AbbyAfter the unveiling, they all crossed over to the Village Park and gathered around the old Mulberry tree that stood as the favorite of Louise and Philip. Just as they had many times in the past, they laid several picnic blankets on the ground and set out thermoses of pre-made tea, coffee, and hot chocolate for the children.
It was a beautiful ceremony, and Abby was grateful that they could all be together. In the last six years since she’d moved to Carlton Bay to live with Louise, her experience and understanding of family had only grown. She looked around her as she sat surrounded by everyone she loved. Louise was right—there was nothing more important than being with those you love.
“I miss Mom and Philip,” Abby said as they all sat down in a large circle.
