Chapter thirty seven: The Flower of the Archer Goddess

823 Words
“Ahhhhh!” The scream of Silver, Alina, Jiero, and Yohanna was echoing in the whole surrounding. They were sliding. Rapidly. Their bodies were laying flat on a smooth surface as they rapidly fell downwards, to an unknown, perhaps dangerous dimension. Silver never expected that this thing would happen to them. He tried his best to stop the motion of his sliding body, but to no avail, the gravity has been pulling them downwards. “We have to do something!” shouted Alina. “Silver! Use your gloves!” followed Yohanna. As Silver tried opening his own inventory, the holographic screen became glitchy and uncomprehensive as they were moving and sliding rapidly. “I can't!” he shouted back. “Ahhh!” Jiero was panicking as he was also sliding too fast in the sliding course. It felt like this slide were naturally made for a roller coaster ride. Series of twists and turns, curves and circles following the path. Silver tried to think of a better plan. ‘What to do?’ he asked himself. He threw back his vine whip backwards to gain a potential force, then jolted it upwards, towards where a bar of metal could be found. The whip circled the metal bar. It made a sudden jolt for him to stop. But it was ineffective. Alina, Yohanna and Jiero were right behind him. And since their sliding force was too fast, it was in any minute that they bumped at Silver's back. “Ow!” Alina grunted. Then another “Ow! Hey, don't be ridiculous!” as Yohanna followed bumping her body. Then Jiero followed. Silver’s grip to the vine were now painful. The weight of the three people behind his back were adding too much of a burden for him. “Y-You're too . . . heavy!” he said, just as his whip cannot support them anymore. With that, they slid in the dangerous course again. “Ahhhh!” They started screaming hard and loud. They followed the path of the slide as if they have no choice but to do it. The good thing about this (or maybe not), is that half of the sliding course are of a tube-like. When they reached the half of the slide, the tube-like structure had made them looking like a pitiful hamster sliding towards an unsure death. The course became more aggressive and edgy. There were more curves, more turns, more circles. “P-Please! Someone help us!” Yohanna said, now crying. Silver realized that Yohanna was afraid and knee-weak in this kind of situation. On the other hand, Alina was now calm and trying to figure out solutions to escape the things that is happening to them. “Alina!” Silver screamed. “Does the Sabertooth's wisdom tells you anything how to get rid of this?” “No!” answered back Alina in screaming tone as well. “Sabertooth's wisdom can't figure out anything!” They were lost of hope. For a minute, they knew nothing to do but to scream, to follow the sliding course of the metal, and to wish that this would already end. And it did happened. The sliding path had finally reached its end. On an upward slope of the course, the slide reached its end. As Silver saw it coming, he screamed again, despite knowing that the wind are trying to hinder his voice. “Prepare!” he shouted, “We're going to face death!” As they reached the end, all of them rocketed upwards, floating freely in the air—at least for a second. Then, when they realized that it was already the end, that there were no slides anymore, they plunged downwards, being pulled by the gravity. “Ugh!” Alina grunted as they all fell to the ground. Luckily, it was not hard nor painful when they fell. Soon, they realized that instead the place looking as if a dangerous, world of dead-looking, dull dimension, it was actually beautiful. Fascinating. The place were no fields of dead and wither, but of a metallic white flowers. Those flowers were cottony and peaceful to look at. They were all shining. Or more like, glowing. Like the metallic glow of the moon in the middle of the night. Alina's Sabertooth’s wisdom had started to work again. Earlier, it was malfunctioning as they all faced the danger of the slide. Now, it started to blink words and names again, floating abundantly in her eyes. One of the words that was floating in her sight was the name of the flower. She touched the cotton-like, metallic-glowing flower. Then, she said, “Artemisa, the flower of the archer goddess.” It was beautiful—both Alina and the flower. And, as Silver saw and watch them, he couldn't agree more. Much as how beautiful is the flower, he can see . . . Alina was beautiful too.
