"Hello", masayang bati ko kahit na kinakabahan talaga ako.
Kinunutan lang niya ako. "Who are you and what are you doing here?", sunod-sunod niyang tanong.
"What are you smiling about? What do you have there?"tukoy niya doon sa maliit na bag kong dala. "Are you a thief? I'll report you to the knights", akmang aalis na sana siya nag humarang ako sa daan.
"Wait! No, I am not a thief. I am actually...", ako na nag-iisip ng palusot. "...a uhm.. a pri...", wait, dapat ko bang sabihin na isa rin akong princess. Looking like this? ".. I am a garden fairy?".
"Fairy?"
"Yesh! I am in fact a fairy!", bahala na! "You shee, I wash in the middle of admiwing the flowers. You have a vewy beautiful garden!", sabay palakpak ko pa.
"A fairy? You?", saka niya tinignan ng mabuti yung buo kong itsura. "But you look dirty", aray ha! "You look like a kid. A tiny kid", medyo wala po siyang preno.
"He-he... it ish becaushe I'm a fairy".
"Are all fairies dirty?", bakit ang hirap makalusot dito? Is this really a three year old?
"N-no! Itsh because I was building my flower home in the foresht when I came upon your beautiful garden", ilang palusot pa ba sasabihin ko?
Saglit siyang napaisip sa sinabi ko. "Our gardeners are quite talented", ani niya. Is it working? Is my lie finally got through him?
"Your Highness?", pareho kaming napalingon doon sa tumatawag kay Chester. Paktay! Kailangan ko ng makaalis dito.
"I'm here, nanny!", sagot naman ni Chester. Leche to ah!
"Huh? Where did she go?", rinig kong paghahanap saakin ni Chester. I'm sorry brother but I have to go. Haha!
"Your Highness, what are you doing here?", rinig kong tanong nung maid. Buti na lang nakaalis na ako doon.
"Nanny, I saw a fairy".
"A fairy?"
"Yes, a dirty fairy", garden fairy ang pakilala ko hindi dirty fairy.
Agad na lumabas na ako doon sa butas at ibinalik yung malaking batong nakaharang. Hindi na po ako babalik dito. Tutal, nakakuha na ako ng itatanim ko.
Pagkabalik ko ng garden ko ay agad na itinanim ko yung ninakaw kong punla.
"It's a success!", sigaw ko sabay stretch nang...
"Princess Astrid Cecily", napatigil ako sa pagsasaya ng tawagin ako sa buo kong pangalan ni Cynthia at halata yung ugat niya sa may ulo.
"Welcome back... Chyn..thia? Ha.. Ha.. Ha.. I can exshplain". Again, blue, dark flecks of blue and chartreuse green pools gazed into my dull brown ones. Let's not get to the point where my brain, my own brain, refuses to function on behalf of the same species as me. I dart my eyes as quickly as possible from that heavenly sculptured face again. Wasn't he playing throwball or volleyball with that other worker on their job? I made a mental note to meet the manager this morning and thank him as well as complain about these two. Come to think of it, shouldn't the manager come to see me already?
"Stop pretending as though you can't see me candy."
"What, are you stalking me now?" My body twists in his direction on its own accord. What can I say? He brings out the homicidal tendencies in me.
"There's too much work filled in on my precious timetable to be spent stalking you."
"You really are hallucinating about the busy schedule you have if you had time to play ball and come lie here and spew absolutely nothing to me." My eyes chanced on him only to see his eyes looking so concentratedly at me and then dashing to the ocean upon casting my own glance at him.
"You look very familiar but I know you aren't from this island. I don't do that heap of games called twenty questions but you've got me hooked so let's try something different, shall we?"
He is someone my inner self wants to be wary about but my wonderful brain refuses to take a hint of that. For fondant's sake! What is wrong with this brain? You know what? He's got me hooked too. His whole anatomy will make your brain mush trust me. I thought those stories I used to hide and
read instead of my textbooks back in high school were things to lure innocent minds into their fantasies, so authors could have fairly reasonable sales, were all white lies in a bundle of roses, but having experienced this attraction within these few hours of meeting this gorgeous man has washed these thoughts away. So, I find my mouth precariously uttering two disastrous words.
"Why not?"
"Mmm... let's call this game 'mirror and daffodils." He smiled as if he had found a solution to the entire world's issues. So cute. But I frown when he names this game we are supposed to play.
"Al- right. Why that name? Couldn't you come with a better and sensational name that generations after us could use?"
"Whoever said I created a game for a bunch of kids to use later on?" At this point we had each been staring intently into each other's faces that I'm sure if he was anything like me, he had my face imprinted into that brain of his. His lips were so close to my ears that I could feel them move against my skin and it was the best feeling ever. I'll not confess that to him anytime soon. When did his gaze leave the ocean at all?
"Plus, you can't hide your true identity from the mirror and if I hand you a bouquet of daffodils it means I've presented you the most important part of my existence, my honesty. People don't usually get that from me so be grateful. In a game of twenty questions, you could easily lie but respect the daffodils and I'll be getting the truth in the same way you'll get it from me." Wow! Such a long speech for mirrors and daffodils but wow, such an insightful speech
