The sunlight beaded through the bedroom window. I said straight up realizing that I was inside of my bedroom when the last place I remember being was inside of Adam’s car. And then I realized quickly that my head was poundinG uncontrollably. I wiped, away the morning grogginess and looked around slowly. Just then I seen Willow slide through the bedroom door with a Towel in her hair and another one wrapped around her. “Oh s**t!” She jumped almost a mile high as she noticed me sitting up. “I was trying to be quiet did I wake you“ I shook my head no to her question. “Sorry what time is it” I questioned her. Looking around for my phone, I noticed a bottle of Gatorade with some Tylenol on my desk. I glanced at the time on my phone 1015. “Never-mind” i’m muttered. “ don’t worry your guy friend was very sweet. He brought you in and touch you in and asked if I had Gatorade and Tylenol for you. There was no funny business on his end. Except for maybe a forehead kiss“ I smiled to myself as I thought of the sweet gesture of his lips pressed in my forehead. “ Plus he was gorgeous, good for you girl“ she laughed to herself. I read his good morning text message and giggled to myself. Willow plopped down on her bed next to me and let her curly red hair out of the towel. I swung my feet over the side and tried to stand up she was quick to catch me as I started to fall forward. “ are you sure you don’t need me to stay with you today“ she asked as she looked deeply into my eyes. “Yes I will be fine” I told her. “ nothing a shower and some food couldn’t fix“ she laughed at my joke. “ Plus you and Downey are are on the same shift today and that would be very exciting for you“ I gave her the googly eyes and she chuckled at me again. She tapped me between the eyes and I fell back onto my bed. She walked over and slid her pants on under her towel. With her back to me she left a towel fall and she put on her bra and shirt. “ yeah I’m pretty excited about seeing him today“ her face turned red with the mention of him. Her and Downey had never made things official but there was a lot of flirty flirty going on . “ so please kiss and tail is Mr. gorgeous a good kisser” I laughed. “To be honest I really don’t remember. And his name is Adam Jacobs he’s a TKE“ her mouth fell open in surprise. “ like Adam Jacobs the Captain of the lacrosse team Adam Jacobs?” I nodded yes to her question. “ girl do you know how many people want to be in your position right now. Like hundreds.” She laughed. I tried to stand up again but caught myself quickly. I think I needed to brace myself fully before I got up again. She spun around and stared at me for a moment and then brushed her hair in the mirror again. “Wait, you mean to tell me that there was no hanky-panky at all” she stood there staring at me with her arms folded still holding her brush in her hand. She was tapping her foot in my direction. I blushed at her question and a sweet smile broke out across her face. “I don’t really remember to be honest with you.” She laughed as she finished putting her hair up in a high messy bun. “You sure your going to be okay today or do I need to call in” she said leaning against her dresser. “I will be okay. Plus you are really excited to see Downey” they had never made anything official but they made it a point to see each other every time they possibly could. She finished, waved and was out the door. I slowly moseyed my way up and around my room when I heard my phone buzzing like a mad man.. “Hello Colin” I said answering the phone. “Did you go to a party and not take me man!” His voice ripped though my ears like a torpedo. “ SHHH” I tried to hush the remaindeR of his voice that was still ringing. “You did!” He snapped. I could tell in his voice that he was hurt by my decision. “I’m so sorry Colin. It’s not like I planned on going to the party it was just kind sprang on me” he snickered. I could now tell that he wasn’t that really upset about it. “Did you at least have a drink or two for me” he questioned. “I mean yes I had a pretty good time. s**t what did he call it. Oh, the white widow bash” I told him looking out the window of my room. “Oh my f*****g god you went to WWB. Only the hottest people get invited. The person that took you must be a hottie” he was so excited about this. I know that I should be more hesitant with the information I was about to share with him but I had to have confidence that he wouldn’t tell everyone about it. “Just Adam Jacobs.” We sat in silence for a few seconds so he could pick his chin up on the floor. But then he started to laugh as if what I was telling him wasn’t true. I sat there a while longer in silence figuring that he would realize that I was telling the complete truth. After what seemed like eternity I felt like the situation hit him like a bag of bricks. “Holy s**t like Adam Jacobs lacrosse captain. He is a fine piece of candy. Look at you girl” there was pride in his voice. I would be lost without Colin. The moment I met him in my first class, he has been a lifesaver. He is the kind of best friend that makes you laugh when you are sad. Fights with you when he knows what your doing is wrong. He puts me in my place when I’m being to sassy. Most importantly he loves me for me. “Do you want to go to Marcos and get some brunch? And talk about your wild night“ he chuckled. “ Yeah we can” and before I could say anything he had hung up the phone. I hurried and slid on a pair of black leggings and a big old comfy sweatshirt I’ve gotten from my father. My father wasn’t good at a lot of things, well I guess I could say he was good at drinking. Hell he was an expert at that by this point. When he was sober he like to shower me with gifts and this comfy old sweatshirt belong to him and he gave it to me as a gift. To be honest it was the only thing worth holding onto that he had ever given me. I decided to text Adam with a sweet little thank you. Just then there a loud pounding on my door. I hurried over as fast