Chapter 10: Training Kellin

Morning three weeks later "Carissa Please." He pleaded which made my ears burn. I covered my blood-covered ears and let out a screech. "Stop! Leave me alone! Leave me!" I sobbed down on my knees. "What is it?! What do you want from me?!" He sighed and paced around me in circles. "I want you, Carissa. I want you to understand I care about you. I loved the time we spent together." He walks in front of me and kneeled. "Forgive me for the death of your mother. I didn't I know she was your mother, and I was so young. It doesn’t make it right but that isn’t me." He caressed my face and pushed me on my back. Getting on top of me. I started panting. "S-Scorch, I want you." I bit my lip and my crying stopped. The pain went away, and the blood was no longer there. "I want you and I forgive you for the death of my mother, I overreacted." "The urge to mate is washed over you." He smirked. "Do you really forgive me?" I nodded. "I do Scorch. Kiss me. Please." As soon as our lips almost met, I fell out of my bed which woke me up from my dream. So let me explain. I haven't seen Scorch in three weeks, so it had been three weeks since I found out he murder my mother. Ignore what I said in my dream because I didn’t forgive him. I had gone to Jenny's every other day. It had been amazing fun, and they became like my second family. I’d play with the kids, teach them, plus Jenny and I have nice conversations. Kylie was doing very well in magic for only having ten lessons so far. Kellin wasn't doing so well with the magic. He couldn't use it yet, but we're working on it. For the last two weeks I've been dreaming of Scorch and for the last few times, I’ve gotten these dreams they’ve been lust-filled dreams of Scorch. They need to stop. I got out of bed and started getting ready for the day. I always wake up early when I decide to go to Jenny's. That way no one knows or follows me. I was riding my horse, Tomato into the dark forest. I got off Tomato and went into the cottage. I saw them at the table eating breakfast, so I joined as usual. We greeted each other then ate. Once I was done, I looked at Kellin. "I was thinking we should have a one-on-one session today," I suggested. Kellin looked at me and stood up slowly. "Yeah, sure come on." He agreed and started walking out of the house. Kylie frowned. "Aw no fair but it's okay I guess..." I stood up and kiss Kylie's forehead. "The one-on-one session might not take too long. I'll try to stay here today as long as I can, maybe till night this time." I was starting to feel comfortable going back and forth. My father was so much more busy than usual, so he wasn’t keeping as much of an eye on me. I caught up with Kellin and we walked to the field. We sat down facing each other. "Have you been doing what I asked you to do?" I bit my lip knowing he didn't but hoping he'd prove me wrong. Kellin laughed. "No, meditation is boring. I didn't do it." He answered. I frowned. "I know meditation is boring. I have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, so it was hard for me too. It still is, there’s nothing I wouldn’t want more than to do something a little more stimulating. You need to unlock your magical ability and meditation could work. Kylie has been meditating and she is already more in control of her power." He groaned in frustration. "Fine, I'll try it right now." He closed his eyes and crossed his legs. I wanted to help him with magic because he's still half-elf. Jenny doesn't want her children to reject any side of themselves so I'm going to do whatever I can to prevent that. "Okay clear your mind of all thoughts other than our mantra. Focus on your magical essence." I instructed. He started laughing hysterically. "I can't, I can't because my 'magical essence' doesn't exist." He made fun of the words I used. Maybe if I got him to loosen up around me, he'd be more comfortable, and his magical energy will flow, or he'll take meditation seriously. "Know what? Let's talk." He raised an eyebrow. "Uh sure," he agreed. I smiled big. "Okay." I laid on my stomach and looked at him "Tell me some more about you." Kellin hadn't got the chance to open up to many people since he's been out here in the middle of nowhere. "I like fighting with goblins, sketching, and running," he listed a few things. I sat back up. "Really, you draw? Show me some stuff." He nodded and we both stood up. We walked to the cottage and into his room. I look around and they were beautiful sketches everywhere. They were of goblins, trolls, dragons, nature, and they were amazing drawings. I walked to his desk and picked up a sketchbook that I started