Terror welled up in Kess. She grabbed the extra pillow and held it in front of her. Something sliced through it, ripping it apart, and sending its contents all over the room. She kicked out and felt her foot strike something. She jumped out of bed and began to scream as loudly as possible for help. She wished that the small night light in her room had been brighter. She scanned the room to see where the attacker had landed. A sickening feeling raced through her as she realized her attacker was invisible. A low growl came from in front of her.
