The Alpha’s Mate

Chapter ten

I blinked a good twenty times with my eyes wide. I am surprised they haven’t popped out of my head yet.

Holy crap! That’s my parents I saw standing few steps away from me.

I rushed towards them and Alpha followed close behind me. So close I was afraid if I stopped he would crash into my back.

A man approached us as we walked which I suppose he is an Alpha himself. And Alpha coinin gently called out to me.

The large man I would normally feel very threatened by seemed as intimidating as a kitten standing near Alpha coinin Dulphus.

“ Alpha Dulphus.” The man said, causing Alpha to stiffen up.

Alpha simply nodded in return. The man turned to me.

“Hello, I am Alpha Logan.”

“Diana Grace” I answered, trying to smile but it came out more as a grimace.

As the two men began to converse I excused myself heading towards my parents, who stood whispering to each other frantically.

I gently tapped my father’s shoulder and he turned towards me, wrapping me in his warm embrace.

I forced myself not to cry snuggling in further, crumpling his fresh suit but he didn’t seem to care.

“My poor little doll, I would do anything to keep you away from him.” I couldn’t hold it in anymore, a tear trailed down my cheek as I pulled away reaching up to give my father a kiss on the cheek.

“ I know daddy, I know.” I said pulling away from my father and turned to my mother who was tearing up looking at us.

She smiled at me softly, pulling me in for a gentle hug and I couldn’t help it, I was closer to my father but the feeling of being in your mothers arms could soothe anyone.

“Diana.” His voice called out and instilled in my mum’s arms.

I slowly turned around looking at him, wanting to hurt the man who caused my parents this pain.

He reached out to me softly, taking my hands in his but I pulled away causing him to look at me with hurt but the expression was gone before I could truly read it and I faced my parents again.

My dad stood there glaring at him.

Alpha put out his hand to my father.

“ I am coinin Dulphus. You must be Diana’s father.”

My father briefly shook hands with him.

“Lucas Bridgeton.” My father said looking at Alpha sternly.

“And you must be her mother.”

Alpha said turning towards my mother.

“Yes. Ana Bridgeton.” My mother said completely serious as she put her hand in his awaiting one.

“ I hope you are both enjoying the ball.” Alpha Sa’id in his velvety voice.

My father just nodded while mum completely ignoring his words completely.

“Alpha Dulphus I-“ my father started But Alpha immediately interrupted him.

“Please call me Dulphus.” He said.

My mum noticing my father’s irritated expression, quickly intercepted before my father could speak.

“ umm Dulphus, what we want to say is, our daughter is very young as you can see, it will be appropriate for you to perhaps-Uhmm- wait until she has completed her education, to move further into your relationship.”

My mum said trying to keep her voice strong.

Alpha looked furious but composed himself.

“ she is my mate and I can not leave without her. She is old enough to attend the ball, meaning she is old enough to be in this relationship. And I assure you that I would never rush your daughter into doing something she is not comfortable with.”

Alpha said sincerely, causing my father to scoff in blatant disbelief.

Alpha raid his brows at him, challenging and I interrupted before my impulse father gets himself hurt.

“Alpha would you give me a moment alone with my parents, please?”

I asked, struggling not to shutter when he turned towards me, his eyes blaring into me as I spoke.

He nodded slowly, nodding at my parents in farewell before he left.

I stayed trying to pacify my upset parents and suddenly I felt someone hugging me from behind. I turned ad I saw Eva, her eyes soft and sympathetic. We all stood there talking as if this isn’t the last time I would ever see them.. as if I hadn’t just been introduced as a mate by the worst of all monsters. Soon his voice interrupted.

“I thank you all for attending the ball on very short notice. I would like to take a moment to congratulate all the newly mates couples on finding their soulmates. I couldn’t congratulate you on the last ball, because of some personal reasons.

I kindly ask you all to begin making your way to the exist, my guards will be willing to help, if you need help finding your vehicles.”

Alpha said with his face void of any emotions as he stepped off the stage making his way towards me.

We all stood in silence as he approached, the crowd lessening by the second.

“Mr and mrs Bridgeton, if you two would kindly make your way to the car, I would like to speak to Diana for a moment .”

I saw how hesitant my dad looked but he nodded in agreement, doing my best to smile. I watched them walk away and I thought to myself; would he at least let me say goodbye to them this time around?

Alpha took my hands softly, putting them both in his, bringing them close to his chest.

“I wish I could keep you here with me , it pains me to see you leave, but you must be tired, and you do need to start packing.”

I nodded, hoping to get out of here as quick as possible to say goodbye to my parents and at least hug them so tight. Until the realization of what he just said dawned on me.

My eyes went wide, my mouth dropped down and for a split second I thought I didn’t hear him right until I saw the look on his face...
