CHAPTER 11  “What is this, brother?” Tatiana asked Aaron when he gave her the letter that the Crown Prince gave.  “It’s a letter from His Highness,” Aaron answered.  Tatiana furrowed her brows.  “A letter? From His Highness?”  Tatiana opened the letter and read its contents.   “What is it about?” Aaron asked curiously and leaned forward to Tatiana. They are both sitting on the sofa area in Tatiana’s room.  “It’s an invitation...” Tatiana answered softly, still confused with why the Crown Prince just sent her an invitation.  “Invitation to what?”   Tatiana finished her reading before answering Aaron. She placed the letter down and leaned back on the sofa.   “It’s an invitation to the victory banquet this weekend. His Highness wants me to be his date.” Tatiana sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.  She couldn’t believe Noah would ask her to be his partner for the banquet even after she just said she will break off their engagement.  “What? Why would he do that?” Aaron asked.  He is as confused as Tatiana. It doesn't make sense that the Crown Prince would invite her to a royal ball when everyone knows for a fact that he doesn't like her. Plus, Tatiana just said she will break off their engagement. Just what is the Crown Prince planning to do? They really can’t understand just what is going on in his mind.  “I don’t know. He is being stubborn, and I don’t understand why. He’s supposed to be happy I suggested nullifying our engagement!” Tatiana answered.  Aaron started getting headaches. He thought it is just Tatiana who became weird, but now his best friend, the Crown Prince, is starting to act unusual as well.  Just what is happening?  They both became silent for a few moments thinking of why His Highness was acting the way he’s acting now.  “So, what are you planning to do?” Aaron asked, breaking the silence.  Tatiana sighed and looked at the invitation again.  She doesn’t really want to get involved with the Crown Prince again, that’s why she’s been busy the whole day trying to rush her plan. However, she can’t possibly reject a royal invitation, right?  “I don’t know. I don’t really want to go.” Tatiana responded honestly. Her mind was totally blacked out, and she can't think properly at the moment. She's confused and disorganized with everything.   “Well, no matter what your choice will be, I just hope you do what is best for you,” Aaron said sweetly.   He never thought he would be giving advice like this to his only little sister. He had always wanted to be a real brother to Tatiana, but he never got the chance to do so because Tatiana would push him away.  Thinking of this, Aaron felt his heart skipped a beat. He wished his relationship with Tatiana will continue to grow stronger and deeper.  Tatiana smiled at him and nodded.  “Thank you, brother.”  They both talk for a while, setting aside the topic of the banquet royal invitation. They talked about some trivial things in their life and Aaron had never felt so happy having this conversation with his little sister.  --  On the other side, Noah was staring outside the window.  Aaron just left the palace and Noah was left completely distracted from his work. He can’t focus on his work again as his mind was filled with only one name: Tatiana.  Just what is with Tatiana that she has infiltrated my mind like this?  Noah’s brows furrowed at this thought.   Since yesterday, he has only been thinking of Tatiana and only Tatiana. She has captured his attention with her strange behavior.  If it was Tatiana’s plan from the start, then it sure is working.    Noah’s deep thoughts were cut off when a knock came on the door.   “Your Highness, it is me, George.” He heard a voice behind the door said.  Noah sighed and sat back down on his chair before he answered.  “Come in.”   The door opened and revealed George, behind him is a man with ginger hair who looked...lost.  Noah’s brows raised curiously at them.  “Greetings, Your Highness.” George greeted. He even has to nudge the other man before he greeted him as well.  “G-greetings, Your Highness.” The man greeted with a bit of hesitation.  “What is it?”   “Your Highness, it is about the silver-haired and purple-eyed man you have asked me to look for.” George started.  Noah’s brows raised again and turned to the other man who is looking very out of place. He then returned his gaze at George before asking.  “Did you find him?”   George bowed down his head before answering.  “Unfortunately, I have not yet found him, Your Highness. I have looked in the South and asked several people, but they don’t know such a person. But then, I found this man right here. His name is Kael Arder, and he had information about the silver-haired man.” George explained.  Noah looked at the man named Kael once again. He stood up and walked closer to them.  “Do you know that man with silver hair and purple eyes?” Noah asked.  “Uh... Before I answer, Your Highness, are you looking for the man who saved a poor little boy from three bulky thieves during the festival in the South?”    Noah got more intrigued after hearing that.   “Yes, I certainly do. Do you know him?” Noah asked more confused now. His cold red eyes were intently staring at Kael’s green eyes.  Kael showed a smile that made Noah’s forehead wrinkled even deeper.  “I’m sorry your highness, but the man you are looking for is not a man,” Kael replied with a smirk still pasted on his face.  “What do you mean?”  “I mean, that man with silver hair and purple eyes is a woman, your highness.”   Noah was stunned at what he just heard. Then, just like a bomb, realizations started hitting him.  --  Later that day, Tatiana pondered again about how will she respond to Noah.   She stared at the letter on her desk and paced back and forth as she tries to organize her thoughts.  If she thinks about it, the upcoming banquet is a very important event. The novel started with a banquet.   Tatiana froze with that realization. She had forgotten for a minute, but the banquet is indeed the beginning of the novel. That means, her life will start unfolding like in the novel.  Wait, no. Whatever happens at that banquet may change everything.   Tatiana sat back down as she stared at the letter with determined eyes.   She can’t believe she even thought of not going. It is the perfect chance!  The banquet is the setting where everything will start. It will also be the time where the Crown Prince will first meet his heroine. That means the heroine and some other important characters will be attending.  This just means more reason she has to go. If she wants to change her destiny, then there is no more time to be afraid of uncertainties. Right. The beginning will soon start, I should prepare well. Whether I change our family’s destiny or not, the only deciding factor will be what will happen at the banquet.   --  reyankleyr   .
