Jewel's POV
I looked out the window of the range rover we were in. I could see this pack was doing a very formal greeting. It made me a little giddy with the idea of its crowd of people.
Mortou opened the door, always our protector. He was like a super awesome Uncle to me or an overly protective big older brother. I didn't have to plaster a fake smile, this one was real. My brother stopped me then. Placing a tense hand on my arm making me look back at him. What? I asked throughout the private mind link we shared.
Great danger here. Nothing is as it seems. I watched my brother's wolf flash in his eyes.
What do you see? I paused getting out to give my brother my full attention. I waved Mortou to wait a moment.
Dead walk here among more than one plane of existence. My brother Hawk had always seen more than we ever could with his Autism. Add a wolf and you get a second sight, unlike anything that has been spoken of.
Do you want me to tell them? I asked.
Mortou and Athens will believe us. Mom and Dad will once we get them alone. Make sure no one goes anywhere without someone else. His eyes flashed bright amber.
I nodded to him, switching links (I have many seeing as how I am the Queen of the Southern packs, the recent blood bond, and the link that formed with my brother as I was learning to talk.) Mortou we have a problem. I started his link.
A growl filled the link. What? Mortou poked his head in the Range rover.
Hawk sees what's behind these places. many dead, and multiple planes of existence converging here. I looked up at his face. His brow furrowed together as he nodded. He says no one should be alone here.
Understood. He snapped back and stood to his full height of seven-foot holy moly huge. A deep rumbling growl emerged from him making everyone pause. Then he blasted the mind link of everyone in our group. NO ONE WILL GO ANYWHERE ALONE OR SLEEP ALONE. EVERYONE IS TO REMAIN ON HIGH ALERT. You could feel the importance of the words he roared in our heads making every single one of us wince from the power of it.
"Princess," Mortou then bowed low as he extended his hand to me. I took it to step to the ground. I sniffed the air. My brother Hawk coming to stand beside me. His hand in mine, holding tightly. I knew I kept him grounded to the things he saw that we didn't want to create problems in any new place caused him adjustments that he was learning to deal with. I wanted to make him my beta, for the Southern Packs as he could see things differently and violence was easy given his different look at things. I could trust him everyone else in the South I could not. It was funny to think that my mother's brother Hawk was also her Beta. Actually, it is what gave me the idea. He had my father's royal blood and with my mother's blood, he had a royal title. No one would denounce him and no one could fight him. Mortou trained him, in the same manner, he had our Dad, Joe. My brother could beat any Alpha here. His wolf Tys was a monster in battle more feral than any other beast I had seen. Akasa, my wolf, agreed he was a good choice. I paused my thoughts as we neared the top of the stairs facing the people who stood at the top.
They were a group of bright red-headed people. Mostly brown eyes, though the oldest son had bright blue. Rare among redheads I had read during my random internet searching.
Every single wolf here is larger than my mother and Amber. I was even taller than her now at 16. I am five foot six inches now where my brother 18 is now six foot five inches and massive in the build just like our Dad, Joe. He is a bit thinner but everyone says he will thicken out like our Dad. The Ancient Lyican gene my mother contained is what caused his massive size. All wolves are built but the Ancient Lyican gene is what caused them to become closer to bears in their structure and size. It was what set us apart from the werewolves of today. I nodded and went through the motions of greeting all the members before we were shown to our rooms so that we could freshen up before dinner. My brother sat on his bed quietly staring at the ceiling.
They have two portals here. One that leads to death and another that leads to the lab of mad scientists. Both are dangerous and both are deadly. He sat up looking me in the eyes.
Is this the place we battle? I asked him.
Yes, we will be fine. But there will be a split in the group both fighting different things as the Goddesses said. I need to activate what is hidden inside of Lory. She will need to help the others. I watched his wolf Tys surface. A deep rumbling growl leaving his chest as the floorboards shook. Mortou walked in then. Eyeing the both of us.
"So? Is this the place?" Mortou looked between us both.
I looked at my brother, you tell him. I plopped backward on the bed, a massive "Ugh!" Coming from my lungs.
Yes, this is the place. I heard my brother say in the mind link I shared with Mortou.
"Fanfuckingtastic," Mortou flopped down on the bed next to us both. Sounding like Athens.
My sister and I will be fine, something has us untouchable. But everyone else will be split and fighting. I need Lory. The Goddesses gave her something she has not opened yet. My brother Hawk spoke to us both.
"Done, when do you want to see her?" He asked. His eyes still closed laying flat on the bed like a dramatic teen girl.
After dinner tonight. My brother Hawk laid down between us. All of us closing our eyes a deep sigh leaving our chests knowing things were about to go wrong real soon.
