Bound to love you

I was in the library at school answering my math homework in advance, because I didn't want to do it from home. It was the period right after lunch and I did not have a class, so I took the opportunity rather than wste it in something silly. After that I rushed to my next class before I was late, i was the first one there " obviously " everyone else always arrives minutes before the teacher. I sat done at my seat, it was by the window but not at the back. Slowly the class started being filled by students, all of them sitting in their friend groups. No one sat next to me because my only friend who was also my best friend was in neither of my classes so I had an empty seat next to me. Right before the final bell rang, the last person to enter the class was none other than Roland Hunter. He never spoke to anyone or sat next to any girl, so I was so shocked when he started walking my way. He pulled the seat next to mine and sat down. Roland was the school bad boy, he never spoke to anyone outside his friend group, he has never had a girlfriend, he never ever spoke to females. " Do you have a spare pencil?" Roland said, I was in shock that I didn't know what to say, I just looked into my bag and pulled out a spare pencil and gave it to him. I would be lying if I said I didn't like Roland Hunter, I mean, the guy is so good looking it should be illegal, he's very intelligent as well, that alone to me makes a guy so attractive, but I don't live on such thoughts because I know it can never come true. Roland and I have been in the same class since forever and I've had a crush on him since then. But I don't want a mate, I don't want to be treated like trash, men will be men, and I will not settle for that. At that very moment I received a text, I got my phone out and saw that it was from Martha my best friend " Meet me in the parking lot immediately after school, I have something very important to tell you!!!!" the text read. I stopped concentrating on Roland and started paying attention in class. immediately that class ended he put the pencil on my desk and walked out, I packed my things and walked to my next class. The day went by so fast and it was finally the end of the day. I walked to the parking lot and what I saw made my jaw drop. My best friend was hugging Josh Smith. The Josh Smith, Roland Hunter's best friend, the only person he talks to. I watched him peck her cheek before he walked away. "What the heck is happening?" I said as I walked her way " suprise!!! " she said, I rolled my eyes " Martha what is going on?" "that's what I wanted to talk to you about" she said and got into her car, I did the same. we sat down in a comfortable silence before she said " I found my mate" I was quiet for a minute, processing what she just said. " You found your mate" I repeated she nodded, she looked nervous when she said this because she knows how I feel about mates. But I knew she really wanted one, my best friend really loves love, she has always wanted a mate, and just because I don't believe in this doesn't mean she has to suffer. I can see it in her eyes, she is really happy, and because it makes her happy to be with her mate, I'm happy for her. " Martha, I'm very happy for you" I said with a smile on my face, she looked at me surprised " really?" she asked, " really really" I replied " aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she screamed, " I'm really happy that you have said that, I was worried that you would not be my friend anymore" " seriously Martha, why would I stop being your friend just because you found your mate, it's bound to happen anyway and I can't keep you from your love" "you are the best best friend ever" she said " put it on a shirt" I laughed, she rolled her eyes " so....... how did you too meet?" I asked she shrieked " I've been waiting for you to ask me that question" she said " so, I was in study class during free period right, Roland Hunter was in there too, he was sitting at the back as usual. I was busy with my homework you know when I get home I have to binge watch all the episodes of how I met your mother so that I can catch up, suddenly the door opened and in walked Josh, he was walking towards Roland when he stopped, at that moment I smellt a very delicious scent, it was pine and mint, I looked up towards him and he was looking at me he walked up to me, pulled me out of my seat and hugged me and whispered the most amazing words that made my heart flutter, I was ecstatic when he said "mate" i was over the moon. I was in his arms for a long time, and it was the best feeling ever, it was warm and it smelled great and I felt safe you know. After that he just sat down next to me and we just talked" she finally finished " wow, you have the biggest smile I have ever seen on your face" I noted, she laughed " that's because I'm really happy, I've known him for about three hours and he is making me happy, I'm ready to see where all this leads" " I hope you will not leave me alone at lunch to sit with him" she gasped dramatically like always " Mallory, what do you take me for, I would do no such thing, you will sit with us at his table" I actually chocked on my saliva " what!!! there's no way I'm sitting at the same table with Roland Hunter" " why not, you've liked him since forever, and I'm sure if he gets to know you better, he will actually like you" she said, I didn't want to believe what she said, because belief brings hope and hope brings expectations and once those expectations have not been met it brings disappointments which leads to heart break, and I'm just not ready to have my heart broken. " Martha don't say such things, us I'm over my crush on him" I lied, she gave me an all knowing look, " then you will have no problem with sitting with us at lunch" she smirked, oooh I didn't see that coming. I didn't reply and I changed the subject " so when do I meet him?" " well he has gone home right now, so probably tommorow at lunch, are you up for it, I really don't want to force you into sitting next to Roland" I rolled eyes " yes Mom I can do it, it won't be the first time anyway" I said without realizing " what do you mean by its not the first time" she asked me curiously, I gave her a sheepish smile " well he sat next to me today during class, he even spoke to me" I said nonchalantly " what!!!!! seriously, and you haven't thought of telling me this!!" " well it's not like I had the opportunity or the time to, you had big news to tell me and I didn't want to disturb you with this little thing" I said casually " you call talking to Roland Hunter a little thing? what the heck is wrong with you" I rolled my eyes, she sure is dramatic " Martha I didn't talk to him he just said six words to me, not that I'm counting, and he sat next to me, it's not a big deal" I shrugged, she looked at me like I've grown a second head. " Mallory you need serious help, I can't handle that" I laughed as she started the car. We to started talking about our day and some plans for her upcoming birthday. I was really happy that she was happy, and that was my birthday wish for her.
