Chapter 11: Into The Dark Kingdom

1844 Words
Diamond's POV The Dark Kingdom I was sitting at a table in a café drinking my morning tea. This is what I did on an average morning when I don't have school. Then my brother approached my table and sat down. "Hey, Diamond,” my brother greeted me. "Hi, Scorch." He looked stressed. I took a sip of my tea. "What's wrong? Still bummed you killed your mate's mother?" I asked casually. He growled out of frustration. "No. She forgave me, but I don't know how I'm supposed to see her." I raised an eyebrow. "Wait, she forgave you? But you haven't seen her since she found out and freaked out." A waitress brought him coffee, his usual, and left. "I've been visiting her in her dreams most nights for the last two weeks. Last night she said she forgave me and that she wanted me." He shrugged and took a sip of his coffee. Mates were able to slip into each other's dreams or just watch, even if they weren’t mated yet. Dreams weren’t the best place to get to know someone because they could be pretty chaotic. I felt like I already knew her pretty well and was still getting to know her better in the dreams despite the chaos. I started laughing. "Scorch it was a dream. She's an elf she probably didn't think that was actually you. To her, it was only a dream she hasn't really forgiven you." Scorch wanted so badly to believe she forgave him, I would too. "Fine you're right, aren't you?" He sighed in distress. "I just need to go see her, find her, and claim what's mine." It wasn't going to be that easy, so I glared at him. "If you go by yourself to The Enchanted Kingdom, you will be killed and you will start a war." My expression softened. "She'll come to you Scorch I just know it." I smiled comfortingly. Scorch wasn't as convinced as I was. He drank some of his coffee before replying, "I don't know Diamond. Seeing her in her dreams isn't enough and her coming back to the dark forest is unlikely after what happened. Even if she does, how will I know to be there in the dark forest instead of the dark kingdom? The second time we met was just luck because I was flying nearby when I sensed her. The other times we kind of planned." I was rooting for them so hard I didn't think about taking everything into consideration. I frowned when I realized he had a point. "Wow, that is tough. Scorch maybe you should think about rejecting her..." Scorch shot a cold look at me. "No Diamond at first I considered it, but I won't put her through the pain." That couldn't have been the main reason. The physical pain of rejection doesn't last that long. I drink some of my tea then gave my advice, "That's the only way you can eventually get over her." I wished they could be together because he seemed to really like her, and she had to have deep feelings for him too! "No… the mate bond, it’ll pull us together. We’re fated to meet again…" He was right but he failed to realize that's why he should reject her, so the pull will stop. They could both move on, and no one has to get more hurt. Their relationship would be forbidden. "Yeah, I uh need more time to myself, I'll stop by the house later, okay?" He finished his coffee and stood up slowly. I nodded. "Okay, Scorch... bye." I waved goodbye and watched him go. I stood up with my tea then paid the waitress before I walked out to head downtown. Carissa's POV We were in the marketplace of the dark kingdom. The kingdom was small like Jenny implied but it was also beautiful. When I looked up, I saw a lot of dragons flying in the sky, couples, families, and some teaching children how to fly. This place was amazing, and I might have been the first full elf to experience it. Jenny was shopping for food and other necessities. I looked down at Kylie who was holding my hand. "Mom usually rushes out of stress, but I guess since we look like this, she has nothing to worry about,” she said. I was grateful for that because it was exactly what she deserved. "Yeah, I'm happy the magic worked." We started walking and followed Jenny downtown. We decided to split up. Kylie and I would go and check out some sights while Kellin and Jenny continued shopping. Kylie stayed close to me while she held my hand tightly. That's when we were bumped into, and I yelped as the female's warm tea spilled all over me. