai’s name. She doubled and triple check the list, but she couldn’t find his name.
That means Kai didn’t join the knight’s exam, but why?
“Are you okay, my lady?” Mia asked while looking at her with worried eyes.
Tatiana smiled at her and nodded.
“Yes, I’m okay. Thank you for this, Mia. You did well.” Tatiana said.
Mia bowed down and excused herself, leaving Tatiana alone in her room.
SIlence surround Tatiana and her mind was only filled with one thing. She has to meet Kai.
Kai is an important character in the novel. He is destined to become one of the talented knights who will fight with the Crown Prince in the end. He was also the one who killed Tatiana.
That’s why when they met a year ago, Tatiana was hesitant getting close to him. But Kai begged her to train him, so they became close friends.
Tatiana thought positively on this and thought that maybe because they’re now friends, Kai won't kill her if ever she fail to change her destiny.
Anyways, now that Kai didn’t join the knight’s exam, that means he won’t be Noah’s knight, and that means the novel has changed.
Is that a good thing?
Tatiana’s goal is to change the novel’s course, but now that something did change, she suddenly felt scared of it.
Tatiana stood and looked outside her window. She sighed as she watched the night sky where the moon is shining bright.

The next day, Aaron planned to find out what happened to Tatiana for the two years he was gone. But first, he has to meet His Highness first.
Aaron arrived at the Imperial Palace.
“Lord Aaron, are you looking for His Highness?” George asked when they met in the corridor.
“Yes, he’s in his office?” Aaron responded.
“Yes, my Lord. I’ll bring you to him.” George offered and they walked their way towards the Crown Prince’s office.
When they arrived, George knocked on the door first and announced their presence before entering.
“Greetings, Your Highness.” Aaron greeted respectfully. Noah just took a glance at him and went back to his work again, making Aaron roll his eyes.
They are good friends so even if Noah can see him roll his eyes, he wouldn't mind.
“What are you doing here?” Noah asked without even looking at Aaron.
Before Aaron answered, he first went to the sofa and sat comfortably.
“I have to talk to you about my sister.”
Noah stopped writing midway. The mention of his fiancé has brought back the memories from yesterday morning.
He still hasn’t moved on from Tatiana’s unusual behavior, but because of his work, he has to set it aside for a little while.
“About what?” Noah asked nonchalantly.
He tried to make it seem he’s not interested, but truth is, he is curious as hell.
“Your Highness, excuse me for my question, but did you do something to my sister?” Aaron asked back. He is now seating while leaning forward with his arms on his lap and his eyes in Noah’s direction.
Noah looked at him and raised a brow, implying that he couldn’t understand his question.
“Last night, Tatiana said she broke off her engagement with you. I know it is something you wanted, and it’s actually a good thing, but it isn’t just like Tatiana to act like that. So, I was wondering if you have something to do with it.” Aaron explained.
“Are you really asking me that? Might I remind you, that I was also at the war for two years, so how could I possibly know something that even her own brother didn’t know?” Noah answered sarcastically.
He was curious as well about what happened to Tatiana.
“Well, I know that. But how about your conversation yesterday? Did something happen?”
Noah stood up after this question. He walked closer to Aaron and sat on a sofa in front of him.
“Nothing happened. Aside from the fact that your sister visited me so early in the morning just to tell me she wanted to break off our engagement.”
Aaron’s forehead crumpled.
If it isn’t with the Crown Prince, then what? Aaron thought.
He figured that the Crown Prince might have an idea as to why Tatiana is suddenly acting like how she’s acting, but it seemed he doesn’t know as well.
“I also wanted to ask you, Aaron. What happened to your sister?” Noah asked back.
Aaron sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“I also do not know, your highness. She’s suddenly acting very weird. She even said sorry to us last night, and the maids said she didn’t throw a tantrum when they walked into her room without her permission. Can you believe it?!” Aaron exclaimed
Now, it’s Noah’s turn to be confused at the revelation.
Noah couldn’t imagine Tatiana saying sorry and not throwing tantrums, but if that is true, then Tatiana really had changed.
Noah then remembered Tatiana’s face from yesterday. She may look the same, but she feels different. It’s like she was possessed or became a totally different person.
“Interesting...” Noah mumbled.
Is it really possible that Tatiana is no longer the Tatiana we used to know? But what if it's just her facade to gain attention?
“Anyways, so what will happen to your engagement now? What did His Majesty say?”
Noah stared at Aaron for several seconds before answering.
“Nothing. His Majesty doesn’t know anything because the engagement is still on.”
Aaron looked at him confusedly.
“What? I thought—”
“Yes, Tatiana suggested it, but I didn’t agree.” Noah cut offed Aaron.
Aaron is more confused now.
“Aren’t you supposed to be happy that you’re finally free from the unwanted betrothal?”
Noah thought for a moment before answering.
“Yes, but I also think as the Crown Prince of this empire, I cannot go back against my word,” Noah answered, giving the same reason he gave Tatiana.
Aaron’s forehead crumpled once again. He couldn’t believe what he just heard.
He knows that Noah could cancel this engagement easily and it won’t affect his reputation or his credibility, especially now that he could just simply say it was Tatiana who wanted to break off the engagement. However, Noah didn’t agree to it because he’s afraid to go back against his word?
This is suspicious in Aaron’s ears, but he didn’t dare to ask more.
The Crown Prince might just have a personal reason he does not want to share.
“Right, but my sister seems to be very diligent in canceling your engagement. She’s doing some important things this morning.” Aaron reported that made Noah frown.
Just what is she doing so busily and why is she trying her best to cancel off our engagement?
“Whatever she is doing, that is already out of my grasp. But she won’t easily cut off our engagement, not on my watch.” Noah said and smirked to himself. The last sentence he whispered so Aaron didn’t hear it.
“Ah, by the way, since you’re here. Send this to your sister when you go back.” Noah remembered and gave Aaron a small envelope that has a beautiful royal seal and elegant golden writing of Tatiana’s name.
“What is this?” Aaron asked as he examines the envelope.
“It’s a letter. Just send it to her and you’re done.” Noah answered simply and went back to her desk to continue his work.
Aaron shrugged and reported a few important matters before he left and went back to the Cromello’s Residence.
