season 4 chapter4

Aliyah stepped out from behind him, standing tall, holding Gabriel’s small hand firmly in hers. She looked at Selene, at Julian, at the tapestry, at the very bed where she had first seen Damian—pale, suffering, and the most beautiful thing she had ever known. “You think I came here by luck,” she said, her voice steady and calm, filling the whole room. “You think I walked into the wrong room and stole a life I did not deserve. But you are wrong. That night, I had nothing. I had just lost everything I thought mattered. I was hurt, angry, and ready to throw every part of myself away. And when I opened that door… I did not see a rich man or a powerful heir. I saw someone who was hurting. And I chose to stay. That was not luck. That was me. That was my heart.” She lifted the silver star locket from her neck, holding it up so they could all see it glimmer in the light. “You talk about destiny as if it is a chain, or a rule, or a plan written in stone. But you never understood what the prophecy truly meant. Destiny is not what happens to you. Destiny is what you choose when everything is dark. You wanted me to choose between wealth and love? There is no choice. Because all the gold and power and name in the world… is nothing compared to one single night of holding his hand.” She turned to Damian, her eyes soft and bright, and then to Gabriel, who looked up at her with absolute trust. “We will not trade our truth for your legacy. We do not need your permission, or your approval, or your crown. We built our happiness with nothing but care and courage. And if we must walk away from every title and every fortune to keep it… then we will walk away. And we will still be richer than you could ever dream of being.” Selene’s face twisted, angry and desperate. “You fool! If you walk away, you lose everything! The empire, the name, the influence—all of it will return to us! History will forget you ever existed!” “Let it,” Damian answered softly, but with such strength it silenced them all. “History writes names on stone and paper. But love writes itself on hearts. And that… no one can ever erase. You can have the company, the money, the land. But you will never have what we have. You will never understand it. And that is your punishment, not ours.” He turned to Aliyah and Gabriel, his smile bright and sure. “Come. We are going home.”
