Shattered Hearts

As she walked down the tiled corridor, the sharp click of her stilettos echoed in the empty space. Kesleigh was on her way to meet her current boyfriend, Rhys. The hallway was eerily silent, with no one around except for him. He stood at the far end, leaning casually against the wall, dressed in his signature leather jacket layered over a plain white t-shirt, paired with black jeans and sneakers. Kesleigh flashed a confident smile as she approached him. Leaning in, she went to give him a kiss, but Rhys raised a hand and gently pushed her back. Her smile faltered, replaced by a slight pout. “What’s wrong, babe?” Kesleigh asked, her brows knitting together in confusion. Rhys let out a heavy sigh. “Let’s end this, Kes,” he said, his voice cold and detached. For a moment, Kesleigh just stared at him, her expression unreadable. Then, to his surprise, she broke into a wide, genuine smile. “Alright then—” she said, pausing to tilt her head as if considering her next words. “Thank you? Lol.” A mocking laugh escaped her lips, dripping with sarcasm. Rhys’s expression darkened. His jaw tightened as he exhaled slowly, clearly fighting to keep his composure. “Soon, you’ll get your heart broken too, Mayers,” he said, his voice low and threatening. Kesleigh threw her head back and laughed, a bold, unbothered sound that echoed through the corridor. She shrugged, as if dismissing his words as insignificant, then spun on her heels and walked away without a second glance. Why would she care? She was Kesleigh Vann Mayers. No one could tame her. No one could hurt her. No one could defeat her. A Mayers always got what they wanted. Heartbreak? Kesleigh didn’t believe in such trivialities. In her world, she ruled. She owned her life—and no one could take that power away from her.
