Finding a Place

Loredana's POV
Mike walked me to my door and gave me one more kiss before walking away. I know mates usually stay together after they found each other, which I thought was odd given what we found out tonight. "Are you going to reject me?" I hear myself asking as he began to leave.
Mike whirled around, scooping me up in his arms, "I would never, I just don't want to rush you." He held me close shoving his face into my neck. ,
"Thank you," I whispered into his chest.
"For what?" He brought his deep brown eyes to me.
"For not rejecting me," I whined a little.
"I would never reject you, anyone who would have should be killed on the spot." He huffed a small growl escaping his mouth with the words.
I looked down into his chest as a smile spread across my lips. His words tightening my chest and creating warmth in my stomach. I stepped back out of his embrace, "I should go to bed." I announced more for myself than for him.
"You should," Mike nodded with agreement. "My brother Ace will be watching your door for a bit while I get changed. Then I will be out here if you should need something in the night." Mike kissed my forehead and then left without a word. I stood there watching him leave, wrapping my arms around my body. I felt cold suddenly. I walked into my room, closing the door I slipped out of my dress and started the water in the bath so that I could soak up the heat and relax. I washed up and then stepped out a while later when the water was beginning to get chilly. I put on my tank top and PJ's and settled into my bed. I looked over the schedule for the next few days wondering if there was a way we could tweak it to change it up. Knowing the talking head said that it knew where they would be.
I am back outside your door. I heard Mike's words in my head. A calm washed over me from just his voice in my head.
Thank you. I smiled on my face and in my words.
Welcome kitten. He hummed in my head.
Kitten? I asked him back curious why he would say that. He had said it before the day he scooped me up when my old Alpha had upset and embarrassed me in front of the King and Queen.
He chuckled in my head, your anger that day reminded me of a mad kitten. I could tell he was not mocking me, just as much as I could feel a soft tick of warm emotion pass through the mind link.
Oh, I answered him not knowing what else to say. I had no experience with this type of thing. Good night Mike. I send to him as I curl into the blankets on the bed.
Good night kitten, sweet dreams. Mike hums in my head.

The next morning I woke up and got dressed, Are you outside? I asked Mike.
I am. I could hear the smile in his voice.
I opened the door to see him leaning against the wall with a white tank and grey sweats. My heart stopped his massive arms on full display. I could see tattoos weaving up one arm and going down his chest hidden by the tank top. I let my eyes scan down his chest to his hips and the huge legs. Muscles could be seen even through the stretched fabric of the material used. I gulped.
Mike cleared his throat, "I don't mind you looking," he stepped forward, "but it's making me want to do things you not ready for." he purred in my ear as he scooped me into his arms.
I froze I knew exactly what he meant when I felt it harden near my stomach from his embrace. "Oh sorry," I looked down as a blush hit me hard.
I felt his chest shake with mirth as he whispered seductively in my ear. "Don't be sorry, it just shows how much I want to be with you." He squeezed me tightly a moment. Those words made my insides dance and the blush brighten. "Let's get down to training before Athens comes looking for us." Mike's grin made his face soften. I couldn't even tell he had a scar on his face.
We got down to the trAining just before it started. Athens seemed to be in an odd mood. "I want to introduce a new person who will be joining our group." A man, built like Athens and with a bad boy air stepped forward. He was in a tank and sweats like the rest of the guys. Tattoos covered his arms, chest, and neck. "This is my mate Johnny, he has recently turned vampire so he needs to learn his strengths and weaknesses." Athens turned to Johnny, grabbing both sides of his face he planted a passionate kiss on his lips. I could see both their fangs grew as Johnny's eyes darkened to black. "Later my bad little beefcake," Athens gushed batting his eyes. "Alright, let's get to our training!" He clapped his hands and I felt Jewel yank me away from Mike's arms.
"Hey!" I squeaked.
"You will have him again soon. Trust me you don't to be anywhere near his practice." She chuckled.
"Lory!" I heard Tiffany squeal. "You finally get to train with me!" She grabbed me and spun me around. Her blonde ponytail smacking me in the face when we stopped. I sputtered as I gave her my awkward smile.
"Yes, I do get to train." I glanced around to see people squaring off. I noticed Mike was paired with Joe and Mortou. That made me concerned.
"Don't worry about him, he can hold his own." Amber smiled as she looked in the direction I was.
"Really?" I breathed stunned speechless.
"Yes Mike, in hand to hand ranks right up there with Mortou and Joe." Amber gave me a quick hug then ran off to find Maya.
I watched his muscles ripple in the sun, as Mike turned his eyes to me. Keep staring at me and know that I will carry you upstairs so you can have a closer look. His words laced with desire. I averted my eyes and fanned myself.
"Move it, Lory! Get here before I make you run laps!" Athens's voice snapped in the air bringing my head out of the clouds.
