"What's taking them so long?" Hai Liang muttered while writing on the ground. Hu could care less and yawned. Suddenly, the young girl grabbed Hu and hugged him tight. "I never knew spirit beasts will be this cute and cuddly! Hu, can you be my pet?" she asked and shook Hu around. The white tiger was suffocated he quickly struggled.
"A pet? I am more than a pet!" Hu flew upward to keep a distance. Suddenly, his heart thumped. He looked ahead with a frown. "Master..."
"Hey, Hu! Wait!" Hai Liang followed Hu to the same direction where Zi Gu Wen and Shi Zhao went.
"Sovereign Hei, lend me a bit of your Authority." Zi Yingjun requested. Sovereign Hei nodded and the mark on Zi Yingjun glowed. His purple irises became a dot of blue green as his whole eyes turned black. Zi Yingjun was amazed how the Shadow Asura's Authority works. Time seems to have slowed down. Every rustle of a leaf was slower than snails. An Authority is a skill that beasts with consciousness can give to their master. It is an alternative for killer moves with less consumption of qi since both beast and master have to share their energy.
"Zi Gu Wen, I will have to ask you to leave and guard the princess. Hu will be here in no time and he will cant guard her once he arrives. The Shadow Asura is at the peak of Foundation Building, both of us cant defeat it." Shi Zhao gave a warning. Zi Gu Wen is still reluctant to leave but at this moment, he have no advantage at all. Both Shi Zhao and Zi Yingjun have a beast to enhance their skills and he doesn't have one. If he stays, he'll die or even burden Shi Zhao.
"Can you defeat him?" Zi Gu Wen asked.
"Rest assured, I can. The Shadow Asura is a demon beast and demon beasts are difficult to control even if they entered a life contract with their master. Zi Yingjun is not even in the Foundation Building so he cant fully control the Shadow Asura. In my view, the Shadow Asura corrupted his mind. That is why Zi Yingjun is this evil." Shi Zhao was able to persuade Zi Gu Wen. Just as Zi Gu Wen rushed back to where they left Hai Liang, Hu finally arrived.
Hai Liang breathlessly leaned on a tree and took a peek. She was confused why the atmosphere between Zi Yingjun and Shi Zhao was cold. Even more than that, a shadowy figure stood behind Zi Yingjun. Both men were holding a weapon but who is their opponent?
"Hu, merge." Shi Zhao commanded. Hu disappeared and a pair of wings emerged from Shi Zhao's back. A fang protruded from Shi Zhao's lips, black stripes formed on his cheeks as his ears became like Hu's. His scholarly clothes changed to a martial suit. The null stone on Bai Steel became brown. Shi Zhao needs to finish this quick and not give Zi Yingjun any advantage since he knows Zi Yingjun is clever in plotting.
The ground shook and stones floated on air. Shi Zhao moved and a strong gust of wind drove the stones towards Zi Yingjun. Hai Liang covered her mouth to avoid screaming in order to watch in secret. She thought Zi Yingjun will be hurt but he leapt upwards and stepped on the stones to get closer to Shi Zhao. At the same time, the sword he holds broke and turned into scythes. They aimed at Shi Zhao in a very quick speed.
"Watch where you're aiming!" Sovereign Hei shouted in anger once a stone nearly struck him. He then noticed Hai Liang looking at him. She quickly hid behind the tree and acted as if nothing happened. Sovereign Hei smelled a new scent from her. It was like blood. His mind suddenly flashed an image of her future self. The adult Hai Liang in ragged red dress while a man in dark purple robe destroyed her dantian by stabbing her abdomen. Sovereign Hei remembered now. The scent of blood on her was her foundation in becoming one of Zi Yingjun's greatest enemy. Should he or should he not kill the girl?
Shi Zhao changed the color of the null stone into black. A barrier made of metal emerged from the ground and blocked the scythes. Zi Yingjun waved his hand and the scythes formed into a sword. He leapt for the final jump, caught the sword and stabbed it to the metal barrier. To Shi Zhao's surprise, the metal barrier became rusty before it collapsed into red dusts. He have no other choice than to use melee against Zi Yingjun.
Zi Yingjun moved quite fast that even Shi Zhao can barely catch up to defend himself. He took a glance behind Zi Yingjun to see that the Shadow Asura is gone. Shi Zhao gritted his teeth and separated with Hu. He fell down without his wings and Zi Yingjun was unable to stab him on time.
"Hu, find that Shadow Asura!" Shi Zhao fell in a dire situation. Hu hurriedly left and spotted the Shadow Asura carrying Hai Liang.
"Let go of the girl!" Hu formed himself into a huge beast, his real appearance. He is now a ferocious tiger with protruding sharp fangs as he growled at Sovereign Hei.
"Wuwu! Master, save me!" Hai Liang cried out and looked at Zi Yingjun. He spared her a glance but then, attacked Shi Zhao like he doesn't care for her. Hai Liang gulped. Did she trust the wrong person? Did Zi Yingjun really betrayed them?
"Princess!" finally, Zi Gu Wen came back and found Hai Liang but she was caught by Sovereign Hei. He took a pause and hesitated whether to fight or not.
Hu lunged on Sovereign Hei, baring his sharp teeth and fangs. Sovereign Hei blinked and everything slowed down. He just walked to the side and avoided Hu but in other people's view, he vanished and reappeared to a different place. Hu kept chasing Sovereign Hei with the thought of devouring him. The forest was almost turned upside down because of Hu's massive body destroying everything on its path.
