Fire Is The Deadliest

I sat there for what seemed like hours. It was nightfall already. I was colder than ever. Selene grabbed a towel and handed it to me. "Let's get some rest," she said. I felt disappointed. We headed over to the tent and she laid out some new clothes for me to wear. I got changed and she handed me some hot soup and some hot green tea. "Aren't you going to eat?" I asked her. "No, I'm not hungry," she said. "How we have been here all day," I said. "Our stomachs are very big, we can last five days without eating," she explained. "Only eating every five days, damn," I said. She smiled and offered me something sweet. I was so different than her. "How is it so warm?" I asked. She again smiled and then I figured she had to be manipulating the air to be warm. "Doesn't that cause some kind of weather issues," I said. "I am only warming the air around us so no," she responded. I was getting sleepy and I saw in her eyes she was tired too. I was glad that she was still like me in that sense. "Are we going to sleep here, together," I asked. "If you don't mind," she replied. She laid down in the tent and slipped into the covers. I followed after and didn't know if I should face her or the look up at the tent. I felt calmer as her hand brushed mine. I wanted to embrace her but I knew that might be too much. Just being this close to her is nice. I fell asleep easy enough. I had another dream about my old life. I was in the middle of a battlefield. So many bodies were on the ground dead. Others were fighting to the death beside me. I wanted to help but I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. More people were flying past me landing on the ground at my feet. I woke up in a panic and then looked to see Selene peacefully fast asleep. I didn't want to wake her so I stepped out of the tent. I thought about that woman in the tent and how much I wanted to help her. I still didn't know what I was going to do but I knew I wasn't ready to fight a war. Suddenly it started to rain. It was raining softly coming down at first but the more I was panicking the more it poured down. Selene came out of the tent shortly after it was pouring down heavily. She stopped it mid-air before it landed on the ground. "Axel, it's okay," she said softly. She grabbed my face and kissed my cheek. That seemed to ease my worries and the rain stopped. "Air is easy to control when you are calm and one with your surroundings, Water is uncontrollable and worse when you can't control your emotions but it will flow as you do so you need to stay balanced. It will be cold if you are and hard if you stay strong. The spirits may seem chaotic but they are a part of you," Selene explained. Her hand was still on my cheek and I felt warm. I don't understand these powers but I feel them inside me. I closed my eyes and held out my hand. I felt the water swirl and the more I thought about protecting Selene and staying by her side I felt the water turn to ice. When I opened my eyes the water had turned into a shard of ice. I dropped it when it got too cold to hold. "You lost your focus," Selene said. I bowed my head down in disappointment. "I only have one more set of clothes for you so don't get these wet." We headed back to sleep and I was able to sleep peacefully.  The next day, we woke up and had some breakfast. Selene really did think of everything. I have to hand it to her she was very efficient. After breakfast, she told me to continue training with my air and water spirit. "What about my fire spirit," I said. "You're not ready," she answered. "What? why?" I asked. "It is too dangerous to train if you can not handle it yet," she said. "The fire spirit is the most powerful and unpredictable spirit. It is ruled by anger and chaos. If you do not know how to control and stay calm while using this spirit. You will hurt yourself and those around you." I wasn't sure what she meant but I guess I should listen to her. I didn't even know how to be that angry to cause fire to spit out of my hands. We trained all morning and I was really getting used to my powers. Selene said that I was handling them well but need to learn to fight with them next. "I will be leaving at the end of the month," she said. "We will train every day until then." That was just two weeks from now. I asked her if I would see her again. She said that with the war she wouldn't be coming back any time soon but would definitely try. I knew it pained her too to leave me behind and quite possibly never see me again. As soon as we were done training we drove back to town. To my surprise, Sam was hanging around my house. She was sitting on my porch steps. As soon as she saw my car she ran to the street. "Where have you been," she snapped. She then noticed Selene and looked at me like she wanted to kill me. "I'm sorry, I went camping," I said. "With her," Sam snarled. "Um, yeah, it was her idea," I said. "This is Selene by the way." "Right, whatever, I'm Samantha," she said to Selene. "Do you want to come in," I asked Sam. She just nodded slightly and ran into my house. Selene looked a little confused. "She's my friend," I told her. "I understand," Selene said softly and then just walked away. "Where are you going?" I asked her. Selene didn't answer me but then she disappeared. I was left in shock but then I heard Sam call for me so I walked into my house. "Camping?" Sam questioned. "Yeah," I replied. "Sure, it wasn't just some hookup trip," she said. The thought of hooking up with Selene made me blush. I pushed that thought out of my mind. "Hunter and I are going to a party tonight," Sam said. "A party, you?" I questioned. "Have fun." "Come with us, dummy," she said. I thought about it but I was kind of tired and not in the mood to drink or party. Sam kept whining and begging so I caved and said I would go. She left and said to pick her up at 8 pm. I decided to nap until then. I had a weird dream about a phoenix. It flew all around me and it was so long and beautiful. I woke up at the sound of my phone. Hunter was calling me. He told me to not forget to pick him up after I pick up my girlfriend. I actually didn't know if he meant Sam or Selene but he was always joking about stuff like that. I decided to take a shower and get dressed since it was almost 8. I headed over to Sam's house after I got dressed. Her parents were fighting again. She hated that her parents didn't get along and didn't just get a divorce. I texted her telling her I was outside. She came out of her house looking really nice. She wore an off the shoulder short red dress. She got in the car and said I looked good too. I tried not to look at her for too long because it was weird. We picked up Hunter and headed to the party. We went to go get drinks and sat and talked to some mutual friends. We were having an okay time. Hunter and Sam disappeared after a while and I was left alone. I decided to get some fresh air so I walked outside by the pool. Three guys followed me and I didn't acknowledge them. I didn't know them or even thought they went to the same school. It was a small town so even people I didn't hang with I sort of still knew. One of the guys grabbed my shoulder and I turned around ready to hit him but I was shocked to see his very dark black eyes. There was no white in them at all. Sam came running out yelling for me and another guy pushed her into the pool. I got upset and I punched the first guy in the face. He was barely affected by this. He then swirled water around his hands then pushed it to me. it curled around my neck choking me. Suddenly, Selene appeared she was again wearing unique clothing. She had on short green shorts and a crop top with a black shiny jacket. She had a few weapons on her hip. She began to fight the three guys. She hit them with a spear-like stick. One of them was getting ready to throw a fireball at her but she froze him and kicked his ice form shattering him to little pieces. The other two guys grabbed her and knocked her down. I felt everything happen so fast I couldn't react. One was about to throw a fireball at her but I got so angry and lost control. I felt flames cover my hands and reach my shoulders. I lunged the flames at the two men and they burnt to death and quickly turned to ash. I couldn't put out the flames and was growing worried at what I just did. Sam jumped out of the pool and looked at me in shock. I then noticed Selene not moving on the ground in front of me. I ran towards her and she was knocked out cold. I was able to make the flames disappear because I just wanted to hold Selene in my arms. Hunter then came outside. "What the f**k just happened."
