Chapter 8 What's mine

2745 Words
I awoke on a moist cold cave floor not really remembering what transpired the day before. I lay there and let my thoughts settle. It all came rushing back, the hunt, the kill, and especially the mating. It was a shock that Aella was dead. I was wondering when or if her body would be found by other supes. This kill wasn't nearly as satisfying as the first. I needed more. I looked over to the sleeping dark fey next to me. I honestly was surprised by the outcome. I felt the tiny life inside of my womb. I knew it was there and I also knew that I was going to put it in stasis until my revenge was complete. It wouldn't damage the fetus but Goddess knew it would be much harder to kill with a pregnant belly as a hindrance. The man I saw in front of me looked pained almost sad. Watching someone sleep wasn't a thing I normally did. He was entirely good looking. Someone Aella would've played with. I didn't really care for good looks, they were nice but normally were attached to people with terrible personalities. Most of them deserved to die. Did he? We were bonded now, I'm sure my future child would want a father. Maybe I can find another one? These questions swirled through my head as I decided it didn't matter it was his choice as well. Who cares if I keep him around, I could kill him at any moment. The thought enticed me enough to forget my recent mourning. Aella was a fine supernatural, regardless of her flaws. I would always remember her as exactly as she is, batshit crazy and beautiful. I wondered if my mate felt the morose pang of grief for his siblings and father like I did. I had killed them, there was no doubt and I did it in front of him. I wonder if he'd wake up and hate me? I hope so. I would hate me. I don't deserve forgiveness and I won't ask for it. But I also know that being with me even if you are attached by unexpected situations isn't easy. I'm not a normal person, a normal supe. I like to kill things and get my hands dirty. I for one won't stop at just two families. I will kill the rest it's just a matter of time, as well as anyone who gets in my way. I wonder what my child would think of that? As a siren I can keep my child in stasis for as long as possible, years even. It's like a limbo. Most siren's chose to do this if they are captured, but no one can hold a Siren. As far as I can tell there has never been two siren's in existence at the same time there is only ever one. So, naturally I didn't have any siblings. I wasn't aware of a missing sibling bond until I thought back to the fourth family. They were brothers and they shared everything, clothes, food, rooms and even women from time to time. I never understood why someone would just give half of everything to someone else. I may never understand until my child is born. I would give them anything they asked for on a diamond boulder. They were not going to grow up like I did. Being passed around from family to family, being treated like garbage and grime. Having needs unfulfilled. Surviving. I didn't have to 'survive' anymore, doing whatever was necessary to stay safe and alive, and they would not either. The heart beat in my belly beat just a little more loudly as I thought this. I looked down and whispered "You agree don't you? You may never have anything, a home, a school, friends, or maybe not even a father but you will have me and I'll burn down every single thing that tries to hurt you. Man, woman, a castle or a dragon. I'll do the impossible just for you." I felt peace in my decision. I didn't say these words out of hatred, or revenge it was simply stated. I meant them with my entire being though.I would never leave or allow my child to be hurt; there wasn't much more that needed to be said. I rolled into my side then, staring at the dark cave wall, waiting in silence for my partner to wake up. Silence wasn't new to me. Silence was comfort. Simplicity at it's finest. There was something about silence that was enchanting and deafening all at the same time. I loved it. "I know you don't care enough for me to say those things to my face sleeping or otherwise. You must be with child. I didn't plan on actually impregnating you, but I did think you would at least let me lived if we mated. Burning down a dragon is quiet impossible I hear...." he trailed off chuckling a little to ease the tension. I rolled over to face him. "I knew as soon as it happened, I'm going to put it in stasis till after I eliminate the five families who 'took care' of me my entire life. Mongrels like them don't deserve to walk the same planet as my kin. Breathe the same air, crave the same water. I shall rid the world of them and retire with my child in tow. You are invited, but your presence isn't necessary. Burning a dragon to ash is easier then you think." I said this monotomly, because to my surprise I wasn't exactly enraged by his breaking the silence. I wanted him to understand at least I wasn't going to kill him. What if my child asked for him one day and all I gave them was bones? That would be a disgrace. I should probably tell him he's not allow to die until my child says so. "You knew immediately?" he questioned dumbfounded. "Yes." I was curious as to what to say next. Why was he asking me a question I already told him the answer to. " Is that why I'm alive?" He said this on his back staring at the ceiling, what little he could see of it. "Yes, I figured my child might need a father. Goddess knows I never had one. Things might have been quiet different if either of my parents were alive." This I spouted in exasperation, he was getting annoying asking basically the same question. "What happened to them?" He asked this curiously as if he didn't mean to ask about a sore spot. He didn't know me very well. Grief is just apart of life, death is literally parallel to life, if you meet anyone in your life there will come a day when they die. Acceptance of this fact is the better option, because if you deny this truth you'll become broken and bitter. I tried recalling my parents. I don't have any memories of them. Just my families that I didn't want or ask for. "I don't know, I never met them. I know my mother was a Siren, and I know my father was something else. No one ever mentioned it to me." It sounded sad but really I was racking my brain to remember where I even found this information. Are females only Siren's? Do only Siren's make Siren's? Are they always women? These thoughts vexed me, because I wanted to know. Not that it was relevant or important, I didn't know and that was already starting to drive me crazy. I huffed, "I don't even know the other half of my genetics, no one ever spoke of him. I don't even know where I learned my mother was a Siren. I don't even know if our baby will be a Siren. If sirens can have more than one child. Or if that child is always a girl. How are we even so powerful if there isn't more than one siren alive at a time? These questions have always went unanswered to me." This came out in a rush but otherwise hit the mark. "Sirens are normally always women. Their children, no matter how many can all be siren's. If a siren has a male child he'll always take