Opening the door to my room, I ran inside, my court shoes flying along with the formal suit I was wearing. I leapt to the bed where Dax was already waiting for me. He was still blinking away sleep from his eyes.
“I still can’t believe you’re actually here!” I shrieked happily, holding Dax tight. “I’ve missed you so much!”
He holds me even tighter and chuckles. “I’ve missed you too, Anna, but don't get your hopes up. I’m not staying for long.”
My lips quivered in a frown. “What? Until when?”
Dax shoots me an apologetic look. “Tomorrow.”
“That’s too soon!” Just when I thought I could get a little normalcy with my best friend in the capital, he wouldn't be staying.
He affectionately squeezes my arms. “I’m not supposed to be here in the first place. It’s just my day off. I only came to
