LAST WOMAN ON EARTH
Linda said yes. She said yes with a smile written all over her face as Cole stood in front of her with a Diamond ring. " Will you make me the the happiest man on earth?" he asked. Linda rushed to his arms and kissed him deeply before saying yes. That evening, the music was loud - loud enough to hide the moans that filled the room. After the engagement, Cole kissed her hard, pinning her against the wall as he quickly undressed her. His mouth moved down to her breasts, licking and sucking with hunger. Then he lifted her, carried her to the bed, and hooked her legs over his shoulders. He pushed into her in one deep thrust. She moaned loudly, holding the Bedsheet tightly as he moved to and fro gently. they didn't stop until Cole came deep inside her. He cleaned her gently and led her to the bathroom. Linda thought they were done for the night. But he was just starting. As the warm water ran over them in the shower, she felt him hard against her from behind. she bent forward with her hands against the wet tiles. "urrgh.... babe, I can feel it in my tummy...fuck me harder" She moaned, her neck almost touching the wet floor. Cole pulled out of her ass, turned her around and laid her on the wet bathroom floor. " Devour me until I can't walk, I'm all yours" , she said staring at the Diamond ring on her fingers as she spread her legs for him. Cole did exactly as she wanted. When they finally finished, he carried her to the bedroom, because her legs could barely stand on its own. They put on their night clothes and settled in to Watch the evening news. In the middle of the quiet conversation, Cole asked " If the world ended tomorrow, would you Still find me ?" Linda laughed softly " If the world would ended tomorrow, I would still find you, my love." That was their last night together. Linda woke up early the next morning and reached for Cole but he was no where to be found. The bed was empty " Babe, I need a massage...I think you broke me, " She said jokingly. Silence. " It's not funny anymore. where are you?" Still no answer. Fear Spread across her face. she ran to the front door and pulled it open. The world was empty. Silent trees. Abandoned Houses. Nothing but dry smell of dust. She stood there alone. The only one left in the whole of new york. Linda ran back inside the apartment. Her bare foot touching the cold tiles. The apartment that had been full of music and soft kisses was now full of dust. Dust was everywhere, hanging in the air like snow that refused to fall. She needed to get her head straight. She needed to think. Last night was perfect, Cole had proposed to her in the living room. He knelt down right there with a Diamond ring. That was yesterday night. Yesterday night. So why was she waking alone?. " Cole!" She shouted. Her voiced cracked. " Cole!". No answer. She ran from room to room. The kitchen was Still open. A coffee cup was there, like someone had just left it warm. She stood in the middle of the living room, breathing heavily, and that was when the silence really hit her. There is silence for peace, but this one was totally different. This was silence of world that had been switched off. No cars honking from the new york Street below. No children shouting. No Radio from Mrs Crystal's next door. Nothing. Only her own breath was heard. She pressed her hand against her chest to calm her heart that was already beating so fast and her fingers touched something cold. The ring. The diamond ring was still there. For a second that was a proof that it wasn't a dream. Cole really proposed to her last night. How long has been asleep? Did she sleep for a day? A month? A year? The dust on the table was too thick. Thick enough to write on. She dragged her finger through it. A clean line appeared. Nobody had cleaned this place for a week. But Cole was a clean freak. He would never allow such dust. Another question came, scarier than before. Why is no one on earth. She remembered the news. Two weeks ago, people were talking about the CARRIERS. Big winged creature seen over Brooklyn. The government said it was a weather balloon. Cole said it was a joke. But the streets started getting empty. People started travelling out of the city with big bags. Did she sleep through the end?. She ran to the bathroom. She needed water on her face. She opened the tap, warm water came out, warm. Strange. Water was still warm. That meant the heater was on recently. Someone used it today. She looked up to the mirror. The mirror was fogged with steam. And on the steam, someone had written with a finger, fast before the steam could clear. FIND ME AT THE END.... The letters was dripping. Underneath, the writer tried to write more. CO... the line stopped. Like the person was being pulled away by a thing. Cole. Cole wrote this. Linda's heart flew to her mouth. He was here this morning. He wrote this for her. He was trying to tell her where to go. But where is the end? The end of what? The end of the street? The end of the city? The end of the world?. She stared at the message until it suddenly disappeared, as if they were never there. That's when she heard it. Thud. A footstep. Heavy. Not human. Thud. Thud. It was coming from outside the apartment, from the broken, dusty balcony. The sound of something big enough to collapse the whole building. She quickly grabbed the broken piece wooden chair with fear. She held it like a shield, stupidly, in front of her chest, as if the wood could save her from whatever was out there. She hid under the couch at the living room, in her pink night dress. The same night dress she wore when Cole devoured her. Now dusty and torn. She held her breath. The balcony door was kicked open. Wind rushed in. Dust rushed in. And then it entered. At first she thought it was small because it was struggling to fit through the door. But when it stood up to its full height in her living room, it was not small at all. It was the CARRIER. Its wings were like torn black leather, so wide they covered the top of the walls. They had holes in them, like they had been shot at. It had no shadow. That was the strangest thing. Light passed through it. But it cast nothing on the floor. It did not eat people. That was the rumours said. It carried them. It carried them to the end. Why didn't it carry Cole? Why did it let him write?. The creature turned its head. Its Empty eyes locked on the couch linda was hiding. It saw her. For five seconds, nothing happened. Then it opened its mouth, not to roar, but like it was going speak, and it started to walk towards her. Linda didn't think twice. She threw the wood shield at it and ran. She ran out of the apartment, Out of the building, into the destroyed street of new york, with only one thing shining on her finger The Diamond ring. She kept on asking herself . If the world ended yesterday night after the engagement, why was she the only one left? .
