Chapter 1

650 Words
Life had always been lousy, the small city that Sadie grew up in was sad, the main forms of entertainment were ‘going for coffee’ or driving ‘loser laps’, there were four main streets that created a square and Sadie’s friends would drive around for hours aimlessly, it really wasn’t her idea of a ‘good time’. Prince Albert was in the heart of Saskatchewan, Canada. The entire city was run by a serious egotistical Vampire, he and his ‘army’ had taken over city hall, and the police station already. Mayor Dean Geoff also had a serious hate for anyone unlike him and was trying to drive the other ‘clans’ out, meaning that many of the local companies that were run by werewolves or witches were losing business, facing higher taxes or just being shut down and run out entirely. Of course, there were also the ‘normals’ as we called them, the humans that Mr. Geoff kept around. Rumor was always that he used scare tactics of changing them in order to keep them ‘in line’ with his ever-changing rules, but that no matter what that it was in his plan to change them all in time. The city was divided into areas, East Flat and East hill, was where the werewolves and witches lived, and interestingly enough where most of the businesses were, most of the homes had a very ‘middle class’ feel to them. West Hill was all Vampires, and of course was full of all the newest, largest homes. The West Flat was mostly humans, but also many of the hybrids that didn’t fit into any other group, this area was more run down, many of the houses had peeling paint, unkempt yards, and broken fences. No one cared much about the West Flat, and majority of people avoided the area altogether.   Sadie was 23 years old, and single.  She had dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes. Sadie was 5"4' and a bit too skinny for her height. Sadie was also a hybrid. Her mom, Cindy a werewolf who Sadie looked almost identical too, except that Cindy had dark brown hair and brown eyes.  Her dad, Robert a warlock, who had dark hair, green eyes and a belly that he quite often used as a table. Cindy and Robert had been in love, but social status always won over love. Sadie had seen it time and time again. Which is why Cindy ended up with Josh, a narcissistic werewolf business mogul. Josh stood just under 6"0' and was built like a brick house, with wide shoulders and a fat neck. He had hair so blonde it looked white and bright blue eyes that looked like they could see into a persons soul. Cindy and Josh were horrible for each other but had been together since Sadie was eighteen months old and Josh was truthfully more of a dad to her than her biological father was. Cindy and Josh had a son together when Sadie was seven years old, Jaxson, Cindy’s ‘golden child’ and the heir to the family business. Jaxton at just 16 was already almost 6"0', and although he had his dads broad shoulders, was lanky and awkward.  He had his moms dark brown hair and brown eyes. Jaxson was also kinda a jerk and would take every opportunity possible to rub this into his sister face that he was the favorite, Sadie was always the black sheep. Jaxson owned a brand new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro and would leave bank statements laying around when he knew that Sadie was coming over. Sadie found this infuriating; she had been trying for years to show Josh that she wasn’t just ‘a girl’ and she was capable and worthy. Everything just worked against her, as she was neither a ‘pure blood’ or Josh’s biological child. Regardless, Sadie tirelessly worked for the family business in hopes that one day she would earn Josh’s respect and prove him wrong.   That was until the day that Cal Robinson showed up...