as my little hung over legs could carry me just to make the noise stop. “Oh s**t girl, you look like death” Colin said with a gasp placing his hand over his chest.. I laughed halfheartedly while grabbing my purse and motioning to him with my hand so I could get out my door. I pulled and locked my door. I began to walk done the hallway while Colin still stood frozen in the hallway worried about how I was looking. I knew that he didn’t want to be seen with someone that looked like they had been hit by a train. “You coming princess” I hollered behind me. “You really do look like death. What on earth did you do last night?” I snickered at his question. “Not enough to feel the way I do that’s for f*****g sure” I cracked a half smile. My phone buzzed a few times. My stomach instantly did a roll over trick knowing that it was Adam. Good morning hun, I hope you slept well and I hope your not feeling to bad today.I want to see you later if your up to it. I promise no partying this time. “Umm you better say yes” Colin teased. “But first you better shower” he joked. I didn’t respond To either of them. Just shoved My phone back in my pocket, and would just answer him later. We decided to take Colin’s car instead of mine. The car ride to the restaurant was quiet. I decided to quickly answer Adam. I told him that I would love to see him but it would have to be later like 4 clock because I was grabbing brunch with a friend. We quickly got out of the car when we got to the restaurant. Instead our favorite hostess let us seat ourselves. We took the table near the back so our conversation wouldn’t be hear by to many people. “So tell me about this party” he said finally we sat down at the table. “Well unfortunately for you. I don’t remember much” I said with a smile. “Why do I not believe that” he said crossing his arms. “Well I know there was dancing and drinking of tequila“ he started laughing. “If tequila was involved then we really know that you don’t remember anything“ I gave a sarcastic laugh and snarl in his direction after his statement . He made a pshh sound and then waved his hand at me. “I do remember one thing though I am pretty sure we didn’t kiss” his mouth fell open at my confession. I knew exactly what he was going to say. He was going to call me nuts for not kissing only the hottest guy on campus “Are you nuts why the hell didn’t you seal that s**t with a kiss man” he said in a very serious tone. I shrugged and then smiled. To be quite honest I wasn’t sure why he or I didn’t kiss each other last night. It’s not like I didn’t want him to. “Well bud when I figure out the answer to that I will totally let you know I promise.“ I joked with him. The waitress came and took our drink order. And then she was gone again like a ship in the night. We sat there for a moment staring at each other and awkwardness. I knew that someone had to say something at some point right! “So mister I have 1000 questions! What did you do last night?” His cheeks blushed with my question. Ahh, now I’m getting somewhere. Colin was hiding something from me and I was gonna get to the bottom of it. “Alright sir out with it“ I waved my hand at him. Anyway to tell him to give me all of the juicy details. He looked everywhere but at me. Finally he made eye contact and just started to giggle. “Umm nothing i did absolutely nothing“ he said. But I found that statement to be very unbelievable. I crossed my arms and stared at him with a series face. “ so let me guess was it Chad or David. Oh oh oh or was it that really hot Spanish guy that works at the outlet mall god what’s his name“ I said showing excitement about the situation Well as much as I could with my pounding headache. “Nicholas” he said with a smile and very rosy cheeks. Ah so he spent his evening with Nicholas the Spanish hunk. “Look you! So you finally sealed the deal with him huh? Good because that crash was getting a little embarrassing“ I said taking a bite of the chips and salsa on the table. He playfully kicked me under the table and started to laugh. “Alright ma’am. Miss I have been dating a lacrosse captain for a few weeks and didn’t tell my best friend!” He said crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow at me. Busted how did he know. Who told him. f**k, Paige! “Guilty!! My only question is how come you didn’t say anything earlier?“ I was really curious as to why he hadn’t said anything before. Colin is not normally one to keep something like this to himself so I didn’t understand. “ I just felt like you would tell me whenever you are ready. I figured that’s probably not a conversation you should rush when you’re dating only the hottest guy on campus!“ he smiled taking a bite of a chip. I nodded in agreement. He was totally right even though I felt bad from keeping a secret from him. This was totally something I needed to tell him in my own time. And I was grateful that I had such a friend that would wait for me to come to him with such information. “Thank you for being such a sweet friend to me sir“ holding up my drink for him to clean glasses with me. “Oh you’re very welcome doll“ he cleaned his glass against mine and then took a drink. If Colin wasn’t into men she would be my perfect type. I couldn’t have picked a better soulmate for myself than him. The waitress had reappeared after being what gone what seemed like 10 minutes after she delivered our drinks. We ordered our favorite food from the menu and sat there like two giggling school girls talking about his night with Nicholas. Which I must admit that he was very very excited about. Our food came out shortly after we ordered it. And the waitress disappeared yet again. I think this girl may be new because we never get service like this when we come to Marco‘s. We enjoyed our delicious food so much that neither one of us talked until our plates were clean. Without getting the check Colin put money on the table and held at his hand for me to stand up. I giggled as he pulled me out of the