Ava called me while I was leaving work to come over for a girl’s night. Now I’m in the car heading to her apartment to have some much-needed time away from my stressful job. My driver stops, so I can run into the store to get wine. As I’m walking to the wine aisle, I notice an old woman trying to get the wine from the upper self. So, I reached for it and handed it to her. She looked at me and said thank you so much for helping an old lady out. I told her she was more than welcome. I turn and grab the Stelle Rose bottle and check out. As I get to my car, Oscar opens the door for me to get in. Oscar parked outside Ava apartment. I walked into her complex and up two flights of stairs. I knocked on her door. Ava answers the door and I walk into the kitchen to get the wine glasses so we can sit and relax. We grab our wine and head to the couch to get comfortable. Ava has the most fun when it comes to work. She is a PI and enjoys being completely noisy. That is how we became best friends. She starts telling me about this new guy she met while working one of her jobs. That this guy is hot as hell, and she needs my help. Wait, why would you need my help, Ava? She laughs and says it because he will only agree to a date if it’s a double date with his twin brother. So, you are asking me to have a date with the twin. Yes, my sweet friend, that is what I’m asking you. Plus, you totally owe me one for the information I got on that last contract for you. So, you called for a girl’s night, so I can go on a blind date to help you out. Ava, I will agree with this just because I love you. But I have the right to leave at any time, OK. She shakes her head at me. Why don’t you want to try and date a girl? It is not that I don’t want to date, I just work so much and have not found the right man to make me want to try to date. Girl, you are making it hard for no reason get out more and find the reason. Stop losing yourself at work. Ava, stop we have been over this so many times. I promise to try more. OK, now can we drop it and enjoy our wine? She laughs, and we start talking about her giving me a makeover, so I can look hot for this double date. She had better be glad I love her so much. The next 4 hours go by so fast. I said my goodbyes to Ava and made my way down to my car. Oscar opens the door for me to get in. I told Oscar to take me home. I walked up to my house and unlocked the door. Walking into my beautiful home with an open floor plan. I walk into my office on the side of my living room to put up all my work stuff before going upstairs to my room. As I walk up the stairs, I can’t stop thinking of the fact I’m stuck on this blind date. Ava tricked me yet again. She thinks I fell for her lies. She is always trying to get me on a date. It’s been five years since I last dated. I opened my bedroom door and walked to my larger closet to get my pajamas. I go into my bathroom and turn on the shower. I’m so ready to feel the hot water on my skin. So glad to wash away the workday and relax under the waterfall shower. Standing under the hot water, I close my eyes and start to think of the reasons why I don’t date.