flipping through. All I saw was a bunch of artworks of elven men. Kellin ran to me and snatched the book out of my hands "That's personal." I backed up. "I'm sorry Kellin, I didn't know..." I ran my hand through my hair, and he sat on his bed with the book on his lap. He stared down at it then threw it at his wall causing me to flinch. I followed him out of the house and back to the field. "I don't want to talk anymore." I watched him sit down, crossed his legs, and started to meditate. Even though I might have upset him I was happy my plan actually worked. Well sort of, he was only meditating so we don't have to talk. I sat in front of him to meditate as well. After a while suddenly I was tackled. I yelped and opened my eyes to see a small dragon above me. "K-Kellin?" I asked. "Yeah." He chuckled. I could understand him perfectly since I was an elf, it was also why I could understand Scorch in his dragon form. A human wouldn't have been able to understand Dragons but dragons in their human forms can still understand others in their dragon form. I chuckled and sat up as he jumped off me. "Wow, I guess meditation unlocked your shifting ability instead of your magical ability." He didn't mind it since he valued being a dragon shifter more. That doesn't mean I'm going to give up teaching him magic. "Thanks, Carissa." He started jumping and running around. "Sorry I was making fun of meditation," he apologized. "I'll do it more often." We chased each other around for a while. Laughing and having fun with him in his dragon form until we were tired out. We laid on the grass field and he looked at me. "Carissa... the man I draw constantly in that notebook... It's a bunch of different ways I picture my father would look if he were here..." I looked at him with a frown. "Oh. My mother's dead but I knew her. She died when I was young, so I barely remember her... I might not understand what it's like for you completely, but I have an idea..." We stayed in silence then Kellin broke it by saying. "Thank you." He even smiled at me, and I returned the smile. Jenny came out with Kylie. Jenny gasped then put her hand over her mouth when she saw Kellin in his dragon form. "He shifted." She was a proud mother. Kylie frowned but tried to look happy for her brother. Jenny ran to Kellin, and I walked to Kylie. "Hey, don't feel bad, at least now we know you're capable of shifting and if he shifted. You're probably not that far behind. Keep meditating, you have a lot of magical ability so make room for a shifting ability." I kissed her forehead lightly then she smiled at me and nodded. Kellin shifted into his human/elf form, and we went inside of the cottage. Jenny put black hoods on her children's head. "Why do they have to wear those?" Jenny looked at me "We're going into the dark kingdom, it's really just a big city. I need to hide their ears, or they'll be attacked." Kellin looked at me. "I wish you could come too but you're an elf." Kylie smirked. "I can fix that." She walked to me ran her hands in front of my face and body changing my appearance to appear human. I looked in the mirror I was about 5'6" when I'm usually 5'2" average height for an elf. My ears were rounded, freckles lighter, yet my magical ability still was there. "Whoa, Kylie how?" "You said we can create and manipulate nature. The outer appearance is nature." She shrugged like it was no big deal and walked to Kellin. She took off his hood then made him look fully human. She wasn't the first person to think of this but not many people needed to change their appearance. It was frowned on to do. I was surprised she thought of it and could perform such a powerful spell.  My expression showed how impressed I was. "Okay, my turn." I walked to Kylie, took off her hood, and made her appear fully human. "Wow, that takes A LOT out of me." I panted, but Kylie made it look effortless. I needed to find out why she has so much mana. Maybe when she and Kellin were in Jenny as fetuses' Kylie absorbed both Kellin's magical abilities. That is the case with elven twins sometimes, but they never absorb all of their twin’s magical ability just most. Jenny looked at us all in surprise. "Wow, now I don't have to worry. Keep your hoods around your neck just in case it loses effect you can keep them off for now though." I touch my face. "It won't Jenny... it's a strong illusion. It might not change back until we're asleep." We all left and headed to The Dark Kingdom, which was located in the middle of the dark forest. Back then I didn't know Scorch lived in the dark kingdom. I thought he lived in a cave in The Dark Forest, so I was in for a surprise.