booth and spun me around giving me a dip and kissing me on the cheek. “Now that’s how you finish a date babe” he chuckled standing me back up right. “Oh we should go shopping for an outfit for your next date with Adam” he said doing a little Gary hop up and down thing. The pure gay excitement was overflowing out of him. Which was very contagious. I giggled and just nodded. Little did he know that our next date was going to be a little later this afternoon. “Yes we could go to the outlet mall and maybe see Nicholas“ I teased. He blushed and hid his face. We drove to the outlet mall which was only a few minutes away. There was tons of little shops for me to find the perfect outfit for a date. We walked up and down that outlet mall talking away. We finally reached the middle where the little ice cream cart that Nicholas worked at. Nicolas came interview, and I felt Colin duck behind me. I was really curious at why he was talking behind a person that was way shorter than he was. There was no possible way I was going to hide him convincingly but oh well. I guess a boys got to do what a boys got to do. Nicholas looked up and seen me. He smiled then she noticed Colin ducking behind me. He chuckled and then his cheeks began to blush. He waved me over so I did what any other good friend would do and walked right over to him leading Colin there behind me. “COLIN!” He called. Colin picked up from behind me and smiled when he noticed Nicholas standing in front of us. He stepped out from behind me and stood there in front of the ice cream cart. As if he didn’t know how to talk to him. This crash was hilarious. A little backstory on Nicholas and him. They have a trigonometry class together so he just doesn’t know him from us eating a lot of ice cream at the outlet mall. Not that we do but I’m just saying. Nicholas was a taller semi muscular belt Spanish guy with wavy black hair and sparkling green eyes. He was totally Colin’s type. “ well I would like a single scoop of mint chocolate chip please“ he chuckled and started to scoop my ice cream. He set it up on the top of the glass and made eye contact with Colin. “For you?” Colin smiled acting bashful towards Nicholas.. He told him he wanted a scoop of peanut butter cup. Finally after a few minutes Nicholas decided that he was going to make more than an ice cream conversation. I could tell that they probably wanted to have a little more privacy. So I started to slowly walk down the path at the outlet mall I would swing back around and pick up Colin on my way to the car. After what felt like looking for forever I finally found a cute little outfit. I found a sage green bodysuit with a pair of black jeans with slits in the knees that I could pair with a pair of brown boots that I had at home And I also had a cream colored Leather jacket at home as well. As I was coming out of the store I ran Smack-dab into Collin. I guess his little make out session with Nicholas was over. Him and I walked hand-in-hand to the car. I could not have asked for a better friend to back me up even when he needed a little Make-out session with his boyfriend. In the car neither one of us talked about what happened back there. He did say that he needed to make a quick stop before we went back to the dorms. After what seemed like 10 minutes of driving he pulled into a shopping malls parking lot. He told me he would be right back and hopped out. I sat there staring around looking at all of the shops and even did a little bit of people watching. When my phone started to buzz. I hoped that it would be Adam but for some odd reason the big knot in my stomach told me that it wasn’t. The number flashed as an unknown caller and with hesitation I answered it. “Hello?” A little bit of static and crackle on the other end came over “ Hello!” A familiar male voice rang in my ears. And then the anger sitting in on my face. “Why are you calling me Jim” I asked him. “What!? No hello Dad. How are you nothing!” He said. “ no because nine times out of 10 you’re not calling me to catch up. So what the hell do you want.“ I could feel my voice raising in anger. I pushed it back down to a normal tone. I was not going to let this drunken full enrage me. “Well pumpkin I need money” I laughed in a sarcastic tone in his ear. He coughed and I could tell that he didn’t like that my response to his question. “Sorry Jim I can’t help you there” I said. “Not even a little” he said. “Fine! I will send what I can tomorrow” I noticed Colin coming back to the car. “Good bye Jim” and then hung up. Colin could tell there was something was wrong. “Okay what happened” he asked. “Jim called” his mouth fell open. My jaw twitch and I popped my fingers in anger. Why was I always the one that he picked to call when he needed money. Why didn’t he call one of his alcoholic buddies. Or even the bartender for god sake. “Let me guess money” he said. I nodded. “ well my only advice is don’t send any!! But you’re gonna do what you need to do right sister” he said patting me on the head. Colin had a point that I shouldn’t send him money. Because I ultimately knew that my money was just going to go in the next bottle of whiskey he can get his hands on. At the same time though he was my father and all I wanted was his approval in some weird way. I guess I kind of felt the same way about my mother if she ever came back into my life I would do whatever she needed me to because I would be seeking her approval. And I know what you’re going to say that that’s kind of f****d up and I completely agree but that’s how I am! He didn’t say anything else about my dad on the way back to the dorms which I was totally relieved. I didn’t want to talk about that drunken fool. He kissed me on the cheek before I got out of the car. When I close the door I happen to look down at my watch it read 230. f**k, Adam was going to be here in a little less than an hour and a half I need to hurry man. I took off up the steps and into the building. Time to get glamed!
