[Christmas]
It's been one week since I found out what really are the tablets I am always taking at the same time the vitamins I took when I am pregnant. It isn't an antidepressant and a vitamins but a damn f*****g abortion pills and medicine that stopping me to get pregnant. I fisted my hand in anger on how could Duke gave this to me that time? He is worst than a criminal because he killed an innocent child–our child!
All my life I thought I really miscarried her but it was his fault. His f*****g damn fault! I also goes to the house of my doctor that day to confirm if she really gave the vitamins to me and the antidepressant and I just found out she did not. That f*****g asshole! Now I know why my doctor stop seeing me.
Ding dong! Ding dong!
“Wait a minute!” said of the voice from the inside.
I stopped pressing the doorbell and waited the door to be open. When it's finally opened, a woman in her mid40s showed up in front of me. It was Dr. Juarez who had been my personal doctor since I got pregnant but I never saw her again because of Duke.
“Oh, Christmas, it is you!” she said unexpectedly to see me, “Come inside.”
“No, thank you. I will not stay longer, Dr. Juarez,” I refused.
She nodded. “So, what is all of the sudden of visiting me? It's been a long day since the last time I saw you. If I'm not mistaken you are four or five–”
“I'm five months pregnant that day,” I cut her off.
“Yea, right you are five months pregnant that day. I still remember.” She smiled at me. “It's just sad to think that Duke replaced me to be your personal doctor.”
“H–he replaced you?”
“Yea, and I don't know what his reason is. I didn't bother to ask because he already pay me,” she answered, “So, what is the all of sudden visiting, hmm?”
I cleared my throat, putting myself together on what I just found out. “Di-did you really gave me a container of vitamins that will keeps my baby healthy before?”
Her forehead knotted. “What vitamins? As far as I remember, I didn't gave you such that.”
“Yo-you didn't gave me? But Duke said your the one who–”
“Christmas, I didn't really gave you a vitamins. Believe me and if I did, I am the one who will give it to you not to your husband,” she cut me off, “Besides, that time I already stop being your doctor.” she added.
I am not taking anymore the antidepressant that I thought since the day I found out. I replaced the tablets with candy mint that same of its color that I bought so that Duke won't notice. Besides, I ain't depress anymore. He is the one who should take a medicine! I already started refusing on him whenever he wants us to have s*x. He ain't forcing me which is a good thing because we don't have to do it.
“Are you okay?” Duke asked while reading at his newspaper in front me.
I faked a laugh. “Yes, I'm fine. Why did you ask?” I asked while putting an apple serum in my pancake.
“Hmm, you seems different,” he answered and placed down the newspaper in the table.
“Different? How I become different to you? Am I weird now?”
Duke glanced at me for almost a minute seems he was observing my expression. He grimaced after that and sipped at his coffee. “Nothing.”
“You are overthinking, Duke.” I laughed to hide the tense.
“I'm not. It is noticeable to you, Baby,” he replied coldly.
“Hahaha. You are funny. I'm still me, okay? I'm not different.”
“You stop having s*x with me all of a sudden, why?”
I almost dropped my utensils on what he just said. “Really, Duke?” I only just said thinking what should I reason out. I can't tell him the truth.
“Wh–”
Ding dong! Ding dong!
“Christmas?!” shouted of my aunt outside when the doorbell stop.
“Oh, wait! It's aunt Lorie,” I said and quickly stood up to open the door. Save by the doorbell! As I opened the door, I saw aunt Lorie wearing a smile. “Good morning, Auntie.”
“Good morning too,” she greeted back, “Ahm, I just came here to ask if you can accompany me to the mall later?”
“Oka–”
“I think it's a good idea. She will go with you, Auntie.” Duke suddenly showed up at my side, placing his arm on my shoulder.
“Oh, Duke, good morning,” aunt Lorie greeted on him, “It's been a long time since the last time I saw you. I thought I'm gonna see you in the dinner last night but you didn't make it.” she laughed.
“I'm sorry if I didn't make it to the dinner but we can settle again some other time,” Duke replied and I don't know why it's a little strange for me the way he touch my shoulder. I ain't comfortable anymore with him after knowing he killed our child.
“Okay that's a good idea!” she agreed, “I'm the one who will settle the next dinner in our house so you will meet Carlos too.”
My eyes got widened. “No, we are not going–I mean Duke is so much busy in the company, right?” I looked at him.
He arched his eyebrow to me. “Am I?”
“Y-yes you are. You are always busy.” I bit my lower lip.
“I'm going to make it in the dinner. I don't want to miss it,” Duke answered to aunt Lorie, “Besides, I want to meet who is Carlos is.” he added and squeezed my shoulder that made my throat dried in nervous.
“Great! I will settle the dinner on Sunday. I'm sure you don't have something to do on that day.”
“Yea, I'm always free on Sunday except the last time I didn't make it to the dinner,” he laughed.
“Okay, I will tell this to Carlos. I'll see you soon, Christmas. I'm going back at the house.”
“Okay, Auntie, I'll see you soon.”
Duke closed the door when aunt Lorie gone in front us. He held my hand and about to bring me back in the dining when I didn't move. “What?” He asked in forehead knotted.
I took my hand from him. “N-nothing let's continue eating our pancakes.” I said and walk back in the dining without waiting him.
As we done taking our breakfast, I accompany Duke at his car like I always used to do everyday. He reminds me again to take my medicine and I replied what I used to reply on him. I watched him first driving the car till it gone on my sight before I headed back in the house.
