Chapter 4

After entering the building I forgot that I didn’t check my mail yesterday. I hurried to the wall of mail boxes. The resident assistant looked up at me and smiled. She had short red curly hair and bottle pop framed glasses. “Tiffany, nice to see you today” I greeted her. “You as well” she said. She flipped though her magazine. “Whatcha reading” she held up the latest copy of Cosmopolitan. I giggled. “My favorite as well” I didn’t feel bad for lying but she didn’t need to know that I didn’t like that. I got my mail and headed back to my room. When I got to the door, I stopped to dig thought my purse for my keys. Once I found them and put them in the lock I notice the door was unlocked. Which didn’t bother me to much because I had no idea what exactly Willow’s schedule was for today. I threw everything in my arms on the bed after kicking the door closed. I laid out the outfit on my bed that I adjust brought and admired it for a minute. Then I walked over and opened my closet. I grabbed my shower caddy and checked it thoroughly. I had to make sure I had everything I needed for my shower so that way I didn’t have to run back-and-forth. Then I pulled my robe off the hook and found a towel in my closet. I was ready to rock ‘n’ roll. Justin my phone buzzed. To be honest with you I was slightly terrified to answer it because I didn’t know who is going to be. And I sure as hell didn’t want it to be my father but I knew the possibility of it being him was very high seeing as how he just called me. I picked it up and glanced at it unfortunately my assumption was right Hey baby girl, thank you for sending me the money it’s really helping me out for sure. His text message made my stomach do a somersault. Unfortunately I still loved my father even though he was drunk. I know that some people out there don’t even have fathers. So I should be grateful for mine even though he chose a bottle over his own daughter. And some part of me blames my mother for that. If she would’ve never cheated with the neighbor my life wouldn’t have turned out the way that it is now. So I guess all of my hatred for the cards I’ve been dealt should be at her right. I decided that I would answer him now instead of waiting and making the situation worse. No problem Jim! I knew that I didn’t have time to wait on his response. I knew that it upset him when I called him Jim. But at the same time I didn’t feel completely comfortable calling him dad because he wasn’t exactly a dad to me. I directed my attention back to the task at hand a shower. I picked up my towel and my robe and grabbed my shower caddy in the same hand. I walked out into the hallway and pulled the door closed behind me. For Sunday I thought that this place was Irregularly empty. I felt like the only person I had seen since I’ve gotten back was Tiffany. Which if this was a day that classes were in session wouldn’t be so unusual. To be honest with you it kind of sent chills down my spine that no one seem to be around. But I push those thoughts aside and hurried well semi-hurried down to the bathroom hoping that the better shower would be available when I got there. When I pushed open the bathroom door I could hear the water running faintly from the back of the bathroom. That that means I was stuck with a front shower. Which everyone knew that this didn’t quite run right. I pulled back the first curtain to make sure that no one was in there. I stepped in and pull the curtain closed behind me. I flipped on the water and made sure that it was running warm before I started to undress. I hung my clothes neatly on the hook that was on the wall furthest from the shower. The bathroom door swung open and it hit the wall hard. I just decided to ignore it and carry on about my business. I stepped in to the running water and it flowed over me like little warm rivers making a popping sound does it hit the shower floor. I let the water run through my hair for a minute before I went for my shampoo bottle. That is when I noticed a loud thumping coming from the back shower. I had seen a few horror movies in my day and I knew that allowed thumping in the shower was never a good sign. But I push those feelings deep down and continued on with my shower. I began to wash my hair and ignored the thumping. The thumping stopped momentarily. I made sure the water run clear of soap before going for the conditioner. About that time the thumping head started again and it was louder than it was before. In that moment I decided what any classic horror movie victim would do. I stuck my head out of both curtains and hollered to see if the person was OK that was down there. The thumping stopped immediately. That made me panic, I decided in that moment that I need to shorten this shower. I hurried to rinse the conditioner out of my hair. And then began to frantically wash my body. I had to admit that I was slightly terrified that someone was causing or making the thumping happen that was going on right now.. I was hoping that it was just some in mature people having wild s*x in the bathroom. And not some thing a little more sinister. s**t when you’re a horror movie fanatic your mind tends to run wild if you let it. The thumping got louder and louder. I tried to ignore the best I could and hurry.. Then out of nowhere everything went black. I didn’t mean to but I let out a high piercing shriek. I knew with that noise I was a goner for sure. I mean if that was truly someone attacking someone else back there. I noticed that the thumping was getting closer to me. I needed