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" The female apologized. "I'm a klutz!" She facepalmed. "Let me make it up to you. Come with me to my house so you can get all cleaned up and changed," she suggested. I wasn't sure if it was safe for us to be going into a stranger’s home, but her aura was so welcoming. I hesitantly nodded. "Yeah okay." We walked with the female in the direction of her home. I look at her and thought she was gorgeous. She had to be around 16 and tall for a female human at 5'10". She also had long raven black hair and crystal blue eyes. She was slender which went well with her tallness. "I'm Diamond." She mentioned and looked at me "What about you two? You kind of look like sisters, are you? I wish I had a sister, but I have two brothers. My oldest brother lives in the forest and my other brother lives here but spends a lot of time in the forest." She had so much energy and spoke with it. She came off as the kind of person to be always excited and it was refreshing. "I'm..." I wasn't sure if I should give my real name or not, but I did. "Carissa." I just felt like I could trust her. "This is Kylie." I gestured to her. Kylie smiled at Diamond with a wave. "Hi, you're really pretty." Diamond smiled. "Awe thanks you're so sweet and adora-wait Carissa? I've heard that name before..." She shrugged off the thought. "Or not I don't remember." She giggled. We walked into Diamond’s house. "My parents aren't home, but my brother is coming over later." We followed her upstairs into her room. I look around. "Wow." Her walls were pink and decorated very nicely. Let's just say it matched her personality, bold and loud. Diamond smiled at me. "Thanks. Strip, please. I found my mate so it's okay, I'm not going to look at you in that way. Wait you never told me if you're sisters!" She started going through her drawers. "Your mate?" I tilted my head. What did she mean by she found her mate? Like a soul mate? Kylie looked up at me shaking her head. "Shh." I guess I shouldn't ask that kind of question. Diamond looked at me and nodded with a big smile. "Yeah I found him, most people spend years searching and I already found him! My brother had to search for three years! Can you imagine that?! Some people take a hundred! Can you imagine that!?" I was so confused, okay what the hell. I do know Dragon shifters live to a thousand. Elves live to around five hundred. Something about our biology and the fact that we’re both magical beings in different ways makes us age slower than an average human. I shook my head. "No, I couldn't..." I took off my gown leaving myself in my panties and bra. "Oh and no we aren't sisters, I'm like her tutor." She looked at me and handed me clothes. "Your dress looks expensive. It's so cute!" She giggled. I smiled at her compliment. "Thanks." Most of the clothes I owned were custom-made, one of a kind by the best tailor in the enchanted kingdom. She turned music on. "It must be nice to tutor someone. I really f**k with that-sorry for my language.” Diamond apologized to Kylie. "Mentors of any kind are great to have." "Yeah." I got dressed in Diamond's outfit that was tight on me. It was a cute blouse and jean shorts. I've never worn commoner clothes before, but I like them. My father would say I'm showing too much skin. We all sit down on the bed. Kylie looked at Diamond. "How did you meet your mate and how did it feel?" Diamond folded her legs crossing them over each other on her bed. "I was at school and usually I never ever get in any kind of trouble, but my best friend's a bit of a troublemaker. I took the blame for something she did which got me detention. My mate, Jason has had detention too but not his first time," she explained. "He had gotten there late and when our eyes met well... instant sparks! Like we were the only people in existence, the pull was so strong! His scent was bliss." As she spoke, I started to think about Scorch and how that was the way it felt when we met so what did that mean? Kylie had a big smile across her face looking at Diamond in envy. "You're so lucky. I can't wait to find my mate, can't start looking till I'm 16 in almost four years but it's going to be amazing!" She giggled. Diamond looked at me. "Have you found your mate? How old are you?" she asked. "I am 17, 18 soon. I think I have..." I can't believe I really consider Scorch as my mate and barely know what it is... Kylie looked at me shocked, having mates isn't an elf thing so maybe I was wrong. "Well, I felt sparks and he meant a lot to me. I kind of feel empty without him. He did something terrible, and I still want to be around him... I feel a pull like I need him. I won't stop dreaming about him either. He pops into my head at the most random times, but it's like he belongs there, stuck there." I glowed as a spoke. Kylie gasped. "He has to be your mate!" So, it might be possible, I mean he's a dragon. "The person you're meant to be with! The person you're paired with by the moon goddess! The person you are deeply connected with! Your mate!" Diamond nodded. "You just have to be with him! It's destiny!" I shook my head. "It's complicated... plus I'm engaged..." Both their mouths dropped open. I was trying to wrap my head around this whole thing. So, I might have been chosen to be with Scorch? Meant to be with him? Soul mates? That makes things even more complicated… Maybe I should try to find him? I don't know...
