Chapter forty seven: But can he do it?

1670 Words
“Ah! s**t!” Silver Cassano cannot help himself but to release series of cusses as his arm excruciated in an unbelievable amount of pain. The left of his arm was broken. It was just in a sudden happening, that he found his left arm broken, hanging like a dehydrated plant. Earlier, he met the soaring attack of the Moon Eagle’s left wing who was angry of him. He did no reason of the eagle being angry of him, but a beast is a beast; it would attack and kill him. Perhaps, it was angry of him because it was the guardian of this place. The Moon Eagle screeched. It was flying high above the sky, ready to dive towards him, and preparing for another windy assault. “Here we go again,” he said. He then prepared himself. He held his whip tight. Soon as the Moon Eagle was about to grasp him with the use of its sharp claw, he activated the skill of his own nightbound vest. “Skill: Shadow step.” The Moon Eagle then became confused as it saw how Silver disappeared from where he was standing, leaving only few traces of shadows that swirled just at its front. It halted, flapped its wings as it turned its alerted senses. Silver then was able to move fast. He appeared at the back of the eagle without it being noticed. He grabbed its feather, so that he won't be able to fall down, if ever it would fly again. The eagle then screeched and flapped its wings heavily. It soared back into the highest peak of the dark sky, dragging Silver and causing him to get series of cuts on his face. The wind was a powerful element, but the Moon Eagle was the one who can control through it. Silver threw his Whip Vine going to the Moon Eagle's neck. Then he screamed. He used his left broken arm to throw it, causing the pain to click through him again. His bone was crushed. Fortunately, he was able to swirl and tie the whip through its neck. He thought of pulling his weapon, the moment that the lash was able to be tied around its neck. Yet, he realized he would be at the disadvantage, for they were soaring high in the sky. Had he tried killing the beast in the very moment, he would fall to the moon's surface (that has wind and gravity). And die. He could use the same tactic he had done to make himself safe upon landing, but he wasn't sure if it would be effective from the high level of the Eagle's flying. Add the fact that one of his arm was broken, the chance of him to survive would deplete in a smaller number. And so he waited. The Moon Eagle continued to screech. It then flapped wildly as it can feel the pain coiling around its neck. Soon, it began tired. It then stopped flapping wildly, and made a still spread of its wings. The wind turned smooth and serene. The wind was tamed. For a moment, Silver was able to breath. Then back to being wild. The Moon eagle decided to dive down, meeting the rough marble ground. But the beast, in surprise, was having a weird position of its diving. Soon, few meters before they could meet the ground, Silver realized that the eagle was diving in a flipped position. Its back was facing the ground, attempting him to be crashed and scalped with the use of colliding its back to the ground, added with the element of its own diving speed. ‘No!’ Silver’s shock caused him to execute his plans in a shorter, abrupt time. He pulled his own whip, and the eagle screeched. It screamed pain, as its flying became unsteady. The Moon Eagle was now beheaded. The eagle's big head flew towards him. He ducked and bore himself in the feather of the flying beast. The head was left behind where it was decapitated while he, continued to reach the morbid features of the ground—along with the headless Moon Eagle. The flying beast then shone in bright white. For a second, Silver was blinded by it. Even the Moon Eagle's feather was shining too. Then, in an instant, the body exploded in fireflies of white light. It was beautiful, indeed, and Silver would have been appreciating it, had he no enough reason to panic in the current moment. “To die or not to die, that is the question.” He was about to crash towards the surface of the moon. Adding to his unlucky faith, not a few meters was a sharp tip of a shining stone that if ever he won't be able to stop his falling, he would meet it. And he would be pierced by it. He was certain that through the stone's tip, it would cause him fatal wound. And soon, death. He then wielded his own weapon again. ‘A motion distraction,’ he thought. He slashed the whip to the ground, in a circling motion. It created a form: a wheel; a rolling wheel made of green vines and a spinning Silver. As the whip met the ground, he did his best to control and counter the force of crashing. He bounced as the force was distracted. Then, he did three more whipping attack to the ground, rolled like a detached wheel, until the force of the motion died. His knees was wounded, along with his face. His arm broken and painful. Now he decided to open his inventory, and drink a health potion. He wanted to immediately remove and heal both his wounds and then his broken arm. As he finished the liquid inside the bottle, his energy felt replenished. The wounds in his body closed. The broken, distorted arm was now fixed and was able to move. He then ran towards the capsules where his comrades can be found. But before he could reach it, something has caught his eyes. Something, from the place where the eagle had bursted to death, is a single glitter of light. It was the loot. And it was moving—flying, not floating. He neared through it in quick move. Then he found an unusual loot. “Hell, what is this?” he asked himself. He saw the loot glowing in white shine of the light. But, unlike the usual loot, it was barely different. It wasn't just floating, but it was moving, flying. A luminous light in the form similar of a small butterfly, has been flying peacefully at his front. He then raised his wrist, and pointed it to the flying creature. He wanted to check it if indeed it was a loot. Then red rays started to emit from the screen. It pointed and connected to the flying butterfly-like creature. *** Pet detected: Artemis' Wing (1) *** The display that was seen on his LCD was different from the usual words he has been seeing when he was acquiring loots. ‘Pet?’ he asked himself. He then set it aside of his worries. He needs to save his comrades first before minding what kind of loot did he managed to obtain. He unsummon his vine whip and replaced it with the ordinary hammer he equipped earlier. The first capsule he went into, was of Alina's. He can see how the hardship and trouble was pasted on her face as she closes her eyes. She was absorbed in terrible nightmare. She was moving her head left and right while her brows are colliding, looking as if she was having a hard time. He questioned himself if his decision of hammering the capsules would be right. ‘What if I put them into more trouble?’ he asked. But time is running out. Again. A group of howling creature appeared a few meters away from where he was standing. He looked at it, at the swarm of new creatures nearing through him. “s**t,” he muttered. Having a seemingly transparent reflection, the new group of beasts that was about to attack him is a slow-moving creature. In them, is only a single eye. Blood red. They have the body of an ordinary human—arms, legs, chest, and head. Yet, they may have a single eye, but, Silver can deeply see, that the creatures moving to him had no face to offer: no lips, nose, or even ears. Just the single eye moving frantically as they look at him, with bloodlust. ‘Then I have to do this,’ he finally decided. With one brute force applied to his arm, he hammered the glass door of the capsule. As it broke, loud shattering of the glass has disturbed the entire eerie place—disturbed the howling creatures. Then from howl, the beasts changed it into an angry growl. He had no idea how the beasts released that kind of sound, wherein they have no mouth to use. Then the beast's eyes widened. From frantic moving, their stares was now fixed at a single direction. It was fixed at him. With a sudden second, the faceless human-like creature ran towards him. He had to deal with it again. Another tiring battle. He then looked at Alina. The green frothing water was now flushed away of her. The closing of her eyes were now serene and looking unbothered. ‘I just hope . . . what I am doing is the right thing.’ In a quick move, he then hammered the two next capsule beside Alina's. It was of Jiero and Yohanna. Now that he's done, he then looked back to see the creatures that was running towards him. He unsummoned the hammer, and changed it back to the vine whip. Now, what he needs to do, is to protect the capsule from this beasts until all of them would be awaken. But can he do it?
