CHAPTER 35 (pt.2)
Tatiana changed her clothes and went back to the room where he left Kai. Mia was following behind her.
“Let’s go! We can use my brother’s private training room since I also train there.” Tatiana said to Kai.
“You’re still training? Does the duke know?” Kai asked, confusedly.
Tatiana paused at his question. She glanced at Mia whose beside her and thought deeply.
Mia doesn't know she's a skilled fighter. However, she figured Mia would find out soon enough anyway. What difference would it make if she finds out about it tonight? Also, wouldn’t it be more advantageous to her? That way, she doesn’t have to hide from Mia.
Right. This is the best decision.
Tatiana looked back at Kai and answered,
“No, he doesn’t nor does my brother. I intend to keep it a secret from them for a while, so please be careful when they’re around.”
Kai nodded in understanding.
“I understand. Anyways, are we really going to do it tonight?” Kai scratched his head as he hesitated.
Tatiana just suddenly suggested they'll have a last-minute training, and Kai is nowhere from being prepared.
“Of course! You'll have to prepare for tomorrow, so when's the better time to train if not tonight? Tatiana grinned. "Let’s go!” she said, enthusiastically, and pulled Kai’s hand. They both stepped outside and headed towards the training grounds.
Meanwhile, Mia was following them all confused.
What are they doing? She thought to herself.
When they’ve arrived at the training grounds, they entered the room where Tatiana and Noah usually train. Tatiana then turned to Mia,
“Mia, you can stay there and watch. Make sure to stay at safe distance,” she ordered. Despite her perplexity, Mia nodded and moved over to the bench on the side.
“Let’s use a sword today. You can choose one for me.” Tatiana said to Kai.
Kai chuckled and nodded.
“Alright. I’ll choose a good one for you,” he said, with a teasing voice.
“Oh please, even a wooden sword will do.” Tatiana joked. Kai just shook his head before he walked towards where the swords are kept.
Tatiana, on the other hand, did some stretching. She's finally fighting with real swords, so she's feeling excited.
“Here, my lady,” Kai said as he gave her a long sword. He even did a bow, like a knight would do, that made Tatiana laugh.
“Thank you, sir knight.” Tatiana played along. They both laughed at themselves, then positioned themselves and ready their stances.
“Are you really sure about this, my lady? What if you get hurt? Wouldn’t I be in trouble then?” Kai asked though he's not really worried. He knows too well that he can't defeat Tatiana.
Tatiana smirked at him.
“That is if you can even manage to hurt me.” she teased. Kai grinned and shook his head.
“Challenge accepted, my lady.” His expression turned serious the instant he said that. Tatiana became serious as well.
Kai did the first attack. He swung his sword at Tatiana, but Tatiana just stepped back to avoid it. Kai swung his sword again, and Tatiana effortlessly dodge it.
“Is that all you got? How are you going to win tomorrow, if you just thoughtlessly swing your sword like that?” Tatiana taunted.
Kai clenched his jaw and attacked forward aggressively. This time, Tatiana used her sword to defend herself.
Tatiana frowned and glared at Kai.
Although it was a good move, Kai was still being thoughtless.
Kai is angry, so he’s being aggressive. But if he continues, he’ll end up clouding his mind with anger and wouldn’t be able to think clearly.
“Kai, clear your mind and think of my next moves!” Tatiana shouted and turned her body.
Kai lunged forward, but Tatiana just slashed his sword. Tatiana did another spin while blocking his sword. Because of this, Kai's sword slipped and Tatiana's blade was able to slice his cheek. They paused for a while to catch their breaths.
"Did you already forget what I taught you? Don't grip your sword too tightly or you'll not be able to defend yourself!" Tatiana shouted again.
Kai clenched his jaw as he wipe off his sweat. He didn't say anything and continued to listen.
"Kai, your opponents are skilled, but so are you! You just have to believe in yourself and have more confidence." Tatiana sighed and held her stance again. "Let's try this again. This time, I want you to be aggressive, but clear your mind and read your opponent. Think in advance so you can act accordingly."
Kai nodded and also prepared his stance. He attacked first again, but he made sure to have a counterattack prepared. He took Tatiana's advice that when Tatiana spun to attack, he was able to block her.
Tatiana smirked at this.
Good. As expected of the soon-to-be one of the best knights in the empire, he learns fast.
Their fight continued with both of them not wanting to lose. They thrust, slashed, block, and spanned, but neither of them showed exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Mia, who’s now standing, is overwhelmed with emotions. She’s shocked, confused, and amazed all at the same time. She gasps in fear when Tatiana is almost hit, but then cheer when Tatiana defends herself and counterattack.
Mia found herself fangirling over her lady. At that moment, she could only think how cool her lady is. Tatiana was like a different person—no, she is totally a different person. Mia could never imagine seeing Tatiana like this. She was fighting with a man who’s double her size, yet she still manages to look graceful and elegant. Her moves were so precise and natural that she seems like she’s dancing.
Amazing! Truly amazing!
