Jin Xuan Meng was taken aback. She thought even her brother can sense Shi Zhao's scent. No wonder Jin Xuan Pei never spoke about it. It caught her off guard but she still knows how to counter his remark. She had lived as Jin Xuan Meng for ten years, Shi Zhao cant blow her cover now. Her eyes went sharp and met Shi Zhao's haughty glimpse. Jin Xuan Meng crossed her arms and snorted. "I am no woman if you say it like that. I was born with a sensitive nose."
Shi Zhao just smiled. It was a charming one even Jin Xuan Meng's heart paced fast. She cursed herself for reacting this way. Jin Xuan Meng kept her proud look but she felt inexplicably nervous behind her mask.
"If you say so." Shi Zhao let the matter go. He knew she is lying but he didn't come here to expose her. "Is there any abnormalities here in the past days?"
"Oh. There's nothing. Aside from Zi Yingjun, he's always abnormal." she whispered as if gossiping. Jin Xuan Meng looked around but Zi Yingjun is still not back. "Aside from today, nothing strange happened. The spirit beasts suddenly charged towards us while we were hunting. Luckily, Zi Yingjun made a base here. The spirit beasts cant shake this sturdy tree."
"It seems convenient. Even winged spirit beasts cant move here easily." he observed the terrain carefully. Shi Zhao is starting to doubt if it was pure coincidence or planned early. After all, Jin Xuan Pei had told him the situation last season where a genius died, Jin Xuan Meng was disqualified and Zi Yingjun won. It was a good scheme if not for the fact Zi Yingjun was only in the third rank. "Where is this Zi Yingjun?"
"I don't know. He left an hour ago. Im not bothered to follow him anyway." Jin Xuan Meng wanted to but she is afraid that he will change to that terrifying side of him again. He told her she cant go with him and she must not let anyone in their group trace him. That is why she tied Hei Si Yin since that woman wants to have his loneliness an opportunity to fight Zi Yingjun.
Zi Yingjun came back to the base only to see Zi Yan Yue having troubles in untying Hei Si Yin. Jin Lixing was inside the building to keep on watch over Hei Wen Zhu. However, he frowned since Jin Xuan Meng's presence is not around.
"Hey! Zi Yingjun!" a familiar voice shouted. He looked behind to find Jin Xuan Meng arriving with another boy.
"Is he the inspector?" Zi Yingjun guessed. Shi Zhao smiled deviously as sparks of lightnings flashed from their gaze. It was like they met their nemesis.
"Am I? How did you know?" Shi Zhao suspected Zi Yingjun the most. From Jin Xuan Pei's words, Zi Yingjun is very unruly. People unrestrained by rules are difficult to understand. And those that are difficult to understand are keeping a lot of secrets.
"I guessed. You're not an elder of any clan here." Zi Yingjun can tell at one glance that the boy in front of him is a prodigy. Fifteen yet a Foundation Building cultivator. However, he never heard of the name Shi Zhao before. Even in his past life, Shi Zhao did not appear. He thought Shi Zhao is a prodigy outside Da Long Mountain.
"Zi Yingjun, don't look at him like that. He's Sir Shi Zhao. Brother hired him to investigate incase a foul happened here." Jin Xuan Meng took out a handkerchief and tied it around Hei Si Yin to keep her mouth shut. Hei Si Yin might lament on how she and Zi Yingjun teamed up to trick the girl.
"Why are you...?" he tilted his head in confusion because of Jin Xuan Meng's behaviour. Shi Zhao can tell Hei Si Yin's look have a meaning.
"Nothing. Hei Si Yin likes to curse us very much. My ears got tired listening so I tied her this way." Jin Xuan Meng grinned evilly to Hei Si Yin whose face paled. She picked Hei Si Yin and placed her on her shoulder. "Well then, I should take her to her teammate. Zi Yingjun, Zi Yan Yue, you two entertain Sir Shi Zhao."
"As far as I know, Im not a clown." Zi Yingjun scoffed at Jin Xuan Meng. He sent a secret gesture to Zi Yan Yue. She understood and left them alone. "So, Sir Shi, you came here because of the sudden rampage, right?"
"Likely. And it seems like not an accident." Shi Zhao warily answered.
Zi Yingjun casted a smart smile. "Good luck in investigating." he said before turning his back. Zi Yingjun stopped after a few step. "Also, there's this shadow in the core zone lately. I headed to the core zone back then and noticed that ghostly figure. That is the abnormality I saw. It might be a demon beast."
Shi Zhao was dubious. Hu appeared once Zi Yingjun left. The tiger sniffed as its ears went down. "That scent, its gone. It made me so hungry Master. Please feed me now!"
"Scent? Hu, what scent is it?" Shi Zhao asked. Its either the scent Hu is talking about or the Shadow Asura caused the spirit beasts to leave their habitat.
"Your brother hired a hindrance." Zi Yingjun said while looking outside the window. He leaned on the seal and watched Shi Zhao leave.
"What should we do? It cant be... You want to kill him?!" Jin Xuan Meng was shocked.
"Kill him? That's not a bad idea either." he grinned although he cant. Shi Zhao is a Foundation Building cultivator. If he fights Shi Zhao, then the one losing will be him. Zi Yingjun cant harm Shi Zhao now but in the future, he will.
"Hey, you cant do that!" she defended Shi Zhao. Jin Xuan Meng snorted in her heart and thought, "Come on, kill him! Incase you succeeded, I will expose your true color."
"Oh, right." Zi Yingjun suddenly remembered. He took out two soul cores containing a green snake and a colorful bird. A flame engulfed the soul cores and when the flame disappeared, only a small green pill was left. "Have Hei Si Yin consume this. It will keep her from telling anyone of what we did."
