CHAPTER 67 pt.2
‘Martin is a talented doctor. It may not be known to the public, but he had a lot of significant contributions to the development of medicine in the empire. He has unparalleled knowledge and skills, but the only problem was his personality. Martin is an innocent and naive individual. Although this was not entirely a bad thing, he’s easily being taken advantage of because people see him as a genius yet credulous. As a result, he has been forced to remain in the shadows while others enjoy the honor that should have been his.
Martin undoubtedly has great potential. His vast medical knowledge and innovative ideas will be of great benefit not only to the medical field but also to the empire and its people. For these reasons, Investor J decided to invest in his business. With enough guidance, Martin was sure to succeed in this field.’
Noah frowned.
When it comes to the development of medicine in the empire, only one person came to Noah’s mind—Doctor Franklin Elias. House Elias is one of the oldest Houses in the empire known for its generations of talented doctors.
Since Franklin came from a family of talented doctors, the people had great expectations of him. But, he lived up to these expectations and showed great achievements in just a short time since he became an official doctor. He was recognized for the new medications he discovered and developed that His Majesty, the Emperor, had personally given him an honorary award. Aside from that, he also became one of the top doctors at the Royal Alvania Hospital, which is the biggest and most prestigious hospital in the empire.
However, if what was written in this report were true, then it means Doctor Franklin Elias stole Martin’s works and ideas.
Investor J wouldn’t have made this up. This report looks very credible, and Investor J doesn’t seem to be the type to lie about things like this. If it is indeed so, then this is a big scandal. Doctor Elias was already given an honorary award by His Majesty. If it turned out that he was lying all along, His Majesty would certainly not let this go.
Lying to royalty is equal to committing treason. Therefore, Duke Franklin Elias may be executed if found guilty.
Noah put that thought aside as he continued to read the last passage. His brows furrowed once again when he read the first line.
Unlike the previous paragraph, this one was a short letter directly addressed to him.
‘Your highness, you may be wondering right now as to why I gave you this document. Previously, your highness offered me a collaboration. Despite the fact that it was an honor and a privilege to work with your highness, I regret to say that I had to decline the offer due to personal circumstances. Nonetheless, even without the official collaboration, I wanted to assist your highness, which is why I presented this document to you.
As your highness had read, Martin was one of the businessmen I invested in. Aside from the fact that he sells medicinal herbs, he was also a doctor. However, that was not the only reason why I invested in him. Martin is a talented man who deserved to be referred to as "the gifted doctor." It's true that his ignorance cost him the honor he deserved, but no one is flawless, and everyone has faults. He still deserves to be given justice, uplifts his name, and acquire the honor he’s worthy of.
Considering the person Martin has to face in order to reach those dreams, the road ahead of him will be a rough one. But, your highness, don’t you also think the more you give, the more you get back? I am confident that Martin will be of tremendous assistance to your highness. Perhaps not right now, but your highness will undoubtedly benefit from Martin's knowledge and skills in the future. It's only a shame he went unnoticed until now, but I believe it's still not too late.
I will continue to do my best in helping him nurture his business, so his name will be known to the world. Although it may be difficult at this time, I hope your highness would trust my judgment and consider everything said in this document.’
After reading, Noah continued to stare at the document he was holding. He was still processing what he had just read.
It’s not difficult to understand what Investor J wanted from him. Investor J wanted Noah to support and invest in Martin as well. And in exchange, Noah can benefit from Martin’s talents and knowledge in medicine.
However, although he trust Investor J’s judgment, Noah still couldn’t grasp why? Why does he have to spend his time and money on such an unreliable offer?
Noah was hesitant not because he couldn't afford it, but because he didn't know what to expect. Money was certainly not a problem and supporting a commoner is an easy thing to do, especially for a man like Noah who is the Crown Prince of the empire. However, he can’t help but doubt why he needs to support such a man.
He's already the Crown Prince of the empire, so he doesn't understand why Investor J believes he'll need a commoner’s assistance in the future. And, even if he does require assistance, why should Noah be compelled to support Martin before he could approach him for assistance?
Aside from that, Noah would have to question Doctor Franklin Elias, which means he has to fight against the House Elias.
Compared to Franklin, Martin was only a commoner. Their status alone gives more than enough reason why proving the truth would be a very difficult task to do. Investor J knows this, which was probably why he asked Noah for assistance.
But, even with Noah’s help, challenging a House like the House Elias will take a lot of effort and time. Not to mention, it will cause a big stir in the empire, which means they have to suffer from the consequences of the scandal as well.
Noah was puzzled the whole ride. He remained silent as he thought over everything.
Meanwhile, Tatiana watched Noah as he went over the documents.
She’s not curious about the contents, since it came from her in the first place, but she was curious how Noah would react after he finished reading them.
To Noah, it may seem that Investor J only wanted to ask for the Crown Prince’s support in the pretense that the latter will benefit as well in the future. However, Tatiana’s true purpose why he asked Kai to give the document and call it a gift, was simply to help Noah.
In the novel, Martin was one of the important side characters that contributed to the development of the plot.
When Lady Beatrice was poisoned, Martin was the one who found the antidote and saved her life. Aside from that, Martin was also the one who contributed a lot to the development of the cure when an epidemic transpired in the empire. It was also then that Doctor Franklin’s lies and other corruptions in the medical field were discovered.
When Tatiana remembered this part, she didn’t hesitate to invest in him and help him make his name known. Earning Martin’s trust and acquiring him by her side will surely be beneficial later on. Aside from that, since she knows Martin’s true potential, she’s confident that his business will flourish more in the future, hence giving her more chance of success.
Although Martin and Noah will naturally meet according to the novel’s flow, Tatiana thought it would be better if they became acquainted in advance. This would allow Noah to recognize Martin’s talents early on, so later when the epidemic occurs, searching for the cure will be easy.
Besides, if Martin will later become successful, and it will be known that His Highness has supported and nurtured him. It will greatly benefit Noah’s reputation to the public.
“Are you okay, your highness?” Tatiana asked, breaking the silence. She acted as though she didn’t know anything about the document.
Noah looked up at her.
“Yes…” he uttered, then stared at Tatiana for a while more.
Should I tell her? Noah pondered. Tatiana had changed a lot and became more mature and smarter. I wonder what she thinks about this.
In the end, he decided to tell her everything.
“Actually…I'm not.”
