Osiris POV-
Is Andrew crazy? He has put some thought and research into this idea. Research and Andrew two words nobody would’ve ever put together in the same sentence. I’m the thinker and planner of the three of us.
Maybe Alsie is our mate, maybe she is good for us. I should probably say something. Sitting here looking at these two being totally silent is not a good idea.
“Osiris, hello?”
“Earth to Osiris?”
“Sorry guys. That was a lot to take in. Andrew and research have me stumped.”
“Oh, ha-ha big brother. I see you have jokes. I research stuff.”
“No, no you don’t. Not ever in your life have you researched something.” laughs Evander.
“Well, since we are out here telling secrets and surprising each other. I guess I’ll go next. I made sure she got that job at the diner. I told Alex that I would have my prom dinner there if he hired her.” Stated Andrew
“I paid off the car note on her Rover.” Admitted Evander
“I used to sit outside her bedroom window when she lived in the packhouse and wait for her to go to sleep. Sometimes, I would fall asleep under that window and wake up cold or wet from the rain a few hours later.”
“So, you are a stalker, huh Andrew.”
“Remember way back in middle school when James Brock shut her hair in his locker on accident? I beat him up after school for that.”
“That’s why he couldn’t in the championship basketball game? You beat him up.”
“Yeah, Andrew, and I made him swear not to tell anyone or else I’d it again as soon as he got better.”
“Osiris, you don’t fight. I mean we all know you can, the whole pack sees you in training, but you always chose words over violence.”
“I know Evander. I just couldn’t help myself. She was so small back then, and I know it was an accident. Jimmy was never mean to her, but I couldn’t control the anger and rage I felt when I heard about what happened. I even made an excuse to go to the office to see her in the nurse’s room. She had been crying and you could see a small cut on the side of her face from the locker door scraping her face as it closed. All I could see was red. Up to that point in life, I’d never been that angry before. I wanted to kill him.”
“Guys what were you doing out here tonight, and how come I couldn’t sense you?”
“I shut down my mind link between you two. I didn’t want to take any chances that one or both of you would find out I was coming out here.” Said Evander sheepishly
“Same.” Admitted Andrew
“Same.” I said nodding my head in agreement
“Evander, Osiris, what do we do now?”
“Well Andrew, I think we need to talk with Alsie. But since she just went to work, it could be a while before she’s back. The next best thing is to speak with mom and dad. If we’re all in agreement that our Luna should be Alsie with or without the mate bond.”
Both Andrew and Evander replied “Agreed.”
“Ok but before we leave this spot, you must answer us truthfully. You kissed her! What was it like?”
“C’mon Evander a gentleman never kisses and tells.” I responded playfully.
“Nope, not gonna work. I’m not leaving this picnic table until you spill it.”
“Fine. You want the truth? It was f*****g amazing! You know what else… I was the first one of us to kiss our future Luna.” I bragged
“No, you weren’t.”
“WHAT? Yes, I was. We were all there. You witnessed it, Andrew. Right over there in her driveway.” I pointed to the driveway we just walked away from to come over and sit at this very picnic table.
Andrew just sat there shaking his head no and then he grinned that cheshire cat grin of his as he said “I was the first to kiss her. We were in 10th grade, and it was in the hallway upstairs, on the 2nd floor, the night of mom and dad’s 25th anniversary party. She was coming out of the storage closet, I didn’t see her, I knocked her over. I bent down to help her up and when she stood up, I was still slightly leaning over her. I bent down to her level and kissed her.”
“Wow. So somehow, I’m the only one of the three of us who hasn’t kissed her. I’ve got to fix that.”
“Evander, you mean to tell me that you didn’t kiss her when you went to her job to take her to lunch, last week?”
Surprise does not begin to explain the look on my brother’s face.
“How did you know about that, O?”
“Alpha of Alphas, knows everything.” I laughingly said. I’ll never sell out my source.
“Let’s go you two. Let’s go have a talk with mom and dad.”
“Yeah, about that O, why don’t you talk to mom and dad. Evander and I will be there for moral support and in agreement of this choice. But I feel we shouldn’t need to say much. This feels like more of the “older brother” talk to the parental unit thing.”
“Yep. What Andrew said. I agree with Andrew, Osiris. You’re the oldest. Having a mate talk with mom and dad definitely feels like a conversation you should be the one having with mom and dad.”
“Babies. Both of you. You’re supposed to be Alphas.” All I can do is shake my head. I don’t know why those two can’t have certain conversations with our parents.
“Let’s go.” I say and start walking toward to the packhouse. I’m sure the current Alpha and Luna are awake by now.
We get to the packhouse and for the first time in a long while there doesn’t appear to be any, she-wolves lingering around. I can smell breakfast. That’s when it hits me, I’m starving.
“Guys, I’m hungry. Let’s eat, get cleaned up and meet in the Alpha office, in 45 minutes.”
Both Andrew and Evander nod their heads in agreement. The three of us head to the breakfast nook, grab a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. We eat in silence.
After breakfast we all go to our separate rooms, shower, brush our teeth and get dressed. I open my door to find both Andrew and Evander standing on the other side.
“I was just about to knock. You ready?” asks Evander
“Yep. I thought I said meet in the Alpha office. Let’s get this done. You ready?”
“The question is: Are you ready?”
“Right, that is the question since you two are hanging me out to dry on this.”
The three of us approach the Alpha office’s large solid wood door. I knock and wait for permission to enter.
“Yes, come in.”
My brothers and I enter the office. It is a big open space with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the packlands. The office has a couch, a small table with four chairs, and a larger conference table that seats 10. There is a desk along the west wall, that is where our father is.
“Can we sit?” I ask my father.
“Sure.” My father walks over to the smaller table, that seats four.
“I think for this conversation we should sit at the conference table. Mom Beta Jacob should be here as well.” I state
“So be it, if that’s your request.” Alpha Kordell picks up his phone and summons Beta Jacob. Andrew goes to find our mom, Luna Jazmine.
Beta Jacob, Andrew, and our mom come into the Alpha office a few short minutes later. Once everyone is seated. I stand up.
“Ok, here it goes. The three of us have found, or I should say picked. No, that doesn’t seem right either. I don’t know what we did, but we have a mate. We think. We haven’t told her yet, but we figured it out. We think.”
I look over at my brothers pleading for help to explain what I’m trying to say as I’m floundering with this announcement. Andrew just gives me the double thumbs-up sign and Evander has this fake smile like he’s about to take a school picture.
Finally, my mom inadvertently saves me, “Oh boys, this is so nice to hear. Who is she? Do we know her? Have we met her?”
“Yes, you’ve met her, you know her. We still need to speak with her to make sure this is what she wants.”
“Of course. I understand honey. You can tell us who she is though, right?”
“It’s Alsie.”
“NO! Anybody else! Not Alsie! Never Alsie!” Beta Jacobs yells as he stands up quickly and knocks his chair over.
