(69) The Result Was Unexpected

Sovereign Hei suddenly appeared without Zi Yingjun's consent. He stared at the steel sword that Shi Zhao took out but there is a noticeable white stone in the middle of the hilt. "Boy, the weapon Shi Zhao has is an intermediate sword. The white stone embedded on it is a null crystal." upon hearing this, Zi Yingjun grew vigilant. A null crystal is white because it has the five main elements of a world. Including water, fire, wood, metal and earth. However, a null cultivator has to balance the five elements in order to make a breakthrough and each element are equally strong. With how fast Shi Zhao is even though he controls null magic, that means he's a very unique prodigy. "Null cultivators are rare these days. They went extinct a hundred years from now. Even super forces have difficulties cultivating them because not one in a hundred thousand can balance the five elements at once and their progress are the slowest. But Shi Zhao is not. There must be someone behind him." Zi Yingjun speculated while getting the Bleak Night Sword ready. The blade that was silver turned purple while glowing from time to time. "Zi Yingjun, whatever the result is, both of us should not take it to heart." Shi Zhao smiled amiably. The white stone on the sword became blue. "Of course. This is just a spar. If we fight in real life, I'll really go all out and restrain mercy." he answered back. Shi Zhao's eyes went cold and upon waving the sword, the water from a nearby pond floated behind him. "Water Sword Art Technique; Unleash!" he used the easiest sword art he mustered. The water behind him turned into threads and shot towards Zi Yingjun at a fast speed. "Frost Spell." the blade of Bleak Night Sword turned blue and frosts covered itself. A rune mark glowed white from the hilt. Zi Yingjun faced the fast whips of water and almost as if dancing while lashing on each thread. The whip of water will then turn into ice and break down. His swift movements fascinated the onlookers. Shi Zhao doesn't want to lose either and waved his sword to an angle, left to right from below to upwards. Waves of water emerged from the stage and attacked Zi Yingjun. He stabbed the sword on the stage which caused a layer of frost meet with the waves. Zi Yingjun twisted Bleak Night Sword that made the frozen waves and shards broken to pieces on air. "Hey, Shi Zhao. Do you know another null magic trick called spellcaster?" Zi Yingjun smiled haughtily. He raised the sword in a stance and the broken ices formed into a couple of ice swords. They reflected rays of light as Shi Zhao felt the move was familiar. "Its like this. Ice Sword Art Technique; Null Spell; Raining Frost Blades!" His blue eyes shrunk the moment Zi Yingjun executes both technique of sword art and magic. Shi Zhao changed his sword's attribute to flames. He cut through the ice swords easily as they turned into puddle of waters. No time to waste and Shi Zhao made the water raise once more. Suddenly, the puddle of water dived into the ground before coming back black. It formed like a python and lunged at Zi Yingjun. "This isn't right..." Zi Yan Yue muttered. Her eyes widened to realize what sort of smell the black python has. "Yingjun! Its fuel!" Zi Yingjun knew. Bleak Night Sword's blade returned to purple. He can guess Shi Zhao took his provocation seriously. Just then, he noticed the stone on Shi Zhao's sword becoming red. The python stood in front of Zi Yingjun and opened its large mouth. Shi Zhao waved his sword. A blade of fire struck the python as it burned fiercely. Zi Yingjun evaded the fire that it spit. The stage was now lit without the fire being extinguished. Some teachers are already starting to panic but the students watched to cheer their own candidate. Shi Zhao find it complicated to attack Zi Yingjun at once since he us also controlling the python. His qi is starting to deplete. He used a technique that is easy but he now transferred a lot of qi to the python in order to attack Zi Yingjun. Shi Zhao was stunned when Zi Yingjun appeared in front of him. Their weapons clashed then the python spat fire. Both of them separated at once. "If this continues, I'll lose." Shi Zhao thought. "Looks like it comes to this." Zi Yingjun evaded the python again. He doesn't have much qi left either. The technique, rune and null magic consumed it fast. Bleak Night Sword's blade glowed ominously. Zi Yingjun faced the python head on and before it can spit fire, he lashed the sword and passed through it. A crescent purple qi that is half the size of the python clashed with its body. The python stood on its place before it got swallowed by the purple crescent qi and it vanished without a trace. Shi Zhao lashed the sword down to Zi Yingjun. He used the Bleak Night Sword downwards too but kept Shi Zhao's weapon pressed on the stage. Zi Yingjun stepped on the sword's tip then waved the Bleak Night Sword to Shi Zhao who bent back. Shi Zhao let the sword go and grabbed Zi Yingjun's arm. He flipped Zi Yingjun before taking his weapon back and struck it to his opponent. However, Zi Yingjun rolled to the side. They engaged on a normal swordfight but then, Zi Yingjun's sword broke. The crowd gasped as Shi Zhao took the chance. He brought Zi Yingjun down and placed the blade close to his neck. Everything went still. Except for Shi Zhao who kept panting. Zi Yingjun dropped the broken sword then Shi Zhao stood up. He helped Zi Yingjun stand too. "Well..." "I-it broke..." "The result was- unexpected, cough." "Shi Zhao won!" "Look, Zi Yingjun is not angry." "Hmph. He lost, big time. That means he's no longer undefeated." "This sword is an intermediate weapon called Bai Steel. I can tell you used an inferior weapon. Sorry it broke." Shi Zhao apologetically said. "Shame it didn't last." Zi Yingjun picked it up and exchanged few words casually with Shi Zhao. The students and teachers were confused. Wasn't it a while ago they wanted to kill each other? Now they became friends? How- how did that happen?!