a plan and I needed it fast. The only thing I could think of was making a break for it. Was it even possible for me to out run whatever was back there. I didn’t know the answer to that but I owed it to myself to at least try. I Quietly stepped out into the closed off area of the first curtain. I slid On my robe. I gathered all of my things in my arm. I knew that I was going to have to run and run fast. I mean that’s what people do when they’re terrified right. I quietly pulled back the first curtain, I switched off the water and took off running. My first step outside of the shower I turn to see a person at the back of the bathroom wearing all black standing there. They started running at me and a full sprint. The river of red flowing under their feet I immediately panicked. I knew that this person was going to attack me too and I wasn’t about to become its next victim. I reached for the bathroom door feeling the person in black fingers grace my back. I was terrified that I was in the situation right now. I guess I was truly living in a nightmare or a horror movie come to life..I kept it into full throttle running down the hallway glancing over my shoulder to make sure that the person was still far enough back. I noticed that they were wearing a orange mask with some kind of paint splatter across it. The dorms that I lived in was an old antique building. That had stained-glass archways in every entrance to the hallways throughout the building.I knew that my room was on the other side of that stained glass, I just had to make it there. On the other side of the stained glass arch, I looked over my shoulder one last time but the person was gone. When I turned back around I ran smack dab into my hall coordinator. “What the hell is going on here” she snapped I bent over trying to catch my breath. She crossed her arms and began to tap her petite little foot at me. “I was running from someone in all black. They were chasing me like the bogeyman or something” she started to laugh. But my face remained stone, I was totally being serious in this instant, and the simple fact that she wasn’t taking me serious was really getting under my skin. “ really you expect me to believe that someone was chasing you” she said making a scoffing noise and rolling her eyes. “ I’m serious” I barked at her “I’m pretty sure that someone is bleeding or is severely hurt down there. And the person that was chasing me did it!” The look of irritation on her face quickly faded into one of concern. She began to walk towards the bathroom and I grabbed her arm to stop her. “Down here” she pointed toward the bathroom. Still trying to walk down there with my hand pulling on her. “Wait! We should call 911 or something” I said. “You can! But my job is to keep my resident safe and if someone has hurt I need to check on them” she said pulling free from my grip and kept walking. It felt like an eternity as she walked down the hallway like everything around us was in slow motion. “Please be careful” I whispered. I myself behind my clothes knowing that they weren’t exactly going to keep me safe. She slowly stopped at the door and began to push it open. She walked into the bathroom and my body was being eaten alive by concern. She was gone for no more then 15 seconds, when she popped back out. She glared at me with a pissed off look. She waved me down to her. With hesitation I took a few steps towards her. That is when I noticed the storage closet behind her was opening slowly. The person in black that I had been running from stepped out in the hallway. I took to steps back. “Look out behind you!” I yelled to her. She slowly started to turn around to see what was behind her. I was terrified right now and I didn’t know how to react in this moment. Out of one of the pants pockets I seen the person pull out a shiny knife. As the hall coordinator was starting to turn to run away, The person stabbed her in the stomach. I let out a scream and dropped my stuff in the hallway and started running in the other direction. I wasn’t about to stand here and let that person attack me as well. I could hear them running after me but it didn’t stop me. When I ran pass the front deck, I noticed that Tiffany was gone. Did this mystery person attack her. Dear god I hope not. I ran through the front door and down the steps. I ran down the sidewalk to the nearest emergency button. That was when I realized I was in my robe but I wasn’t about to head back into the building and change. Oh my god my phone was on my bed s**t. Against my better judgment I went back into the building. I slowly walked into the building keeping my eye open and looking everywhere. I finally reached my door. I hurried in to get my phone. I stunk back into the hallway quietly, hoping the crazy person was still in the building. I started to make my way towards the front door. A few steps behind me I heard a strange. I turned to look and there they were standing behind me. They swung the knife at me. The tip of the knife cut my arm. I screamed loudly. I wasn’t going to let them hurt me any further. I ran in a full sprint towards the door. I ran to the same emergency button and slammed it a few more times. That’s when I noticed that I was completely unaware of my surroundings. I looked around for the person in black. They were nowhere. How could this be. Gone in a instant. I began to worry for Coordinator. Terrified I stood there holding my bleeding arm praying that someone was going to be there to save us soon and whoever that person that attacked us was long gone.
