Chapter 2

Cal was known as the local ‘womanizer’ and Sadie hated every ounce of his being.

He was a smug, egotistical, smart a**, who was just under 6"0' dark hair and eyes and a beard that made his face look long and fat.

Cal had been also trying to get in Sadie’s pants for years and she had never given him the time of day.

Plus Sadie couldn’t stand looking at him for every time they would make eye contact she would feel out of body as if it was melting and betraying her.

Sadie hated feeling out of control, and even more, she hated feeling like she needed anything or anyone in this world.

She was strong, independent and was determined to earn her piece of the company, no one was going to come between her and her life goals.

Josh approached Cal as soon as he exited his truck and reached out to shake his hand.

“It will be a pleasure working with you Cal”

Cal returned the shake “Likewise Mr. Martins”

“Please, Call me Josh”

Josh reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys for one of the company trucks, he handed them to Cal.

“Please lets go into the office to speak about commissions, and arrangements for your training”, Josh led the way, directly towards Sadie.

Sadie’s jaw was in her lap, wide-eyed and terrified she watched the encounter unfold before her.

‘I am going to have to work with this, this, a**hole!!’.

Sadie looked at the clock and realized that she thankfully only had ten minutes and she could get the heck out of here and go home.

Those ten minutes couldn’t go by fast enough.

I seen Sadie watching her dad and I out of the corner of my eye,

‘Gawd she is beautiful’

I honestly didn’t even hear much of what Josh Martins had been saying to me, anytime I was ever within eye shot of Sadie I felt like I would lose control, she pi**ed me off so damn bad.

I had never been turned down in my entire life until I met Sadie we had met through some mutual friends and the b**ch wouldn’t even give me the time of day.

Made me want her more, just to prove to the guys that I was still their alpha.

I placed the keys Mr. Martins handed me into my pocket.

I never wanted this stupid job, but we needed a merger with our clans, with the way everything in the city had been going our mayor was going to destroy us all if we didn’t stick together.

Plus my grandpa had heard a rumor that Josh was considering retiring, but couldn’t because his son wouldn’t step up and Sadie, well not only is she 'just a girl', but she wasn’t biologically Josh Martins or a pure blood.

I wasn’t entirely sure if any of these rumors were true, but I was here to find out.

I followed Mr. Martins into the office and past Sadie, she glared at me, it was like daggers piercing my skin 

‘I have never felt more hated, if looks could kill!’

it was then that I came up with a plan of my own, I was going to make in my goal to pi** her off and drive her just as crazy as she drove me

‘it was time to fight fire with fire’

I gave Sadie a little smirk and held out my hand,

“hey, I’m Cal. Looks like we are going to be working together”

Sadie looked at me, unfazed and took my hand in hers.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sadie”.

I let Sadie’s hand go and studied her face for a second.

‘This might be more difficult than I thought, she is hard to read’

I gave her a wink and followed Josh into the other room, as I was closing the door I glanced back to see Sadie gathering her things and walking casually out the door.
