Chapter 24

I pulled away and before I could speak her shirt was off and she was pushing me on the bed.  “Baby, I really need to tell you something.”  “Really? Can’t we talk about it later?” She said, giving me the sexiest pout.  “Please,” I begged. If she told me no, I would just give her what she wanted. What I want.  “Fine.” She didn’t put her clothes back on but she rolled off me.  Taking a deep breath, I sat up and realized it was now or never. There was no easy way to do this and I had thought about it over and over and I was going to just tell her.  “I’m not a human. I’m a Kappi. A supernatural being.”  **Everly**  “What?” I couldn’t help but giggle. He couldn’t be serious. “We are extreme warriors. We rule our own realms and protect those around us.” “If you didn’t want to have s*x with me you could have just told me.” I was pissed. I jumped off the bed and pulled my shirt on.  “I’m telling you the truth. You are my flame or soulmate.”  Of course, the first guy I fall for after my husband has to be crazy. How did he hide it from me?  “Let me show you.” He said, standing up. There was a desperation in his voice, so I sat down and waited.  He pulled his hands apart and there was gold rope in his hands. My mouth went dry. How was that possible? Was he being serious right now? What does all of this mean? I couldn’t talk. I just sat and looked at the gold rope in his hands. Myabe it was some kind of magic trick? He pushed his hands back together and it was gone.  “Everly, baby, talk to me.” He kneeled in front of me and cupped my face with his hands.  “What does all of this mean?” “It means you are mine forever. I will never hurt you or let anybody hurt you. When we make love, it will be us mating and I will mark you.”  “You will what?”  “I will use my energy to mark you. This tells other supernaturals you are mine.”  “Other Kappi?” I said slowly, unsure of what I was asking.  “All supernaturals. Kappi, werewolves, angels, vampires.”  Holy s**t is he telling me all those things are real? Nope, this was not happening. “I need a drink.” I managed to get out as I stood up and walked toward the kitchen. I could feel Dustin was right behind me. I grabbed a bottle of wine and poured two glasses. Taking mine, I drank it all and poured a second one.  “I’m still just Dustin.”  “I’m sorry this is just a lot to take in.”  “I know, but I need you to know I love you.”  I stopped and looked at him. He looked so worried and I realized how unfair this must be to him. I was freaking out but this had to be so hard for him to tell me. “I love you too. I just….I guess I’m in shock. You just told me werewolves and vampires are real.” “And Kappi and Angels, just to name a few.”  “I’ve never heard of a Kappi until 5 minutes ago, but I knew about Angels and Demons.”  “You did?”  “I used to go to church every Sunday until David died. My grandparents were devout Catholics, but that is a story for another time.”  “Have you ever seen an angel?”  “No, but I read about them.” He seemed disappointed that I had not seen an angel. I slowly sipped my second glass of wine.  “What does us being mates mean?”  “I know you feel the sparks when I touch you and I assume you feel the desire to be with me.”  I nodded yes.  “After we mate and I mark you, we will be able to feel each others emotions and we can mind link each other.”  “I could hear you in my head?”  “Yes.” He chuckled a bit.  “You really live in a different realm?”  “I do and I can’t wait to take you.” “How do we get there?” Was I really asking this like it was a normal conversation? “I will open a portal.” I had so many more questions but I wasn’t sure if I could take in more information.  “Are you doing OK?” He asked.  “I’m getting there.”  “Good, because that isn’t all.”  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hear more but we had already opened the door.  “I don’t really understand everything fully, but you are not just human.”  I couldn’t help but laugh. I was one hundred percent human.  “What are you talking about?”  “As a Kappi, we have heightened speed, vision, hearing, and scent. You and your family don’t smell human, but it’s subtle. I didn't notice it until I kissed you.”  “What am I then?” I still wasn’t buying it.  “From the picture you showed me, I think you are half Angel.” “What does that mean?”  “I don’t think that is all and I have Milo working on figuring it out.”  “Is that all?”  “No, Gavin is also Kappi and Kennedy is his flame.”  “He hasn’t told her.”  “No, he has been waiting for me to tell you.” “Dustin, I don’t even know how to process all of this information.”  “You said you loved me.”  “I do.”  “That’s all that matters. We will figure the rest out together.” He had moved my wine out of my reach and was right in front of me. His lips found mine and I found myself wrapping my arms around his neck. He made it all seem so simple but I doubt it was going to be easy.