after his father's half more than likely, but can also be a siren. There can be more than one siren alive at a time there just isn't at the moment and hasn't been for generations. Siren's aren't always as powerful as you. Some have been as weak as incubi, pixies, and gnomes. The only supes that are never spoken of are the ones who control death. Maybe your father is a death clan?" He said this with hope in his voice and he looked at me then with one arm behind his head and barely turning his body in my direction. "Where do you learn these things? How do you know how powerful I actually am? And why haven't there been many sirens up until now. Why are we so mistreated?" This information just gave me more questions. "I learned this from my family. Our clan is keepers of knowledge, well my dad's clan. Of course they don't know a whole lot anymore but I do know that at one time a Siren took over an entire group of supes. She enslaved them with her song, she treated everyone like garbage including the councilmen, and their ancestors. Sense sirens live for so long and the powerful ones are impossible to beat, it was almost five hundred years before she finally got bored and left. Sirens are switched every five years so that they don't become too close with one family. They are mistreated because those families are always descendants of those slaves, also sirens who are powerful are scary as s**t. Especially you. I don't know what it is about you but you are one powerful and terrorizing person. I have never heard of an account of a siren that was literally this strong." He gazed at me intensely then. As if he was lost in thought but also searching for something. "Sirens can mate but most chose not to because their destined mate isn't that powerful. They always chose their seconds mates from a more powerful supernatural. I think thats how mother earth tried to balance out the power scale. Can you really burn a dragon though?" I laughed that last part actually made me laugh. I had entirely forgot about the dragon. "Yes, there isn't a supernatural I have met or been introduced to that I cannot beat. No one has as much magic as me. Even though some come close, but I'm industrictible." I smiled when I said this I liked watching his face change emotions as I spoke. "I've seen just how strong you are. You're agile, and a damn good huntress. Your voice is amazing and so is your body. What can't you do?" "Feel remorse..." I wondered how he would take this. I studied him as he pondered. "Why? Remorse is also apart of life you're supposed to learn from your mistakes. Then do better." He said this hurriedly as if he could change my mind the faster he said it. "Remorse is for when you feel bad about something you did. A deep regret or a wrong you committed. You go out of your way to make up for it, even taking initiative, and going the extra mile. I slaughtered people. I wore their blood like war paint, I smelled their fear and wore it like perfume. I coated my limbs in the stench of their fear and I became a goddess unto them, a goddess of destruction and death. I do not feel guilty for being so terrible, nor do I feel ashamed for being so great." I said this with wisdom that I had gathered many years ago. With my third family. It's funny how being abused turns you into a force to be reckoned with. It is also funny how torture gives you a new threshold for pain and an imagination worthy of the God's. It's just hilarious that once one has seen first hand cruelty, that then becomes a foundation for their own cruelty. I thought of my child then. I would never allow my kid to be around such terrible things. They would never have to understand grief, loneliness, terror, pain, sadness, or even anger if I can help it. I should scrub the streets clean, and sing to the masses of peace. I should plant fields of food and destroy any substance of abuse. Even though a world I could alter and create wouldn't give them the total life that they deserve. I can worn them of evil but I cannot watch as evil touches them. I'm already tainted not them. They are prescious. They are good. They are important and..... loved. I loved my child. To the very fabric of my being, every ounce of my soul I loved them. " In my life I was never given an opportunity to feel remorse, and I refuse to feel it now. ai survived, I grew strong, I came back to kill those who watched me suffer. It's that simple. What type of magic or energy do you know?" After my questions were answered I wanted to know about dark fey. " I know reinforcement magic. I can make either myself or someone else stronger ,faster, and give them better reflexes. But that's all I know." I studied him and thought to myself. On one hand if he's weak he'll be easy to kill. Like a flick of my wrist, if he's strong it'll take longer but he won't be a sitting duck and could defend himself better. He isn't allowed to die until my child says so. And if anyone found out he was tied to me, they may use him to get to me or my child. I don't care about me just my kid. "Fine, I'll teach you what I learned." I rose then and he rose with me. His face was concerned but there was no fear. "Everyone whose tried to teach me magic failed, they said I just don't have enough to use. "He looked sheepish, which made him look rather good. I placed my hand firmly in the middle of his chest near his core. I smiled, " They weren't looking for you magic they were just instructing you on how they new how to use it. If they don't know how to use your magic how can they instruct you," I paused until recognition shown on his face," at his will hurt." I didn't wait to see the look of surprise on his face nor did I watch as he gritted his teeth in silence. As I pushed my magic into his chest humming a small lullaby at the same time. Concentrating, directing and controlling my energy. It flew into him in a rush at first like a damn exploding, It traveled through his body from his center out, twisting and turning with his blood. Retracting and inflating with his lungs. Firing neutrons on his brain. Settling in deep into the fiber of his being untill I found it. The magic hidden inside his bones. His very essence. I wrapped my energy around his forcing his to the surface. Slowly waking his energy up. Carrying with me while exiting his body. Slowly. Until I let go, and removed my hand. His eyes glowed a deep green. His body shuddered and convulsed. His muscles contracting and spasmed. His breaking hitched his teeth still gritted. The. when I thought the worst was over he collapsed. Like a sack of potatoes. "Well damn." I whispered to myself ,then quickly reminding myself to watch my mouth. I bent over the fire poking it and rekindling the flames, I then headed outside to hunt and find water of sorts. I'm sure he would need it when he woke up. I didn't know what would happen. But I could tell he was actually powerful. Which was surprising. His energy was dark, heavy and refreshing. As if I dove into a creek for hours and walked out feeling as if my soul was cleaned.Maybe this second mate business isn't so bad after all. He was mine now, and like a puppy I planned to keep and train him accordingly.
