The door slowly opened.
A figure stood there.
Blood covered its mouth. Its empty eyes stared inside the hallway.
Nobody moved.
The little girl hid behind her mother.
The middle-aged man lifted the fire extinguisher but his hands shook.
The creature stepped forward—then suddenly
"THUK"
An arrow pierced its head.
It fell to the floor.
Everyone gasped.
A young man stepped out from the stairwell holding a bow. His face was calm, but his right hand trembled slightly.
“My name is Kang Min-jae,” he said quietly.
He quickly shut the door.
Growls echoed from the stairs.
More than one.
Hana stared at the body. Its gray skin looked cold and dead. Her voice shook as she asked if it was a zombie.
Min-jae hesitated, then nodded once.
Fear spread across her face.
At that moment the helicopter roared above the building. People looked hopeful and rushed to the rooftop door, but it would not open.
Min-jae tried it once. His expression hardened.
“The sound is bringing them,” he warned.
Heavy footsteps rushed upward.
He told everyone to move down immediately.
They ran to the lift.
Behind them the door burst open and the infected flooded the stairs.
Min-jae shot arrows while the student swung his bat. Step by step they fought and retreated until they reached the 21st floor hallway.
They slammed the door shut and hurried inside a large meeting room.
Long tables, rolling chairs, and a projector screen filled the wide space.
For a moment — silence.
Everyone breathed hard, thinking they were safe.
