Chapter 1 — The Alarm
Park Hana looked at the wedding card again.
She had already read it many times, but she still smiled.
Lee Do-hyun & Park Hana
Wedding in 3 weeks
“Only three weeks…” she said softly.
Sunlight came through the window. Outside, the city was normal. Cars moved, people walked, and nothing felt strange.
Today looked like a good day.
Her phone vibrated.
Reminder: Buy groceries
“Oh right,” she sighed. “He will come home late again.”
Do-hyun was a police officer. He was always busy. But he never forgot to call her every morning to check if she ate.
She took the elevator down to the basement grocery store inside the apartment.
The store was peaceful.
A child cried for snacks.
An old couple argued about noodles.
The cashier looked sleepy.
Hana pushed a cart slowly and checked her phone list.
Milk… eggs… vegetables…
Then suddenly—
Her phone made a loud siren sound.
Everyone stopped.
[EMERGENCY ALERT]
EXTREME DANGER
STAY AWAY FROM VIOLENT PEOPLE
MOVE TO HIGHER FLOORS
“…What?” Hana whispered.
Someone laughed nervously.
“Maybe just a drill.”
At that moment, a woman near the fruit section fell to the floor.
Her body shook strangely.
A man tried to help her.
She suddenly grabbed him —
and bit his neck.
Blood spilled everywhere.
For one second nobody moved.
Then the store exploded into screams.
People ran. Things fell. Glass broke.
Hana’s hands shook badly.
Her phone buzzed.
Do-hyun: Hana! Are you home?
Do-hyun: Lock the doors. Do NOT open for anyone.
She typed fast.
Hana: I’m in the basement store… people attacking each other… I’m scared…
Someone hit the glass door hard behind her.
A red handprint slid down slowly.
Her heart pounded.
Do-hyun : Listen carefully.
Run to the stairs.
Go to the rooftop.
Her breathing became uneven.
Do-hyun : I’m coming to you. Don’t look back. Just run.
A growl came from behind.
Hana dropped the shopping basket and ran.
She pushed open the emergency stair door and rushed inside.
The heavy door closed behind her.
The screams became quieter.
Only her footsteps echoed as she climbed higher and higher.
She held her phone and her ring tightly.
She was running toward the rooftop.
She didn’t know—
Do-hyun was running toward the danger to reach her.
