Chapter thirty three: It was all but a Trap

1438 Words
Amidst feeling shocked from the sudden appearing of Leandro, Alina Vandergaugh quickly drew her Airbow and fiercely pointed it towards him. “What are you doing here?” she asked. “I told you, I have to get back what is mine,” Leandro answered with an evil smirk displayed in his face. Alina blew an air of sarcasm with the hint of mocking. All of it was painted on her face as well. “And what have we stolen that wasn't ours?” Suddenly, Leandro disappeared from above the air where he was just floating. “You, Alina.” Alina quickly jolted as she realized that Leandro was at her back, holding both her shoulders, and whispering in husk. She then quickly pointed her Airbow to where Leandro was, but was disappointed when she realized he was gone. Then another whisper, “You are mine. Don't you know?” She did a quick arcing of her elbow. This time, the luck had sided with her. She managed to give a hard blow to his face, causing him to be outbalanced. She then pulled the string of her Airbow, and made a giant pressure of air earned in the middle of the weapon. But when she released the pressure, Leandro, again, disappeared. His laugh echoed in the whole surrounding. Alina grunted in frustration as she circled his sight to the surrounding, expecting a dirty man to appear from anywhere it can be possible. Now she shouted, “I am not someone's property, Leandro! I am not a thing! I am a person, and I own myself, psycho!” A shadow appeared in her front. From it, Leandro showed his face. “You are mine, Alina. You are mine.” She quickly jabbed Leandro's face, but just like his old tactic, he suddenly disappeared. ‘If only I could put light orb at my Airbow,’ Alina thought. Yet she knew that filling the socket of her weapon would take time. Surely, by the time socket-filling would finish, Leandro might have already done something horrible to her. “Mine!” From above, she saw Leandro coming to her, attacking her with one of his shadow blades. It was a quick moment she can't immediately react to. She knew she can't dodge that attack made by Leandro—that attack made by someone who has a dark, annoying smile, that could give her worst nightmares everytime she would try to sleep. Then, just before the knife could land on her forehead, a quick flash of lightning dragged Leandro away of his supposed to be perfect execution of attack. When she looked at the direction where it came from, she saw Jiero holding a throwing position. Her gray eyes were glowing in bluish white light. At the side of those eyes, electric remnants are sizzling and being dragged by the lukewarm breeze of the air. Alina then, did not waste any moment anymore. Jiero had once again, helped her. That is why, she have to finish it. She quicky pulled the string of her Airbow, and sucked in the energy of the air. She can see how disoriented Leandro is, as he was trying to remove Jiero's electric trident spear that was deeply stabbed at his chest. She then pointed at Leandro's head. He was still struggling with the pain that the trident spear has been giving him. ‘Relax. Calculate the exact position.’ And when she felt the exact timing, the exact force, the exact distance, she released the string. It could have directly hit him—until a black, feathered wings suddenly blocked and interfered the Airbow's attack. “Summoning skill: Astaroth's Spirit,” Alina heard Silver casting. The wings came from Leandro's back. His shirt was ripped as the black angel-like wings started to spread in his back. With the ripping of his shirt, it revealed his well-toned body: the muscles, the chest, the biceps, those abs. Yet, it didn't changed the fact that he was still a villain. A bad guy. The trident that was buried in his lower left chest suddenly went back to Jiero, leaving Leandro's chest to spill insane amount of blood. Yet, he didn't care. “Alina,” Jiero called, “he powerful. I need help.” Alina nodded. “Whatever I can help, I will surely support you.” “Kill we not allow. But we fight.” Then, he spun his trident fast. He prepared for a fight. Alina did so, too. ‘Will I be able to make it if I socket-fill my airbow?’ she thought. “Jiero, would you be able to buy me a little bit of time? I have to equip something.” Jiero nodded. He dashed towards Leandro who was now evilly smiling at him. He then touched the three blades of his trident spear. Surprisingly, the blade produced a sound—as if it was a stringed instrument. Then he stopped. He thrust the handle of the trident spear at the ground, and crossed his arms, making the spear to fall in between of it. “Skill: Seraph Watcher!” An illusionary eye appeared for a split-second at the front of the trident. Leandro had no idea about it, but when he was about to move, his body failed to. His body shook. His body felt unexplainable fear of being watched. There was a huge pressure falling on Leandro—on where he stands. The gravity felt pulling strong. The world seems too heavy. It was as if a giant horrible eye was watching him from his back. Alina then, quickly moved and opened her inventory. She grabbed enough amount of lightorbs that will give her the power to use the Call of the Angel’s Purgatory. “Fill socket,” she commanded. Sooner, the weapon was radiantly glowing in white light. “Equip: Sabertooth's wisdom.” A hairclip suddenly appeared at her hair, near her ears. Light then appeared at it, and formed an eyeglass. From it, words, letters and percentages started to appear on her sight. “Skill: Angel's Arrow,” she casted. As she released the string of her arrow, five pointed lights came rushing towards the restricted Leandro. “Skill: Demon's whip!” Leandro, from panic, casted a skill amidst being unable to move. Whipping shadows started to appear in his front. Those shadowy tentacles were joyfully dancing and freely waving in the air, like it does not care from whatever it could brutally or deadly hit. The shadow tentacles met the piercing light from Alina's arrow. Both of it disintegrated from its own forceful attacks. The clashing of the wind was the after-effect of it. Alina covered her face to restrict the dusts and wind that has been hitting her. Jiero, on the other hand, were consistently casting his skill without any interruption, nor blinking of his eyes. “Jiero!” Alina shouted, signaling that he can now move and ease off of the Seraph Watcher skill. He then grabbed and pulled his trident out of the ground. He casted another skill. “Skill: Watcher's blade.” The trident spear transformed into a newer weapon. From the weapon with three blade at its top, his weapon melted like a malleable metal. Soon, it wasn't a trident spear anymore, but of a lightweight sharp long sword. “Skill: Scales of Shadow Dragon!” Leandro casted another skill. As he flapped his wings, scales of blades forwarded to Jiero's direction. Alina pulled her string for the second time. She cannot let Jiero be defeated by that insane man who was claiming his questionable ownership towards her. “Skill: Angel's arrow!” Another set of sharp arrows started to dominate the sky. It successfully deflected few of the scale blades that was rushing towards Jiero. The remaining scale blades was easily avoided by the child. Some were sliced into two by his sharp blade, some were forced to stop by the waves of thunder from his blade. He jumped as he neared Leandro. He placed his blade at the side, preparing for a sharp slice. The man he was about to attack had expressed shock and fear, looking as if he knew no more ways to counter the attack. That he is weak. That it would be his end. That it would be his death. It was all but a trap. For Jiero remained at his slashing positon—or more so, froze in it. Stuck. Unable to move. Then, Leandro, from shock, changed his expression. He slowly smiled towards Jiero's front. “Skill: Threads of Hell,” he said.
