As much as I hate to admit it, it was the best sleep I’d had since this whole thing started. It wasn’t some magic cure, I know that, but for now, it helped. Not that he would EVER know that. As far as he’s concerned . . . I proved it was a wouldn’t and not a can’t.  But even then, the whole night and he kept to his side of the bed. It took me a few hours to drift off, and I’m pretty sure he knew full well it was a can’t, but he left it.  He left it, I slept, and we both won.  For now. My days were spent pretty much the same leading up to the trip. Packing, mentally pacing and awkwardly crawling into the enemies bed until the first ray of light splattered through the small opening of his curtains.
