Amara’s POV Caspian and I stood in silence. Both of us knew exactly why we were there. The room felt colder than it should. I felt his gaze on me. My eyes stayed fixed elsewhere. I would not meet his. He remembered what we had been. I saw it written clearly across his face. He remembered the woman who once looked at him with nothing but love. Who trusted him with her whole life. Who truly believed nothing could ever tear us apart. That woman was gone. I knew it deep in my bones. He took a step closer. Every muscle in my body drew tight. His hand settled light upon my shoulder. I watched him as if floating in a strange dream. That same distant feeling washed over me again. I stood apart. Watching from somewhere far away. I saw him. I saw myself. I saw the space stretching between us
