Episode1
“How am I going to pay all these off?" Margaret said to herself with a sigh.
She was sitting alone at the dining table, hunched over a stack of papers. They were all outstanding bills. The single candle illuminating the room flickered. The power was out because she could no longer afford the electric bill. As she was still fussing over the papers, the door creaked open and Nayara walked in. She walked over to Nayara and noticed her distressed state.
“ Hello, mum. What's going on?" Nayara asked, putting an arm on Margaret's shoulder.
“ Oh these? They're just the bills. You don't have to worry about it," Said Margaret, faking a smile. She didn't want to transfer any form of burden to Nayara. “ Now go get some rest. Let me handle this," she said and held the hand Nayara placed on her shoulder.
“Okay then," Said Nayara. She leaned in and kissed Margaret on the cheek. “Goodnight.”
“ Sweet dreams," Said Margaret and gave Nayara a gentle push away from the dining table. As. Nayara laid in bed, she thought about how her mum looked at those bills and it broke her heart. She wanted to cry, but she knew she'd just worry Margaret more, so she took a sharp breath, prayed for her and slept off.
