Chapter 17
Brad and Emily sat side by side on the sofa, and Candy joined them. Jed was still sitting on the ottoman when they heard a car drive in.
Jed went to the window and looked out.
“Who’s here, Jed?” Becky asked. She wasn’t about to get up, but she was also waiting for Neil and Diana to both come down so they could have the first ever family meeting.
“It’s Andy and Laura.” Jed started to the door at the same time that Rodney walked in. Becky listened to the voices outside, and Brad said something to Emily before getting up and going to the door. Emily and Candy wore expressions that were both surprised and uneasy. The last thing she wanted was her nephew, Andy, walking into something with his wife and kids that wasn’t comfortable for anyone.
