CHAPTER 65
“Can you do me a favor?” Tatiana asked Kai.
Kai walked back towards her, looking confused.
“Favor?” he uttered.
“Of course, if I can do it I’ll do anything for you.”
Tatiana smiled at his answer.
Kai has always been so kind towards her. Even though sometimes he’s goofy and mischievous, he actually cares about her and protects her secretly by her side.
“Thanks, Kai.” She said. “I need your help with regards to Investor J.”
Kai frowned.
“Investor J? What about it?” he asked.
Kai found out about the prominent Investor J who took the business world by storm while he was in the South. When he heard about it, he immediately knew it was Tatiana. He was surprised that Tatiana has a talent in business, and it made him curious why she suddenly started this thing with Investor J. But, in the end, he didn’t probe on it further.
Besides, Tatiana told him it was so she could earn her own money and power.
It still didn’t make sense to Kai since Tatiana was already the most influential and wealthy young lady in the empire as the only daughter of Duke Cromello. But he set it aside and decided to just support her.
“This is just something I’m worried about. There’s no way of telling if you have to really do it. But, just in case, will you pretend as Investor J?”
Kai was at loss for words after that. He was confused at Tatiana’s request.
“What do you mean? Pretend?” He uttered, his face looking very puzzled.
Tatiana let out a sigh before explaining,
“I’ve met His Highness before as Investor J. It was just one time, but considering how things were going right now, I’m guessing His Highness would want to meet Investor J again.”
Kai bobbed his head.
“Then, why do I have to pretend in your stead?”
“His Highness doesn’t know I’m Investor J. If I meet him again, even with the disguise, I’m afraid he’ll find out.” She sighed. “Also, I have this feeling that His Highness has suspicions about me already. He might do some kind of trick to corner me or something, so I figured it’s better to be prepared than be sorry later on.”
Kai processed her words carefully.
Even though he was still confused about everything, he did understand what Tatiana wanted him to do.
“I…I understand.” He uttered. “What should I tell His Highness when I meet him?”
Tatiana smiled at his response.
It was a good thing she decided to ask Kai for help.
“I don’t have enough time to explain everything right now since His Highness is already downstairs, but I will let Mia tell you everything you need to know.” Tatiana walked closer to him and gave him a hug, “Thank you, Kai.” She said.
Kai smiled and hug her back.
“No problem. You’re my best friend, and I can do this much for you.”

Tatiana smiled again when she remembered her conversation with Kai this morning.
She secretly eyed Mia and Kai under her hood. And even though it was very subtle, she saw them nod back at her.
Everything has to be rushed, so Tatiana was worried if they can survive through this meeting. However, she has faith in both of them and believes that they have given it their all, regardless of the outcome.
“Greetings, your highness.” It was Kai who spoke first.
Noah escorted Tatiana to the seats reserved for them. He drew one of the chairs across from Mia for her. Tatiana then took a seat, a little taken aback by Noah's unexpected gentleness. Once she was settled, Noah sat on his own chair, in front of Kai.
He looked at the man in front of him.
“Good seeing you again.” He said, coldly.
Noah then glanced at Tatiana.
“This is Ana, a friend of mine.” He introduced.
Noah was aware that Investor J already knows her as Tatiana.
However, since Tatiana herself said to call her Ana, he complied without asking any more questions.
He figured Tatiana must have a reason why she needs to use a different name.
“Nice to meet you,” Kai said to Tatiana. The latter only gave a small nod.
While Kai was greeting Tatiana, Noah took that chance to observe him. For some reason, Noah felt strange looking at him.
Is it just me or there’s something different from him? He thought to himself.
The Investor J in front of Noah was wearing the same black cloak and black mask from before. He even has the same stature. However, Noah feels like there is something different. It was as if he’s not the same person he met before.
“You…” Noah uttered suddenly, making Kai turn to him in confusion. “You’re not Investor J.”
Kai, Mia, and even Tatiana were stunned at his sudden statement.
The three of them started feeling anxious, scared of being found out.
How did he find out? That’s impossible! Tatiana thought to herself as she tried to think of a way out.
Kai also thought the same. He acted like how Mia told him to do, and he was confident that he was doing a great job. But, he didn’t expect he’ll be discovered this quick.
What should I do?
He thought and secretly glanced at Mia and Tatiana for help. But the two ladies can’t help him at that moment.
Ah… I’m on my own. He complained in his mind.
“What do you mean by that, your highness?” Kai said, trying to sound as though he wasn’t affected.
Noah narrowed his eyes at him. Even though he was wearing a hood, Kai could feel his intense glare.
“Who are you?” Noah asked. His voice was so cold that it sent chills up Kai and Mia’s spine. Even Tatiana started fidgeting under her cloak.
“I am Investor J, your highness,” Kai answered despite his nervousness.
Noah scoffed.
“Don’t kid me. I’ve met him before. You’re not him.” He said again. This time, he sounded a bit agitated.
Kai gulped and tried to think of something. Then, he thought of an idea.
He raised his head a bit so Noah could clearly see his mask. The mask was specially designed by Tatiana. It has a voice changer feature and an easy breathing system that allows the user to feel more comfortable. This is also the same as the masks that Alfred and Mia were wearing.
However, what’s different about the one Tatiana uses was the symbol on the right corner of the mask. The symbol was a sophisticated cursive of the letter J that was drawn using gold ink.
“I hope this is enough proof to convince you, your highness,” Kai said, pertaining to the symbol.
Noah noticed what Kai was trying to point. He also knew of this symbol. Noah saw it when he first met Investor J, and during his and Aaron’s investigation about him, they found that this symbol was unique only to Investor J.
He knows it cannot be easily copied by anyone. The symbol uses a special type of ink that looked like it has glitters when directed by light.
Anyways, the point was, the man in front of him was wearing a legit mask that only Investor J wears. That just shows he is Investor J.
However, even after seeing that, Noah was still not convinced. There’s only one explanation that Noah could think of at that moment, and that is: Investor J is not one person only.
Is that possible?
Noah’s idea doesn’t make sense, but he hold onto that instinct and believed that this man in front of him was not the same man he met before.
He decided to drop it and didn’t say anything more about it. Even if he’ll continue to ask, the man in front of him will certainly continue to deny. Hence, it would just be a waste of time and energy to inquire further.
Besides, he went here for a more important matter.
“Alright,” Noah said.
Kai secretly sighed in relief, and so did Mia and Tatiana.
He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he hadn't expected to be put on the hot seat so soon after His Highness had sat in that chair.
I just hope this will end quickly! Kai grumbled in his mind.
“Then, shall we start?” He said.
Noah gave a small nod.
