Chapter 5

650 Words
Cal and Sadie pulled into the yard and walked up to the office. 'Here we go' they both thought, this was it. Sadie opened the door and they both walked in. "What is all this?" Sadie said Cal didn't say a word, this was too much. Sadie's entire body was trembling. Everyone could see she was losing it. She had never changed before, and no one really knew what would happen to her the first time that she did. Gran had always said it would be left a mystery as to if she would take after the 'witch gene' or the 'werewolf gene'. Either way, something was happening, and either things were going to catch on fire, or a hairy beast would be appearing very soon if Sadie couldn't figure how to control it soon. 'Maybe all the rumors were true about Sadie being a half blood' Cal thought. He had never seen anyone act like this. Just at the second that Sadie couldn't contain herself any longer, Cal grabbed her and pulled her into a 'bear hug'. Sadie's entire body stopped trembling at once. 'What the hell' his arms felt like home, Sadie thought. Josh had an amused look on his face and continued talking about the wedding plans, he had apparently been speaking the entire time. The only thing that both Cal and Sadie heard was that the wedding was scheduled for two weeks from tomorrow. Cal and Cindy stood there, shocked and unable to speak. Sadie turned abruptly and stormed out of the office, 'this can't be happening!' she thought. She got into her car, turned on the ignition and started driving, not knowing where she was going just letting her gas pedal and steering wheel lead the way. By the next morning Cindy was frantic, "where in the world could she be?" Cindy had gone after Sadie, but lost her when she seen Sadie heading onto the highway. Josh had sent Jaxson to sit at the end of the street Sadie lived on to watch her house. Jaxson had just gotten to his parents house and reported that Sadie had not been home all night. Cindy picked up her phone and called Sadie again, she had already left six voice mails. Sadie never ignored her mother, they were the best of friends and did everything together. *ring, ring* no answer. Jaxson's phone buzzed.  When Jaxson looked at his phone his eyes went wide and his jaw fell open, Sadie had just sent him a text message. "Look after Tibbles for me, I don't know when i'll be back - Sadie" Cindy grabbed the phone and looked at the message. Cindy fell to the floor "what have we done!?" she cried. Cindy and Jaxson sat in silence for the rest of the day staring at nothing. 'What and how were they going to tell Josh when he got home?' Josh had spent most of the day avoiding Cindy, she was mad at him and he didn't need to ask why. Sadie had always been more independent and free spirited than the rest, she was a born leader and had always gone against anything she was told to do. Cindy and Josh had to use reverse psychology on Sadie as a youngster,  "don't clean your room Sadie" it was the only way Cindy and Josh could get her to do anything. Of course, it didn't take long for her to figure out what they were really doing, then the bribery started. It was as if a light bulb went off in Josh's brain. Josh hopped into his truck to head home. When Josh walked in he instantly knew something was wrong, the ambiance of the entire space was completely wrong. Two minutes earlier when he had pulled into the yard he had seen Jaxson's car, which wasn't at all out of the ordinary, the kids always came and went. Josh walked into the kitchen, Cindy looked up at him with puffy eyes and tear-stained cheeks. "What's wrong?" Josh asked. Jaxson stepped up beside his mom. They were going to stand in solidarity together. "She's gone" Cindy stated blankly.
