Consciousness returned slowly, in total opposite of the darkness that had swallowed him so quickly and unexpectedly. At first his vision swam, and only dark outlines of features was visible. Struggling to sit up and focus, feeling vulnerable to the darkness and unknown. A soft voice finally came through the confused thoughts.
"Are you all right?"
And then, everything suddenly felt alright.
When his vision finally focused on the dark figure, he couldn’t help but lift his hand to stroke his knuckles softly from her hairline to her jawbone. Whisper soft the words came. “I’ve missed you...”
For what felt like eternity, she didn’t respond. When she finally did, it was with a slow, crocked smile. “Come, we had best start moving home. My father and mother will be worried for me.”