I finished first everything in the house before I take a bath. While I'm taking my moment inside the shower, I am thinking what should I do to our relationship. As I found out what he did to me and to our baby, I don't know anymore if this us will going to work. I don't even know if I still love him because all I feel was hatred. There is no forgiveness on what he did.
I didn't wear the clothes that Duke bought to me. I replaced it in the boxes where I putted all my old clothes. When I'm already done fixing myself, I goes downstairs wearing my jeans and pink t-shirt that isn't expensive like what he bought to me.
All the door was locked as I stepped out in the house and I'm now heading at the house in front. Before I could press the doorbell, I look around as if it's someone looking at me from here. When I see no one, I pressed the doorbell twice and wait the door to be open. As the door finally opened, my face frowned as I saw him.
“Where is auntie?” I asked while my arms are cross.
“She is still in the upstairs,” he answered casually, “Would you like to wait for her inside?”
“No thank you. I will wait here,” I said and turned my back on him.
“Okay,” he only said and shut the door closed.
I waited auntie for almost 10 minutes in my count before she finally came out in the door. Aunt Lorie was wearing a denim dress matching with high stiletto that really suits her and she has this tote bag hanging on her shoulder.
“Let's go,” she said and entered at the driver seat.
“What are we going to do in the mall?” I asked and get inside the passenger seat.
“Ahm, I don't know.” She laughed out. “I just feel like I want to go there. It sucks to stay in the house.” She added and start driving the car.
“Yea, it sucks in the house,” I said in my lower voice.
“What is the matter? You sounded like s**t,” she asked.
“Nothing, Auntie,” I answered, “Before I forgot, there is something I want to ask you.” I faced her in my side.
“What is it?”
“Why did you sell the laundry shop and how did you really met Carlos?” I asked her and I saw how her expression changed.
“I need money that's why I decided to sell the shop, Christmas,” she answered directly.
“Why you didn't tell me that you have a plan in selling it?”
“It's all of a sudden and also I didn't expect that I'm going to sell the shop,” she answered.
“Okay it's already sold anyway there's nothing I can do about it,” I said as I don't have any choice, “The shop is already a home for me that is why I asked you why you didn't tell me.”
“I'm sorry, Christmas. I just really need a money. You know that there is no one supporting my needs,” she laughed.
“No one? What do you call to Carlos?” I asked, “You aren't yet answering my question, how did you really met him?” I repeated my question.
“He came at the shop and asked about you that's the time I met him. Remember when I told you there is someone looking for you?” aunt Lorie glimpsed a second on my way.
“Yea, I remember that day.”
“That is the answer on your question.”
“But how did you two end up like this? Together? In all of the men in the world why him, Auntie?” I asked in my forehead knotted.
She bit her lower lip. “I-I fell for him that's it.”
“You fell for him? Really, Auntie?” I asked in sarcasm, “There's nothing good in him that you can fall to. He is a certified asshole!”
“No he isn't. If you will give him a chance you will find out more to him,” she said and she is really defending him.
If she only knew that Carlos also got in a relationship with her sister s***h my mother before, she will definitely going to freak out. I didn't even expected also that man is rich because when he came in the house he is just normal like us. As far as I remember, the work I knew he is doing is a repair man. His car that he is using that day is different from a brand new sports car he is using now. That man is good in wearing mask.
“He cares to you, Christmas,” aunt Lorie said that made me back on my senses.
“Stop talking like that, Auntie,” I said in my disgusting tone, “You are in a relationship with him and you are talking like that. I don't care about the feelings of that man.”
Aunt Lorie laughed. “We aren't in a relationship that is really for a lovers. It's just a fling after all.”
“It won't change my mind even if your relationship with him aren't serious. I don't care if he cares at me. I don't need it anyway.” I crossed my arm, looking outside the window in my side. “You shouldn't let it happened, Auntie. You shouldn't let him entered at your life. There is a man who is for you that will take you in a serious relationship not like this on a fling thing.” I said without looking at her. “You won't be happy on that kind of relationship. It sucks.”
“I wish I didn't but it's already here.”
I heaved a sigh. “Yea, right. It's already happened.”
It is already 10:30 a.m. when we arrived here in St. Johns Town Center. This was my second time here because Duke already brought me here before. All things you can buy here is all expensive and I don't know why Auntie brought me here. Does she afford here?
“I will buy you a new clothes,” she said while we are walking here inside with the people who is definitely a class on their clothes.
“You don't have to buy me, Auntie. Duke just bought me last time.”
“Oh? Then why you didn't wear it now?”
“Because I don't want to.” I grimaced.
“Okay but are you sure you don't want me to buy you?”
“I'm okay, Auntie,” I answered.
“Okay if it's that what you want.”
We takes all the time inside the mall and I accompany my aunt in every store to buy what she wants. It seems she has really lot of money because she bought lots of clothes at the same time heels and bags that is all in famous brand names. It took us two hours almost before we goes out in the mall.
“Thank you so much for accompanying me here, Christmas,” auntie said while I am placing the shopping bags here in the trunk.
“Anytime, Auntie,” I replied.
“I hope you can forgive me.”
My forehead knotted on what she just said that made me stop on what I am doing. “Forgive you on what?” I asked as I faced her.
“For this,” said of the voice in my back and before I could turn, a handkerchief covered my nose that made me fell asleep.
