It had been a year since Louise had left them, and while life went on, nothing was the same.
“Are you ready?” Kate asked Mark.
If anyone had asked her a year ago if she and Mark would ever get back together, she’d have said no. It seemed unfair to be happy when her best friend was no longer around. But as Louise had said in her letter, life is precious. She didn’t want to close the door on someone that made her happy and made her feel like she too was precious. She’s learned since then to never say, never.
“Yup, we’re ready,” Mark said with Adam in tow.
“I don’t want to be late.” Kate took one last glance in the mirror. “How do I look?”
