CHAPTER 71 “My lady, where should we go first?” Sir Charles asked when they passed through the Main Street. The Main Street of the capital is considered the largest and busiest street in the empire. This was because most of the biggest stores are located on the Main Street. The Central Plaza is also nearby as well as the biggest theatre center of the empire.  Tatiana looked outside the window. “Hmm… let’s go there,” She said and pointed to the biggest clothing store she saw.  Sir Charles nodded and informed the coachman.  “My lady, it’s hot outside. Please wear this.” Mia said and gave the sky blue brim hat that she brought for her. Tatiana smiled and accepted the hat. “Thank you, Mia,” She said. Mia helped her wear the hat. After that, the carriage stopped in front of the clothing store. “Let’s go.”  Sir Charles was the first to exit the carriage, followed by Mia and then Tatiana. When Tatiana stepped out of the carriage, however, everyone in the vicinity stopped to stare at her. It was very rare to see such a high noble like Tatiana in the streets of the capital. It was even rarer to be able to be this close to her. As such, they didn’t waste the opportunity and looked at her as much as they could. Tatiana, on the other hand, found their stares unsettling. She wasn't used to being the center of attention. However, she didn’t do anything and simply ignored them. “This way, my lady.” Sir Charles said and led her inside the building. He was walking in front of Tatiana, his arms acting as a barrier between her and those who wanted to have a close look at her. Mia, on the other hand, was trailing behind her. At that moment, Tatiana felt like a celebrity.  Is this how those idols felt? It’s uncomfortable but pleasing at the same time. She thought and chuckled in her mind. If she was still in her previous world, living as Jane, she would have never experienced this kind of treatment. “M-my—Welcome!” a middle-aged man, wearing a neat suit, frantically ran towards the entrance as he welcomed them inside. Tatiana glanced at him and figured he was the store’s owner.  “I never thought the lady of the prestigious House Cromello would personally visit my humble store. How may I help you, my lady?” The owner asked and grinned widely. Tatiana forced a smile, clearly uncomfortable. “We’ll look around by ourselves first.” She said and walked away.  However, even after she stated that the owner trailed closely behind them. He kept on suggesting things to Tatiana, and whenever she stared at an object, he would make a fuss by saying it was a good choice and whatnot. Other shoppers were staring at her as well, and some even pretended to browse for items around her to simply get closer to her. Tatiana was starting to get annoyed. She only wanted to shop in peace, but it was clear that the people here won't even let her do that. It was logical, given Tatiana's status as a noblewoman. She is the daughter of the empire's finest Duke. Apart from that, everyone knows she is the Crown Prince's fiancée, making her the empire's soon-to-be Crown Princess.  Tatiana understood that her name alone carries a lot of weight. Simply stepping inside this store was a great honor that would last for several generations. That’s why even though she wasn't the first noble to visit this shop, the owner would obviously pay her extra attention. However, they were really getting on her nerves.  Tatiana stopped in her tracks, making others who were following behind her stop as well. She turned around and looked at the owner with cold eyes.  “Didn’t you hear what I said?” she asked in a tone that even the onlookers took a step back in fear. The owner’s eyes shook and bowed his head immediately. “I-I a-apologize, my lady. I just…w-wanted to help.” He stuttered. Tatiana sighed as she tried to control her temper. She looked at Sir Charles and signaled at him, which he immediately understood. Sir Charles stood in between Tatiana and the owner while facing the latter. “We’ll call you if we need help. You can leave now.” He said. The owner, still trembling, nodded his head, bowed, and walked away. The other shoppers also walked away and minded their own business. Tatiana sighed in relief after they were gone. “Are you okay, my lady?” Mia asked. Tatiana nodded and smiled to assure her. “Yes. Just a little irritated by the unwanted attention.” She replied. Sir Charles glanced at her in surprise by what she said. Before, Tatiana loved to be in the center of attention. To the point that she would do petty things just to gain attention from others.  But now, she’s different from what she used to be. Tatiana even handled her temper maturely and dismissed the owner with just a few words. Now, she’s capable of using her authority correctly. Sir Charles can’t help but feel proud as he looked at Tatiana. She really had changed. Meanwhile, Tatiana continued browsing for some things. She still doesn’t know what to give His Highness, and no matter how much she thought about it, she doesn’t have any idea at all. Noah is the Crown Prince of the empire. He’s the richest man in the empire, if not the world. As such, there is nothing in this world he couldn’t buy. What else can I give him? Tatiana sighed. This was harder than I thought.  “My lady, what are you looking for? Maybe I can help you.” Mia said after a while. Tatiana looked at her and hesitated for a moment before asking for help. “I’m looking for a gift…” she said, quietly. “Gift for whom, my lady?”  Tatiana averted her gaze and fiddled with her fingers. She was nervous about what would Mia and Sir Charles think if she told them about giving His Highness a gift. Highness a gi “For…a man…” Mia nodded and thought about it for a moment. “If it’s for a man…hmm… I think a brooch would be a good choice.” She proposed. Tatiana considered it. A brooch would be nice…but, I think His Highness has a lot of those already. He might not like it. She thought. “You can also give him cufflinks, my lady. I heard it’s a popular gift for men nowadays.” Mia added when she noticed Tatiana’s hesitations. I think His Highness also has a lot of those, but if it's a popular gift for men, then His Highness might like it? “Hmm… alright. Let’s look for some cufflinks then.” Tatiana said and grinned at Mia. Mia smiled back and pointed the direction where the cufflinks were. “That way, my lady.” The two of them walked together in that direction. Sir Charles followed behind them quietly. He grinned as he watched Tatiana get thrilled while shopping for gifts. She was never like this before, but it made Sir Charles happy, nonetheless, to see her changed for the better. Tatiana and Mia were browsing for some cufflinks when a lady approached them. “Lady Tatiana, I didn’t expect to see you here.” --- reyankleyr
